Boruto marked the conclusion of its first part a few months ago and fans are incredibly excited for the second half of the story to finally begin. Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is all set to be released next week and fans cannot wait to see their favorites finally return. The next generation will be taking the age by storm, however, it isn’t just them that the fans are waiting for.
The old beloved Naruto characters that everyone adores are also going to make their return and one character that everyone has their eye on right now is none other than Sakura Haruno. Sakura is an incredibly important character when it comes to the original Naruto series, however, her role in Boruto has not been what fans expected it to be. Perhaps, it is time for Sakura to take a more pronounced role in the series.
The Current Events Of Boruto
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations ended on quite a grim note for some of the most beloved characters in the story. Naruto Uzumaki, the 7th Hokage that everyone loves so much, was sealed away by Kawaki, although the latter believes that it was for his own good. After Code’s attack on Konoha, Kawaki came to the conclusion that Naruto needed to be kept safe and, for that reason, he wishes to eradicate all the Otsutsuki Clan members. While defeating the Otsutsuki is hard enough on its own, it is even harder for Kawaki to kill one particular member of this clan and that is none other than his very own brother, Boruto. Currently, Boruto Uzumaki serves as the vessel of Momoshiki Otsutsuki.
Boruto’s Otsutsukification has now officially completed. It is beyond any doubt that Boruto will not turn into Momoshiki permanently through the completion of the Karma extraction. However, if Boruto were to lose himself, Momoshiki would be allowed an opportunity to take over and that is precisely what he was aiming for. Kawaki, knowing that Boruto is still a threat, wants to eradicate him. At the end of the first part of Boruto, Kawaki took his brother’s life from him and made it so that everyone would hate him and blame him for the death of the 7th Hokage. Boruto ended up leaving the village since everyone’s memory was rewritten, however, Sarada and Sasuke came to his aid. With Sasuke, Boruto defected from the village and thus the four-year timeskip period finally began.
Sakura Haruno Steps In
With all the drama going on in Konoha and some of its strongest not being available at the moment, this could be the perfect opportunity for Sakura to show up and prove to the fans that she is one of the elites of the village. Sakura already proved herself to the world during the Fourth Great Ninja War. She was able to fight alongside Naruto and Sasuke and even played a role in saving the entire world. When it comes to strength, Sakura managed to surpass Tsunade, and she accomplished all this while still being a teenager. She still had her best years as a Shinobi ahead of herself and Sakura certainly excelled even further.
After the war, she was recognized as one of the strongest in the village and, what’s more, her role as a medical ninja became even more important, with her being assigned as the head of the medical unit of Konoha. Sakura also progressed in ninja arts to the point where she gained resistance to genjutsu. In fact, the level of Genjutsu that she could resist was so strong that even a Perfect Jinchuriki such as Naruto could not resist it. She gained immense chakra reserves, enough to continuously pour them into Naruto’s body for 3 days. By adulthood, all of her abilities had been taken up a notch and by the time of Boruto, Sakura is certainly one of the strongest in the entire village. That is precisely why Sakura Haruno could end up playing a significant role in the series and fans certainly cannot wait for that.
Sakura’s Role In Boruto
While Sakura has all that it takes to succeed in Boruto and is, in a way, destined for greatness, given her progression through the years, her treatment in the series has been nothing short of disappointing. This isn’t something that just Sakura suffers from. The vast majority of the Naruto cast in Boruto has been treated with a lack of care and respect. The story barely expands beyond Boruto and Kawaki and even the likes of Naruto and Sasuke see their importance eroded over time.
That said, at the beginning of Boruto, both Naruto and Sasuke certainly enjoyed important roles in the series. One could argue that this was because the author wanted to get the fans hooked on Boruto, however, now, they are not as relevant as they were before. When it comes to Sakura, she is a character who was a part of Team 7, and not just any side character, like Rock Lee. Sakura should certainly have had a bigger role to play in Boruto. If Naruto and Sasuke received their shine, Sakura should have as well.
Sadly, the writers saw it fit for Sakura to not play any major role in the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations manga. However, it is never too late to fix the mistakes in a story. With the current predicament that Konoha faces, this could be the perfect opportunity for Sakura to show her worth. Right now, Naruto Uzumaki has been proclaimed dead and Sasuke Uchiha has defected from the village. The world of Shinobi is in utter chaos and they need a powerful pack of ninjas to lead them forward in this difficult time. This is the perfect opportunity for the likes of Sakura to take things in their own hands and show why they are worthy ninjas and deserve more attention in the story.
Sakura In Boruto: Two Blue Vortex
In Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Sakura should be receiving a bigger role to play. This is especially true since the village will be without Naruto for around 4 years. Kakashi Hatake might well be re-elected as Hokage, given that he previously served in this position before Naruto took over. However, Sakura should be in contention for the position of 8th Hokage, if electing one were to be discussed. This would also draw parallels to how Tsunade was elected in Naruto. After the death of Minato, Hiruzen retook his role as Third Hokage. When Hiruzen ended up dying, it was his female student, Tsunade, who ended up becoming the Fifth Hokage.
Similarly, if Kakashi serves the role of Hokage during these years, eventually, this position might be transferred to Sakura, provided Naruto does not return anytime soon. There are contenders for the position of 8th Hokage, however, none of them are ready at this point in time. Konohamaru has proven himself to be a weakling in the story so far, barely getting involved in any fights, while Sarada is still way too young to be given this position. If a new Hokage is elected, there is no one better suited to this position than Sakura Haruno.
Right now, it would be better for the village to appoint an interim Hokage. Kakashi would serve this role well, however, if Naruto does not return, the only person deserving of this position is none other than Sakura. That certainly is not all. Konoha is going to be under threat as soon as Boruto: Two Blue Vortex begins. It must be remembered that Sasuke and Naruto are not there to protect the village anymore. This role now falls on the shoulders of the strongest ninjas that the village has currently and Sakura certainly stands out at the top. Fans can only hope that the second part of Boruto gives her a more pronounced role as she certainly deserves more attention.
