Yujiro Hanma, the father of the titular protagonist in Baki, is one of the strongest characters in the entirety of the series. In the action-packed world of martial arts mastery and superhuman feats, only a few names induce as much fear into opponents as Yujiro. He is an indomitable force of nature, the living embodiment of strength and martial arts prowess, and was also called Ogre.
To be mentioned in the same sphere as Yujiro is to be renowned as a formidable fighter, and only a handful can live up to that tag. A select group of individuals can challenge this monster and go toe-to-toe with him, each wielding their unique blend of power, technique, determination, and battle IQ. Here are all the characters that can rival Yujiro Hanma in battle.
6 Sea Emperor Kaku
Age is nothing but a number, and that is pretty evident in the way Sea Emperor Kaku fights. Despite being one hundred and sixty years old, he is still one of the strongest characters in the entire series, and it makes one wonder just how strong he was in his prime.
His technique Shaori, which utilizes the body weight of his target to deal deadly damage, earned him the reputation of the greatest Supreme Grandmaster of Chinese Kenpo, was the Sea Emperor of Sea Emperors, and the champion of the Raitai Tournament for the past century. He utilized Shaori to fight against the Ogre on equal footing and even backed him into a corner, even if only for a short period.
5 Nomi No Sukune II
Descended from none other than the legendary God of Sumo himself, Nomi no Sukune, who shares his name, this rising star has embraced the mantle of his forefather. Revered as the preeminent user of his distinctive sumo style, Nomi no Sukune II possesses an insane grip strength that surpasses even his illustrious grandfather’s.
His grip strength also puts that of Yujiro to shame, generating enough pressure with his grip to turn coal into a diamond. Although he is far slower than Yujiro, his physical strength is greater than Yujiro’s without his Demon Back enhancement.
4 Pickle
Pickle is a remnant from the past, a primitive man preserved in a saline rock enclave. This colossal prehistoric humanoid can be traced back to the Jurassic era, where he survived by hunting and eating T-Rexes with his weapons being his bare hands. His innate ferocity defies human comprehension and strikes fear into the hearts of any animals close to his person, a true apex predator.
Despite his strength and durability being considered on par with Yujiro, he is not quite as intelligent or technical due to being a caveman. However, he is quite a physical specimen, with canines strong enough to tear through the thick scales of a dinosaur.
3 Baki Hanma
The Ogre’s son, Baki, is one of the few characters in the entire series that can rival him, as expected. As the story’s titular protagonist, he rose to the title of World’s Strongest Boy by the fourth installment of the manga series.
When he was pitted against Yujiro, the result of the colossal battle hung by the slender thread of a punch-off, a battle of endurance that concluded with Baki narrowly tasting defeat; however, Yujiro acknowledged Baki’s ascendancy as a peer. Baki has continued to grow after their previous battle, and it is not a stretch to say they might even be equals now.
2 Musashi Miyamoto
Musashi Miyamoto was a legendary samurai swordsman whose supremacy was unparalleled in his era and perhaps throughout time. It is said that Musashi was resurrected in a sense, with his essence cloned from his spinal tissue. Sabuko Tokugawa melded the empty clone with Musashi’s soul, granting him his old memories and skills.
He is the progenitor of the Niten Ichi-ryu sword style, which embodies the fusion of two swords as one, and as an extension, the Niten Ichi-ryu school, which teaches his skills and philosophies. All of the battles between Musashi and Yujiro end up in a stalemate, with them completely matching each other.
1 Yuichiro Hanma
Yuichiro Hanma is the father of Yujiro and arguably the strongest character ever referenced in the story. Baki clearly took after him, as they are both kind-hearted and gentle, unlike Yujiro. He, alongside Baki and Yujiro, are the only characters ever to use the Demon Back technique, implying that it was passed down through their incredible bloodline.
Two thousand US Soldiers lost to him in the Okinawa territory during WW2, and he accomplished this feat using only one technique. It is unknown if Yuichiro is actually stronger than Yujiro, as they have not faced off in a high-stakes battle. Still, it has been heavily implied that Yuichiro is the only man that Yujiro cannot defeat. Yuichiro’s essence can be seen mocking Yujiro in the fight against Baki, criticizing him for struggling so much against a child.
