Though from not the same series, if they ever crossed over, these anime characters would be the best of friends.
The only thing better than a good filler episode where fans get to see their favorite anime characters have a fun day off to interact with the rest of the cast is a fresh new crossover. Anime crossovers make for great fanservice but are a bit tricker for companies to actually sort out and plan due to legal or creative issues.

However, that doesn’t stop fans from taking things into their own hands and making creative fan art and fanfics that allow their faves to finally interact and befriend one another. Just because two characters belong to two completely different universes doesn’t mean they couldn’t be the best of friends if they met. Here are some best-friend duos that bring some of the most popular anime series together.
8 Shoyo Hinata (Haikyuu) & Meguru Bachira (Blue Lock)
Sunshine attracts sunshine in the case of Haikyuu‘s star, Shoyo Hinata, and Blue Lock‘s hidden monster, Meguru Bachira. Despite the fact that these two play completely different sports that use opposite ends of the body, good sportsmanship is something universal. Hinata and Bachira are kind and cheery athletes whose excitement and enthusiasm are almost contagious when they’re on their respective courts/fields.
While the two are married to their sport, it wouldn’t stop them from giving the other a little lesson or two. Bachira could teach Hinata his dribbling skills while Hinata teaches Bachira the perfect spike. The pair likely have tons of tricks, tips, and incredible stories to tell one another about the journey toward their dreams.
7 Griffith (Berserk) & Ryo Asuka (Devilman Crybaby)
Not all friendships are born from great chemistry and wholesome banter; sometimes bonds can spawn from terrifying ideals. Berserk‘s Griffith and Devilman Crybaby‘s Ryo (a.k.a Satan themself) have so much in common, it’s rather eerie. While both Griffith and Ryo begin their journey as the protagonists’ right-hand man and supportive friend (perhaps more), Griffith transforms into something terrible out of his own selfishness and thirst for revenge, unlike Ryo who simply pretended to have good intentions while hiding his identity as Satan the entire time.
These two have similar ideals for the world and don’t care about indulging in their greed, not batting an eye at waves of bloodshed in their endeavor. Griffith may be greedy, but he does share the glory of his new life as Femto with the rest of the God Hand. Who’s to say that there isn’t a spot for Ryo to join? Hopefully, Guts and Akira team up as well, or both the Devilman and Berserk world are doomed for sure.
6 Deku (My Hero Academia) & Tanjiro Kamado (Demon Slayer)
As far as anime protagonists go, they can come in all different shapes and sizes, but somehow My Hero Academia‘s Deku and Demon Slayer‘s Tanjiro couldn’t be anymore similar. These two have a ton in common; from their heart of gold, right down to their color palette.
These two certified “Best Boys” are the type of protagonist that boldly faces adversity no matter how fearful they are on the inside; because in the end, they know what they must do in order to protect the ones they love. Deku and Tanjiro would undoubtedly have the most wholesome conversations about their grueling journey and how thankful they are for the treasured friends they have by their side.
5 Sasuke Uchiha (Naruto) & Rin Itoshi (Blue Lock)
At first, it may seem like these two have no reason to interact and wouldn’t have a single word to say to each other. However, Naruto‘s Sasuke and Rin of Blue Lock have one unique thing in common: their older brother complex. Rather than the typical kind of older brother complex seen in other animes, Rin and Sasuke have made it their life’s goal to become stronger (Rin in the world of soccer and Sasuke as a ninja) for the sole purpose of defeating their older brother.
The two likely have a ton of harsh memories to bond over and connect with. Sure, Rin’s situation was much less dire when compared to Sasuke’s feud with Itachi, but in the world of Blue Lock, where soccer is literally everything, Rin’s situation with older bro, Sae, is just as severe. Hopefully, the two dark-haired moody boys can have a good old heart-to-heart and cry it all out.
4 Yuji Itadori (Jujutsu Kaisen) & Vash (Trigun Stampede)
Always seen as an incredibly dangerous threat while in reality, having a heart of gold is the unfortunate life of both Jujutsu Kaisen‘s Yuji Itadori and Trigun‘s Vash. These two couldn’t be cruel even if they tried. Yuji and Vash have big hearts and, for the most part, try their absolute best to take the pacifist approach to anything life throws their way. However, because of their special circumstances (Yuji being the feared Sukuna’s vessel and Vash being a Plant that is often associated with his brother’s acts of violence towards humans), they are not seen for who they are, but as monsters.
The two would be the kind-hearted friend the other needed; Vash would see Yuji for who he is and Yuji would do the same for Vash. The two would likely have great chemistry. After all, they aren’t just the protagonists of their series, they’re their own comic relief as well.
3 All Might (My Hero Academia) & Erwin Smith (Attack On Titan)
Being a beacon of light and a symbol of hope for others isn’t a part-time job, nor is it an easy one. Former number one hero, All Might from My Hero Academia, and former Survey Corps Commander Erwin Smith from Attack On Titan know exactly how heavy the weight of the world’s hopes can be on one’s shoulders; regardless of how strong.
Despite the enormous waves of adversity these two have faced in their lifetimes, they persevered until the moment they were forced to throw in the towel and would have had a deep respect for one another. In a different life, these two would have been able to meet and bond over being the “nation’s dad” and always handling all the toughest, dirtiest work that needs to get done, but no one wants to do.
2 Denji (Chainsaw Man) & Akira Fudo (Devilman Crybaby)
As the saying goes, “teens will be teens,” and Chainsaw Man and Devilman Crybaby‘s protagonists are perfect examples of how accurate that saying can be. Denji and Akira both love the simpler things in life (as teens do), they both happened to have their lives changed by suddenly being gifted a secondary demon/devil-like form and most importantly they’re both incredibly girl-crazy.
Of course, Denji’s entire modus operandi is about girls and wanting to live out his pervy dreams, but some fans may have forgotten that once Akira had become a devilman, he had all his primal urges amped up all the way, meaning his desire to “mate” skyrocketed as well, which eventually lead him to his encounter with Sirene. No doubt that these two would hit the arcade to relax with some games and also to scout out any cute girls that may be around.
1 Goku (Dragonball) & Saitama (One-Punch Man)
Goku and Saitama aren’t just powerful protagonists, they have their own mundane lives too. The Dragon Ball and One Punch Man leads are primarily known for their amazing feats and incredible levels of power, but their antics outside their time battling for the greater good are just as interesting.
Rather than being alike and bonding over these similarities, Saitama and Goku have contrasting personalities that can complement one another. Goku’s high energy and enthusiasm to help save people may seem like it would clash with Saitama’s indifference and laziness, but the two still likely have a ton of similar stories and troubles to bond over. Goku and Saitama no doubt have some training tips for one another, on top of some great conversations about delicious food.
