It is quite easy for the fans to see that Team 7 is one of the core elements of the entirety of the Naruto series. At the beginning of the series, Team 7 was established in Naruto as a group of the main characters, which included Naruto Uzumaki, the protagonist, Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, and of course, the leader, Kakashi Hatake. This team was the core of the Naruto series, and everything that happened in the story revolved around them. From being an amazing team that headed out on small-time missions, such as chasing after lost cats, all the way to saving the world, this team did it all. They won the hearts of the fans while doing what they did, and it is safe to say that they will forever be remembered as the greatest unit in the entirety of the Naruto franchise, which includes Boruto.

The Strengths Of The Old Team 7

When it comes to the strength of the old Team 7, it can be said that they are incredibly powerful, and second to none in their own story. The peak of each character in Team 7 is absolutely insurmountable in the story. The main character, Naruto Uzumaki, reached an incredibly high level in the Fourth Great Ninja War. Naruto gained the power of the Six Paths, and achieved Six Paths Sage Mode. With its powers, he was able to save dying lives, create something out of absolutely nothing and breathe life into it, fight against mighty individuals such as the Ten-Tails Jinchuriki, and even hold his own against the likes of Kaguya. Undoubtedly, Naruto was a mighty force at the end of the series, and the strongest shinobi to have ever lived by far. Meanwhile, Sasuke was also around his level, although a tad weaker. He also gained powers from the Sage and awakened the Rinnegan. His eternal Mangekyo Sharingan was also a major threat and, of course, he kept his wits about him, which meant that he was one step ahead of most individuals he was fighting against.

As for Sakura, she managed to surpass the Fifth Hokage by achieving the Bakugou and showcasing her true strength in war. Sakura even managed to catch up with Naruto and Sasuke at one point, but eventually ended up falling behind them later down the line. Regardless, Sakura was easily among the strongest in the war, and that is admirable, to say the least.
Meanwhile, Kakashi also grew stronger as he gained perfect control over the power of Kamui, gaining the ability to use it on much bigger targets, such as the Gedo Statue, and using it multiple times on the same day. On top of that, at his very peak, Kakashi was given Six Paths Chakra by Obito, along with the power to wield two Mangekyo Sharingan. He became so strong that he could fight against Kaguya, injure her greatly, and play a role in her sealing. Kakashi was easily one of the mightiest ninjas during this battle, and that certainly is an incredible feat for him or anyone else.
Undoubtedly, the might of the old Team 7 was incredible and in the Naruto series, they were easily the greatest to have ever been seen.
The New Team 7 In Boruto
The New Team 7 Is A Mighty Force
The new Teams 7 in Boruto is composed of the protagonist, Boruto Uzumaki, Sarada Uchiha, and of course, Orochimaru’s son, Mitsuki. The team is led by none other than Konohamaru, Who fans know aims to become the Hokage of the village. In theory, this Team 7 should not be as strong as the old one, but, given how the Boruto series has gone, they certainly have achieved quite a lot already. The protagonist, Boruto, has achieved a very high level of power.
After the 3-year timeskip, Boruto has reached a point where he can take down individuals as strong as Code without his limiters, without too much trouble. He can keep up in battle against the likes of Hidari, a Shinju, and almost destroy him in battle. All this is without Boruto even tapping into his Karma power, which fans know that he will go on to master later down the line. It is safe to say that Boruto is stronger than Naruto’s Six Paths Sage Mode form already.

Sarada Uchiha lags behind. She is nowhere near the level of Boruto, and does not compare to either Sakura Haruno or Sasuke from Team 7. But, it must be remembered that she has not shown her true capabilities yet, and much of what she has learned remains unknown. Mitsuki, on the other hand, has showcased his powers of Sage Mode already. While he’s strong, he is certainly not strong enough at this point in time and he too, just like Sarada, needs more time to develop. The team leader, Konohamaru, is also underwhelming and doesn’t even compare to Kakashi in any way. But, once again, giving him the benefit of the doubt, he can go on to gain strength, especially since he wants to become the Hokage.

There’s another member of Team 7, named Kawaki, and he is a very important character in the Boruto series. He’s about as strong as Boruto Uzumaki and has the same powers as Isshiki, and when he goes on to master his powers fully, he is certainly going to be stronger than Sasuke Uchiha, at the very least. Both Boruto and Kawaki are stronger than Naruto and Sasuke from the end of the 4th Great Ninja War, and they alone are strong enough to match the old Team 7. Then taking into consideration the fact that Sarada will likely reach a similar level, as well as Mitsuki, it almost becomes an overkill.
Strength Isn’t Everything In Storytelling

Unfortunately, the way fans consume media sometimes can convolute how a series is rated. For instance, the characters in Boruto are quite strong. Aside from Naruto Uzumaki’s Baryon Mode, Boruto surpasses every other ninja in the story by far. Sarada and Mitsuki are likely going to reach very high levels of strength, at the very least, surpassing the likes of Sakura. But, strength isn’t everything. In a story, what matters the most is storytelling, and this is where Boruto falls short. Boruto is a decent story, to say the least, but, in terms of quality, especially when compared to Naruto, it is subpar. Boruto’s story doesn’t hold a candle to what Naruto managed to deliver and it will never go on to become half as popular as the original series, because while the concept of the story is interesting, it simply doesn’t have the complex characters, the Incredible and deep storylines, and the ability to expand the world in interesting ways.
Boruto has largely been unsuccessful as a Naruto sequel, even though fans will continue to watch it. Of course, it is not a total failure, given that it does maintain a certain level of popularity, but it will never go on to reach the same heights as Naruto. Boruto might have overpowered characters, and their Team 7 might even be stronger than the old Team 7. But, that is all that it has to say for itself, because in every other department, Naruto is leagues above it.
