With manga length getting shorter over the years, fans are seeing more stories conclude each year, and 2024 was no different. Some major mangas this year, and their conclusion will certainly leave a gap in the industry. Here are the biggest mangas that ended this year in 2024.

Cipher Academy
Release Date | November 21, 2022 |
Last Chapter Date | February 5, 2024 |
Number of Volumes | 7 |
Cipher Academy is a Shonen manga in Weekly Shonen Jump that had a decent run, lasting a bit over a year in the magazine. The manga went on to have in total 7 volumes when it concluded in early 2024. This manga was written by Nisio Isin, and illustrated by Yuji Iwakasi. When it comes to its story, it follows the main character Iroha Irohazaka, who studies at Cipher Academy, formerly an all-girls military school.
The manga didn’t end due to the story being wrapped up by the author. Instead, it was axed by Shonen Jump, which isn’t an uncommon occurrence with lower-performing mangas. The story was, however, interesting, and had some potential if allowed to flourish further.

Noragami: Stray God was, for years, a very beloved anime and manga. The manga ended in early 2024, January to be specific, and overall accumulated 27 volumes, excluding extras. The manga first started in 2010, which makes it a manga with quite a long run.
Unfortunately, fans were very dissatisfied with this ending, and for many reasons. The main issue with this ending was that it felt very rushed, and that was due to the authors wanting to wrap up this story. Noragami authors have been struggling with health issues, which caused the manga to go on an extremely long hiatus and basically killed the series.
This ending is unfortunate for any Noragami fans, and they can at least hope that Season 3 of Noragami will happen someday, as the anime has not returned since Season 2, which is also related to the hiatus the manga went on for so long.

The story and characters captivated many watchers, and the fights were definitely something many people stayed for. The manga started in 2018 and ended in 2024, which is a decent run for a manga, lasting around 6 years in total.

JJK ended with Sukuna’s defeat. However, many fans weren’t happy with the ending, and even with its popularity, everything felt very rushed. Many story plots were dropped last minute by the mangaka, Gege, such as the merger. This left fans disappointed, to say the least, but thankfully, they still have a brand new epilogue to look forward to with the release of the final volume soon, as well as a new anime season and movie in the upcoming year. Fans are also hoping for some kind of sequel to continue this universe’s story in the future.

My Hero Academia is a manga nobody will forget anytime soon. For years, it has become one of the most iconic manga worldwide, reaching high levels of popularity. The manga started back in 2014, and ended this year, in 2024, alongside Jujutsu Kaisen, which was also quite a hit in Shonen Jump. The series was ongoing for 10 whole years and gave manga fans an iconic story and very memorable characters.
The final fight took place between Deku and Shigaraki and was one that will be remembered for years, especially once it gets animated in the final season of the series. Not all fans were happy with the ending, especially as it didn’t progress Deku and Ochaco’s relationship, but an epilogue in the final volume expanded upon it a bit further, and pretty much made official the couple of Deku and Ochaco. The epilogue also tied other loose ends the story had when it ended. While MHA has ended, fans can still expect some MHA content, specifically some spinoffs and the Vigilantes anime coming next year.
Horikoshi has made this series very lovable, and this manga will definitely have an impact on future series published in Shonen Jump after it. With MHA gone, Shonen Jump has a huge gap to fill, especially with other big series such as JJK ending as well.
