Ranma Saotome
A Boy With a Gender-Bending Ability
- Anime: Ranma 1/2
Ranma is the main character of Rumiko Takabashi’s popular series Ranma 1/2. This series dropped recently in 2024 through a new adaptation, bringing it to light to many younger anime watchers.
While Ranma is male, he received a curse by accident while on his training journey. This curse causes him to turn into a girl when he comes into contact with cold water. He can turn back into a boy if he comes into contact with hot water.

Kafka Hibino
Kaiju No. 8’s Protagonist
- Anime: Kaiju No. 8
Kafka Hibino is the protagonist of one of the new series that dropped in 2024, Kaiju No. 8. Kafka had big dreams, specifically of joining the third division office to take out all the Kaijus. He does, however, make use of the power of a Kaiju, after one invaded his body and gave him some amazing abilities.
Despite all that, Kafka is still a goofball, with some very childish personality traits. He is interesting to watch and fans are waiting for what he does next in Kaiju No. 8.

Goku

- Anime: Dragon Ball Daima
This year, Dragon Ball fans were treated to a brand new Dragon Ball series, Dragon Ball Daima. This means that fans’ beloved protagonist, Goku, made a grand return in this new story. This came as a treat to fans, especially following Toriyama’s sad death.
In this new story for Dragon Ball, Goku, alongside Vegeta and others, is actually turned into a child. The return of Goku, especially as a child, was definitely a hit of nostalgia for many fans of the original Dragon Ball anime.

Garp
The Hero of the Marines

- Anime: One Piece
One Piece, despite being on break right now, had an incredible run in 2024. This year, the anime was in the Egghead arc, and most of it was truly incredible. One of the most notable male characters during this arc was definitely none other than Garp, a legendary member of the Marines as well as Luffy’s grandfather.
Garp had an incredible showcase of his strength as he infiltrated Blackbeard’s territory to free Koby. Garp showed his superior strength but was eventually taken down.

Deku
His Run In The Final War Is Legendary
- Anime: My Hero Academia
With MHA reaching its final saga in the anime, it is no surprise that many of its characters are getting some incredible moments to shine. The final war is currently taking place, and Deku is finally going head-to-head with Shigaraki.

Dandadan is one of the best anime that came out this year, and definitely for a good reason. The anime is packed with amazing storytelling and action. The main male character of the anime is none other than Okarun, an alien fanatic.
Despite his flimsy appearance, Okarun is actually quite an impressive Individual, specifically thanks to him being able to make use of Turbo Granny’s powers. He and Momo make a kickass team, and his story sees him become one of the top male characters this year.

Bakugo
The Explosive Hero
- Anime: My Hero Academia
Bakugo has come a long way since the beginning of MHA. While he began as a mean bully, Bakugo has developed greatly as a character since. He had some incredible moments during MHA’s latest season, season 7, which aired this year in 2024.
In this season, Bakugo took on the major antagonist of the entire series, Shigaraki. However, while he fought well, the fight ended in a tragedy for him, with Shigaraki dealing a fatal blow to Bakugo.

Himmel
Himmel The Hero

- Anime: Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End
Frieren was a major hit as an anime this year, being one of the most talked about anime. Himmel was the catalyst of the story, holding a lot of weight in the plot, despite being an already deceased character. Even though Himmel wasn’t around, everywhere in the story and throughout Frieren’s adventure, fans can see his impact on her.
Himmel was an interesting character when he was alive and even after he died. Frieren’s character only grew as much as it did thanks to him.

Jinshi
Apothecary Diaries’s Beautiful Eunuch
- Anime: Apothecary Diaries
Apothecary Diaries is one of the most entertaining anime released this year, and Jinshi is the most important character in this anime after Maomao. He is introduced as a beautiful Eunuch, with many secrets up his sleeve. His relationship with Maomao is quite captivating to fans.
Jinshi’s personality makes him quite an entertaining character, and fans definitely can’t wait for his return early next year in Season 2.

Luffy
A New Yonko of the Sea

- Anime: One Piece
One Piece always has something interesting going on. This year, the anime covered a good chunk of the Egghead Island arc, before going on a hiatus until 2025. This, however, was enough for Luffy to have some time to shine.
While it’s hard to top last year with the Wano arc, Luffy still had some amazing moments, such as with his rematch with an old One Piece antagonist, Rob Lucci. This fight allowed fans to see just how much Luffy has grown since Enies Lobby.
