Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is the sequel to Naruto. The initial announcement garnered a lot of attention, and fans were eagerly awaiting its release. However, the series did not live up to expectations. It fell short on many fronts, which is possibly why it went on hiatus.
Despite its shortcomings, there is no denying that the series has a lot of potential. Boruto: Naruto Next Generations has the opportunity to improve and come back stronger. One of the main flaws of the series was its improper handling of characters. Except for Boruto and Kawaki, the rest of the cast barely had any screen time, which must change when Part 2 begins.
7 Mitsuki
Mitsuki is the son of Orochimaru, one of the Legendary Sannin. He spent the majority of his time trying to find the reason for his existence. Mitsuki wasn’t interested in becoming strong or achieving greatness. All he wanted was to find the sun that would illuminate his path.
Mitsuki eventually found it in Boruto, and the two became rather close. After graduating from the Academy, Mitsuki and Boruto were placed on the same team. Mitsuki got a handful of opportunities to show off his power, and he impressed the audience. However, as the story progressed, Mitsuki was pushed into the background. The series must bring him back into the fray and give him a chance to develop as a character.
6 Sarada Uchiha
Sarada is probably the first Uchiha who doesn’t have any kind of mental trauma. She is the daughter of Sasuke and Sakura, two of the most well-known ninjas in the history of the Hidden Leaf. Sarada is the leader of the new Team 7, and it is easy to understand why.
Sarada is able to think ahead, and her plans are focused on making the best of a situation. Sarada also has a great deal of respect for Naruto and wants to become the Hokage. While her dream is definitely noble, she cannot become the leader of the village with so little screen time. Hopefully, the writers treat her better in Boruto Part 2.
5 Hanabi Hyuuga
Hanabi Hyuuga is the heiress of the Hyuuga Clan. She is Hinata’s younger sister, and arguably the stronger of the two siblings. From a young age, Hanabi showed a great aptitude for fighting, which earned her a place in Hiashi’s good books.
Hanabi is currently a Jonin who oversees the team of Sumire Kakei, Namida Suzumeno, and Wasabi Izuno. For all her talent, Hanabi has rarely been involved in any major events in the manga. She has a lot of potential, and she can be a character similar to Neji Hyuuga if used properly.
4 Konohamaru Sarutobi
Konohamaru Sarutobi is the grandson of Hiruzen Sarutobi and the nephew of Asuma. He was heavily inspired by Naruto, and he strongly believed that the latter would become the Hokage. Konohamaru went as far as to say he would be the next Hokage after Naruto.
Konohamaru’s main highlight in Naruto came against one of the bodies of the Six Paths of Pain. The young ninja used the Rasengan to damage the Naraka Path, which was extremely impressive considering each body was absurdly powerful. With an impressive showing in Naruto, he was expected to be one of the stronger characters in Boruto. However, he has been misused and hardly given any time in the limelight. To make matters worse, he had to be rescued by his students.
3 Moegi Kazamatsuri
Moegi Kazamatsuri is the captain of the new generation of Ino-Shika-Cho. She has come a long way, all thanks to hard work. Moegi suffers from the same problem that many Boruto characters do—no screen time. Moegi possesses Wood Release, which is one of the strongest Kekkei Genkai in the series.
However, she hasn’t had the opportunity to utilize this power. All previous wielders of the Wood Release have been pivotal to the plot in one way or another, so it feels weird that Moegi has not received the same treatment. Hopefully, this will change in Part 2.
2 Shinki
Shinki is the adopted son of Gaara and one of the most talented ninjas in the story. He was introduced in the Chunin Exams, where he blew away almost every competitor. Shinki has Magnet Release Kekkei Genkai, which enables him to control Iron Sand.
The Iron Sand is a much more powerful variant of Gaara’s regular sand. The only other known user of Iron Sand is the Third Kazekage of the Hidden Sand. Shinki can also use puppets to great effect, making him a truly fearsome opponent. Shinki is indubitably an incredible talent, and he should be used more in the next part of Boruto.
1 Himawari
Himawari is the younger sister of Boruto Uzumaki. She is a kind and compassionate person who always tries to help people around her. Himawari is more understanding than Boruto, and she doesn’t get angry as easily.
Himawari possesses the Byakugan, which she managed to awaken without any training. This is a testament to her potential, considering even the most talented Hyuuga clan members have to work hard to unlock the Dojutsu. Himawari can become a powerful character if she receives proper guidance. Also, given that she is Naruto’s daughter, she needs more attention in Part 2.
