8 Harem Anime That Have Very Obvious Winners

Although a lot of harem anime leave viewers guessing as to which woman captures the protagonist’s heart, these examples have clear winners.

Highlights

  • In harem anime, the main character often has a variety of love interests, but it’s usually unclear from the beginning who they will choose.
  • Harem anime like Ranma 1/2 and Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches focus more on comedy and supernatural elements rather than romance.
  • Despite having many admirers, the main characters in these harem anime, like Ranma and Keiichi, have their hearts set on one person from the start.

Harem anime is an extremely popular subgenre in the romance anime sphere, and it remains a common trope in anime to this day. Harem anime generally focuses on a variety of likable heroines that have their own way of appealing to the audience.

While most harem anime try to leave the audience guessing as to which among the many heroines the main character will pick as his true love interest, sometimes the heroine who is going to win the male lead’s heart is obvious from the beginning. Here are some harem anime where the heroine the main character will choose is painfully obvious.

8 Ranma 1/2

Urusei Yatsura-Like 80s Anime- Ranma 1-2

While Ranma 1/2 isn’t a traditional harem anime, being much more of a comedy, there’s no denying that Ranma Saotome has amassed quite the harem of love interests all vying for his attention. To make things worse, his female form also has a herd of unwanted suitors, meaning Ranma gets little respite from the constant attention.

Despite all this, it’s pretty clear that Ranma himself only has eyes for one person: Akane Tendo, his fiancée as promised by his and Akane’s fathers. While the two certainly get along like cats and dogs, there’s no denying that Ranma clearly cares for Akane, and vice versa.

7 Yamada-kun And The Seven Witches

Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches Yamada in Shiraishi's body

Once again, Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches is more of a comedy, focusing more on the supernatural hijinks caused by the witch’s powers than any particular romance. However, it’s also true that several women fall in love with the main character Ryu Yamada over the course of the series, including Nene Odagiri and Noa Takizawa.

However, none of the other girls have much of a chance compared to Urara Shiraishi, the heroine of the series. Yamada and Shiraishi establish a bond early on when they discover Shiraishi’s body-swapping powers, and it’s clear that the endgame for them is romance.

6 The Familiar Of Zero

The Familiar of Zero Louise and Saito about to seal a pact

Despite having the bad luck to be summoned to another world as someone’s familiar, Saito Hiraga has quite the luck with women. While he was largely treated as scum by the students of the Tristain Academy of Magic, he soon drew the romantic attention of several women after accomplishing several great feats, including the maid Siesta, the half-elf Tiffania, and students like Kirche and Tabitha.

While Saito often lets his perversions get the best of him, it’s clear that his heart only belongs to his master, Louise de la Valliere. While Louise often browbeats him due to jealousy or irritation, she quite clearly loves him too, though she’s rarely honest about it.

4 Rosario + Vampire

Rosario + Vampire anime

Unable to get into any other high school, Tsukune Aono is forced to enter Yokai Academy, not realizing that it is a school for monsters. Tsukune does his best to survive school without being discovered as a human, though that doesn’t stop him from getting several of his fellow students to fall in love with him.

Though the girls do their best to get his affection, it’s pretty obvious that Tsukune is in love with Moka Akashiya, the first person he befriends at school. While Moka is a vampire who has a habit of drinking Tsukune’s blood, his affection for her is so strong that it’s hard for others to cut in.

3 Love Hina

Violent Tsunderes- Naru Ketarou Love Hina

Ending up in a women’s dormitory naturally leads the bumbling main character Keitaro Urashima to come into contact with many different women over the course of his stay. Whether it be the shy Shinobu Maehara or the martial artist Motoko Aoyama, Keitaro finds himself the target of many girls’ affection during his stay at the Hinata Inn.

Despite having a dorm full of girls after his heart, Keitaro remains steadfastly loyal to Naru Narusegawa, the most hot-tempered resident of Hinata Inn. Though she initially despises Keitaro, his hardworking nature and goofy personality causes her to fall for him, despite a number of obstacles on the way to their love.

2 Ai Yori Aoshi

Kaoru Hanabishi

Ai Yori Aoshi is a unique series in that the two leads, Kaoru Hanabishi and Aoi Sakuraba, are already in a committed relationship early into the series. This doesn’t stop Kaoru from garnering the affection of various women throughout the series, including fellow college students Tina Foster and Mayu Miyuki.

Despite this, Kaoru never strays from his love for Aoi, even though they have to keep their relationship a secret from the others. While it hurts to see these heroines try so hard to win the heart of someone already taken, the series is still quite a compelling romance.

1 Oh My Goddess!

Ah! My Goddess image

After a bizarre misunderstanding with the Goddess Help Line, Keiichi Morisato ends up accidentally wishing for the goddess Belldandy to stay by his side forever. The introduction of Belldandy flips Keiichi’s life upside down, and in the process, he ends up snaring the hearts of a few women along the way.

Despite this, it’s pretty clear that Keiichi has no eyes for anyone aside from Belldandy. Although their relationship started from a misunderstanding, that misunderstanding soon blossomed into true love, and while their romance is not as climactic as others may be, it is certainly a wonderful thing to see.
