The last few chapters have been dull, and while the vast majority of chapter 18 was no different, there were bits and pieces in there that the fans were excited by. Kawaki finally getting to talk to Amado and wanting his true power back was certainly one of those moments and now, things are finally looking great for the future of the Two Blue Vortex manga.
How Amado Weakened Kawaki In The Past
- Amado Reconstructed The Karma Into Kawaki
- Amado Set Kawaki’s Stats To Defensive Mode
Amado is one of the most important characters in the Boruto series for a multitude of reasons and when it comes to Kawaki and the Karma, he’s certainly the one who knows the most. It was Amado who explained the functioning of the Otsutsuki Karma to the fans in the first place, and now, he continues to explain the ideas surrounding the functioning of the Karma, and at the same time, plays a pivotal role in Kawaki’s Karma usage. For the fans who don’t remember, Kawaki lost the power of his Karma long ago, when Isshiki ended up dying. For the very first time in his life, he was karma-free, just as he had initially wanted. But, the threat of the Otsutsuki, along with his need to protect Naruto Uzumaki, was such that he ended up wanting to regain the Karma.
When Amado offered him the chance to reconstruct the Karma, Kawaki was open to it and he unleashed this power into the battle against Code, where he, later on, went on to kill Boruto Uzumaki for the first time. Of course, Boruto Uzumaki ended up surviving this ordeal. However, fans now knew that Kawaki was just as strong as they had expected him to be. Since then, Kawaki has gotten way stronger and the power of his Kokugan has matured too. He’s now like a full-fledged Otsutsuki, making him a powerful fighter. That said, his powers are greatly limited at the moment.
Kawaki is strong, but not strong enough to beat the likes of the Shinju. This is extremely strange, especially when Boruto Uzumaki, in comparison, is far stronger. Finally, fans found out the reason in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 16, when the two brothers finally conversed. Boruto revealed to Kawaki that his powers had been greatly restricted by none other than Amado. For Boruto Uzumaki, it was important to reveal this key bit of information, especially since he sought his help in taking down the Shinju for good.
Following this massive revelation, in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 18, fans saw Kawaki confront Amado about this issue and threatened him immediately after. Now, Amado is forced to reset Kawaki’s stats and make him stronger than ever before.

Based on Amado’s modifications to Kawaki’s body, he was made a bit too underwhelming offensively. That’s not to say that he was weak. Having his powers limited certainly had its own benefits. According to Amado, the stats that he had set for Boruto Uzumaki were such that he was now extremely defensive. His offensive output had certainly dropped, but his defensive powers were greater than ever before. Kawaki was built in a way where he could sustain just about any damage and recover from it within a matter of minutes. Furthermore, Amado as far as to say that Kawaki was essentially borderline immortal, meaning any and all injuries that he received were healed almost immediately. This just goes to show what a great advantage Kawaki received in battle with the modifications.
Give me my power back, right now! — Kawaki
While Kawaki’s defensive modifications ensured his overall safety, what he had to give up in exchange was certainly very significant. Without his offensive output, there was absolutely no way for Kawaki to fight against the elites of the Boruto world and beat them. Characters like Boruto Uzumaki couldn’t be defeated by Kawaki at any cost, and more importantly, the new and powerful beings, Shinju, were way above his level.

Fans already saw that the power required to kill a Shinju needs to be tremendous. Even at his maximum output Uzuhiko, Boruto couldn’t get rid of Hidari. For Kawaki to stand a chance against them in his defensive mode would be preposterous. That’s precisely why Amado is now set to change his stats permanently. As explained in the previous Boruto chapter, Amado will make his attacking stats high and lower his defensive stats greatly. While he won’t be the tank that he once was, his overall power output is going to rise significantly and that’s something fans absolutely can’t wait for.
Can Kawaki Defeat The Shinju?
Kawaki’s Overall Power Should Help Him Beat The Weaker Shinju
Close
Fans know that the Shinju are very powerful creatures and that taking them down isn’t easy for anyone. That said, the power levels of the Shinju vary greatly. While the likes of Mamushi are likely the weakest, Jura is the strongest. There is absolutely no way that Kawaki can go on to defeat Jura or Hidari. But, beating individuals like Mamushi certainly should be possible for him.
Boruto, if you try to take on Jura right now, you’ll die. — Kashin Koji
Right now, Matsuri is up against Konohamaru and it is likely that he’ll have to deal with her on his own. Meanwhile, Ryu has already begun combat against Team 7 and the Sunagakure duo. It is likely that these battles will conclude without the involvement of the likes of Boruto and Kawaki. If they succeed in this battle and take down two Shinju officially, then the ones left behind for Kawaki would be Jura, Hidari, and Mamushi. Jura is likely to be Boruto Uzumaki’s main battle, and Hidari is likely going to be taken down by none other than Sarada Uchiha. This means Mamushi will be the one who Kawaki will test his new powers against, and he’ll most likely succeed in beating him fully. Following Mamushi’s defeat, Kawaki is likely to go for Jura, but this is a battle that he won’t be able to win on his own. Boruto and Kawaki will most definitely have to combine if they want to prevail over a threat as strong as Isshiki. It is only a matter of time before fans get to see these incredibly exciting battles break out.
Boruto is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of Boruto, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 18, is set to be February 20, 2025.
