The Z-Fighters are some of the most powerful warriors in the entire Dragon Ball multiverse, and they have only gotten stronger as time has passed. Due to this continual increase in power, they have gradually gone from collectively being weaker than Nappa to being the ones chosen to defend their universe in a battle royale against the strongest fighters across all plains of existence.

Much of the reason why these characters are so powerful is because of the extensive years they have spent training and perfecting their movesets, to the point where each of them has an insanely powerful ultimate attack that is unparalleled in its destructive capabilities. So, let’s take a look at the strongest moves of every single Z-Fighter in Dragon Ball and see why they’re so dangerous.

Chiaotzu’s Self-Destruction

Chiaotzu's Farewell, Mr. Tien from Dragon Ball

First Appearance

Dragon Ball Z, Episode 18, “The Power of Nappa”

Story Arc

Saiyan Saga

Chiaotzu is a member of the Z-Fighters who is often forgotten about these days as he has little importance to the current plot. Still, though, he played a significant role in the Saiyan Saga, particularly in the battle against Nappa, where he tried to save Tien.

Farewell, Mr. Tien!

How it works

Although this move may seem to be powerful at first glance due to Chiaotzu gathering enough energy to sacrifice himself to use it, it was so weak that Nappa suffered virtually no damage from it. By blowing himself up, however, it added depth to Chiaotzu’s character by having him sacrifice himself for his best friend.

Yamcha’s Spirit Ball

Best DBFighterZ Supers- Yamcha Spirit Ball

First Appearance

Dragon Ball, Episode 139, “Rematch”

Story Arc

Piccolo Jr. Saga

Yamcha has long been the laughingstock of the entire Dragon Ball franchise. However, when he made his debut in the first third of the franchise, he was quite a formidable martial artist with a host of techniques up his sleeve that allowed him to fight against Goku and others.

What? I actually won?!

How it works

Although its name may suggest this, the Spirit Ball doesn’t work the same way as Goku’s Spirit Bomb. By facing his left palm upwards, Yamcha gathers his energy and shoots it off in a ball of Ki which he can control quite proficiently. After firing it, he can control its trajectory with his fingers, allowing it to hit opponents multiple times.

Master Roshi’s Max Power Kamehameha

Dragon Ball Master Roshi Kamehameha Tournament of Power

First Appearance

Dragon Ball, Episode 8, “The Kamehameha Wave”

Story Arc

Emperor Pilaf Saga

Master Roshi is the oldest of all the Z-Fighters, though this doesn’t mean that he is the weakest. His life of practicing martial arts and knowledge of his Ki has made him a master of the Turtle Hermit School and one of the strongest mortals in Universe 7, which is reflected in his creation and mastery of the Kamehameha.

Move well, study well, play well, eat well, and rest well. That is the Turtle Master way!

How it works

The Kamehameha is the most iconic move in not only Dragon Ball but all of anime. It was created by Master Roshi and he has a version of this attack that only he can use. Though it is slow, the Max Power Kamehameha is incredibly powerful as it requires him to be in his fully powered form and demands a longer charge-up time.

Tien’s Neo Tri-Beam

Tien's Tri-Beam in Dragon Ball Super

First Appearance

Dragon Ball Z, Episode 152, “Say Goodbye, 17”

Story Arc

Android Saga

Tien is a man who has devoted his entire life to martial arts and is one of the few characters in the series to have never stopped training since the day he was introduced. Tien has had a few powerful moves during the story, but none are more deadly than his Neo Tri-Beam.

Your attack was like a spring breeze, it had absolutely no effect.

How it works

The Tri-Beam starts with Tien joining the tips of the fingers on each of his hands and creates an empty space between his palms. Energy is then condensed here, which Tien then fires off in gigantic square-shaped Ki blasts that are strong enough to incapacitate Android 17-absorbed Cell. However, this attack saps a lot of energy from Tien, almost killing him if he uses it repeatedly.

Krillin’s Destructo Disc

 Krillin Using Destructo Disc 2

First Appearance

Dragon Ball Z, Episode 21, “Nimbus Speed”

Story Arc

Saiyan Saga

Since Krillin also grew up and trained in the Turtle Hermit School like Goku did, he was also quite proficient in the techniques of this school, like the Kamehameha. However, he would later go on to become an amazing fighter in his own right and create many powerful moves to make him the strongest human in the series, chief of which was the Destructo Disc.

But if I don’t try, then there’s no one left to protect my friends!

How it works

By raising one arm into the sky with his hand open, Krillin summons his Ki and condenses it into an extremely flat and sharp disc that rotates very fast. This powerful attack remains an extremely deadly one in this franchise, as its cutting power is so formidable that even Goku has been seen using this move from time to time.

Android 18’s Infinity Bullet

Infinity-bullet-feature

First Appearance

Dragon Ball Z, Episode 194, “Free the Future”

Story Arc

Cell Games Saga

Android 18 made her debut within the franchise as a powerful murder machine that was hell-bent on destroying Goku and the world. However, she underwent significant character development and eventually turned into a mainstay member of the Z-Fighters.

You fight quite well for being such a little man.

How it works

Android 18’s Infinity Bullet is a variation of the Power Blitz attack seen by various characters throughout the story. By holding out her hands in front of her, she uses her infinite energy to form innumerable Ki blasts that all fire off in rapid succession. She was first shown to use it when Future Trunks went back to his timeline and fought her.

Goku Ultra Intsinct Gohan Beast Vegeta Ultra Ego Is Dragon Ball Too Reliant On New Transformations - Featured Related Is Dragon Ball Too Reliant On New Transformations?

One of the series’ most iconic facets has now overtaken its identity. But is there a path that lies beyond new Super Saiyan forms or divine states?

Goten And Trunks’s Versions Of Their Father’s Attacks

DBS Goten Trunks in the forest

Goten and Trunks are the young sons of the series’ deuteragonists, Goku and Vegeta. While they certainly have the potential to be formidable fighters, their true strength is realized when they fuse into Gotenks, which they seem to do quite a bit. However, they each have their own powerful moves.

Now I’m gonna embarrass you, Goten!

How they work

Unlike the other Z-Fighters, their most powerful moves aren’t those that they have come up with on their own. Goten’s is his version of a Super Kamehameha, which he learned from his dad, whereas Trunks has the Big Tree Canon, a weaker version of Vegeta’s Final Flash. As Gotenks, however, they have a unique moveset from anyone else in the series.

Majin Buu’s Angry Explosion

jumnp force majin buu

First Appearance

Dragon Ball Z, Episode 236, “The Warrior’s Decision”

Story Arc

Majin Buu Saga

Majin Buu was originally introduced into the series as a monstrous villain who wanted nothing other than the destruction of everything. However, due to the Grand Supreme Kai’s influence, Buu gained a ‘good’ side which eventually led to him helping the heroes as part of the Z-Fighters. Before this, however, he fought against Vegeta and used his powerful Angry Explosion Attack.

If you tease Mr. Satan, Buu punish you!

How it works

Buu’s Angry Explosion is a devastating attack that gathers a ton of energy into the villain, which he then fires off in a massive explosion around him, covering a very wide radius. This move was so strong that it left Vegeta heavily damaged. However, he hasn’t used this move since due to its power potentially harming his allies as well.

Piccolo And Gohan’s Special Beam Canon

Why Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Needs Beast Gohan and Orange Piccolo at Launch

First Appearance

Dragon Ball Z, Episode 4, “Piccolo’s Plan”

Story Arc

Saiyan Saga

The Special Beam Canon remains, to this day, one of the most powerful moves in all of Dragon Ball due to its incredible penetrating power. The move was first used and created by Piccolo when he utilized its power against Raditz and has been seen a few times since then, with the most recent showing being at the hands of Beast Gohan who used it on Cell Max. The concentrated penetrative power of the Special Beam Canon has rarely ever been seen anywhere else in the franchise.

You’ll laugh at your fears when you find out who you are.

How it works

As powerful as this move is, there is a drawback when it comes to performing it. To gather the sufficient amount of energy needed to have unstoppable power, the Special Beam Canon requires a very long charge time to be used at full effectiveness. The user takes the stance and places two fingers on their forehead, followed by a very long charge up to gather and concentrate the energy, which is why it is believed that others need to be present on the battlefield to distract the enemy for the attack to be used in its strongest form.

Vegeta’s Final Explosion

Majin Vegeta

First Appearance

Dragon Ball Z, Episode 237, “Final Atonement”

Story Arc

Majin Buu Saga

Vegeta has one of the most varied and powerful movesets in the entire series and most of these attacks are strong enough to destroy entire planets. However, his 2 most powerful moves, the Final Flash and the Final Explosion, are truly in a league of their own and the debate between the two could honestly go either way. However, the properties of the latter make it the more dangerous choice here.

Strength is the only thing that matters in this world!

How it works

By gathering all of his life energy within himself, Vegeta lets out an incredibly powerful explosion, similar to Buu’s Angry Explosion, that obliterates everything that the energy comes into contact with. However, the drawback here is that it can kill or severely weaken the user as well, and the only reason Buu survived it was due to his cellular regeneration. Vegeta used this attack again in the Tournament of Power to eliminate Toppo, though this time it didn’t kill him.

Goku’s Spirit Bomb

spirit-bomb-dbz

First Appearance

Dragon Ball Z, Episode 15, “Counting Down”

Story Arc

Saiyan Saga

Just like Vegeta, Goku’s repertoire is full of attacks that are so deadly that each could cause untold devastation. Although the Kamehameha, and the many variants that Goku uses, remain his most iconic move, the Spirit Bomb has to take it in terms of lethality, despite not working some of the times it has been used. What makes this attack so scary is the fact that it isn’t just Goku’s energy that makes it, but that of many living things!

Share your energy with me!

How it works

By raising his hands to the sky, Goku asks for the energy of living things. The amount of energy that he receives is directly proportional to how big and strong the Spirit Bomb is, with the largest and most powerful version being the one used against Kid Buu, which destroyed all of his cells and prevented his regeneration. However, just like the Special Beam Canon, the attack requires a lot of charge up, which is why another fighter to distract the enemy is almost required.
