The second season of Castlevania: Nocturne once again had some amazing standout moments that any fans of the games or anime would enjoy. From fights involving hundreds of daggers erupting inside of someone’s sleeve to a dragon decimating someone, there’s a lot of action to love in this latest Netflix adaptation.

Perhaps the only downside is that there weren’t many new characters introduced, unlike the transition between other seasons of the original Castlevania anime. “You Made Me Kill Every Last One Of You And There’s Nothing F***ing Here?”
Alucard
- Episode One
The opening to season two is an all-timer as viewers get to see Alucard storm an Egyptian tomb. He’s looking for Sekhmet and believes he found it since he has to fight off so many guards. After some cool fight scenes, he makes it to the coffin, finds it empty, and then says this line before the credits roll. A good cold open to an anime or any other type of show can set the mood. This is a great example of how to start a season and have fans get excited for what’s to come next.

“Perhaps This Time Evil Doesn’t Have To Win.”
Juste
- Episode Two
Season one of Castlevania: Nocturne was full of cameos that no one expected since the show was largely based on Richter and his first game, Castlevania: Rondo of Blood. Juste appeared briefly, for example, and he was basically a hermit who believed that there was no point in fighting as evil always wins. This line in season two is a reflection of that first thought, as he gets his lost wedding ring back and says this new revised line over his wife’s grave, “Perhaps this time evil doesn’t have to win.” He’s a believer again and chooses to fight even though he is nowhere near as fit as he was in his first appearance on the Game Boy Advance, Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance.

Mizrak
- Episode Three
Mizrak was somewhat of a villain in season one but had a turn when he realized The Abbot wasn’t as priestly as he could be like when he almost sacrificed Maria to Erzsebet Bathory. He’s a main resistance member in season two, mostly helping keep the peace with the Belmont crew.

There are also a lot of side conversations between Mizrak and Olrox who are both in love with each other but things are rocky at the same time. Olrox finds the whole rebellion futile but this is when Mizrak claps back with this remark about fighting even in dire circumstances. It’s a lesson not to be a defeatist and to try even when failure is almost 100% certain.

“Most Of What’s Bad In The World Is Because Of Stupid Old Men!”
Maria
- Episode Four
Maria has a full-on Anakin Skywalker moment as she turns to the dark side in episode four. She goes to the church to kill her father, The Abbot, in hopes of stopping the creation of more monsters. Juste races after her to quell these evil thoughts as he knows revenge won’t solve anything. Unfortunately, by this point, Maria has lost sight of reason and refutes Juste’s pleas with this line. She’s not wrong as this line about the world’s problems can be felt globally in our reality. Truthful fourth-wall-breaking moment aside, Maria cooks The Abbot like a piece of Kentucky Fried Chicken with her new dragon summon.

“Where Is She, Where Is This Erzsebet?”
Annette/Sekhmet
- Episode Six
The sixth episode is all about Annette’s deep dive into the land of the gods. It’s here she hopes to meet Sekhmet who she believes can help stop Erzsebet who is abusing her souls in the world of the living. Sekhmet’s whole thing is kind of like Voldemort and his Horcruxes in the Harry Potter series except in this case, it would be like Voldemort was fighting himself.

At the end of the episode, Annette is somewhat successful in convincing the goddess to help and Sekhmet awakens in Annette’s body asking Alucard and Richter where Erzsebet is. It’s one of those moments where fans know things about to get good.

“This Power Belongs To Me.”
Drolta
- Episode Seven
Drolta was Erzsebet’s loyal servant in season one and season two after coming back from the dead. Starting from episode two onward, viewers get to see how Drolta became a female vampire who spent her entire life trying to revive her Egyptian goddess, Sekhmet, with a living vessel. She thinks she finally found a worthy container via Erzsebet but after the big battle in episode seven renders Erzsebet weakened, Drolta is disgusted. Now she believes the power of Sekhmet should have been hers all along and Drolta casts her former boss down after stealing back the power from her which goes beyond cold-hearted.

“I Will Kill You Olrox, One Day, But Not Today.”
Richter
- Episode Eight
This is one of the better lines of episode eight which is a callback to season one. In the opening of season one, Olrox kills Richter’s mom but spares him saying he’ll track down and kill Richter one day. Now the tables have turned and Richter could have probably gotten revenge here but decided to be fair and let Olrox go since he did help kill Drolta. It’s a very anime trope to see two enemies become allies eventually despite large atrocities committed like Vegeta and Goku in the Dragon Ball Z anime. Will season three finally see Richter and Olrox resolve their differences?
