Summary
- Tamagami are not the strongest villains in Dragon Ball since they were easily defeated by Goku, Vegeta, and Majin Duu.
- Goku & Vegeta’s weakened forms in Daima suggest the Tamagami could be stronger than most prior villains.
- The Tamagami may team up with heroes against Gomah, possibly combining to form a powerful entity in future episodes of Daima.
Ever since the start of Dragon Ball Daima, fans have been introduced to the central plot of the new series, which is to go around the Demon Realm in order to collect the Dragon Balls to wish everything back to normal. Although it was fairly clear that the Tamagami likely weren’t going to be the central antagonists, they did serve as an obstacle for the heroes on the journey to gather the magical orbs of this realm.
Eventually, each of them is defeated by Goku, Vegeta, and Majin Duu, meaning that the Demon Realm Dragon Balls have all been taken from their control. Although this new series is set after Dragon Ball Z’s Buu Saga, many fans have wondered just how strong the Tamagami are compared to the previous villains of the series, so let’s take a look at where they would stack up compared to the rest of them.

Dragon Ball has always been a series that has put strength and the pursuit of it as one of the central themes of the overall story, which often meant that most newly introduced characters were more powerful than those who came before. This is especially true for the villains of the series. However, in Daima’s case, the Tamagami are a far cry from being the strongest villains in the Dragon Ball franchise.
To understand the strength of the Tamagami, the strength of the Z-Fighters must be taken into consideration. At the start of the series, Goku and his friends were wished back into being kids, which meant that they had very little control of their bodies and their powers, since they couldn’t even fly the same way as they used to. The very act of turning them into kids also sapped away at much of their powers, making it so they couldn’t pose a threat to Gomah’s plans. This directly showed that they were far weaker than they were in their regular forms.

So, when Goku was fighting against Tamagami 3 in his base form and keeping up with him, it should be known that this was a version of Goku whose overall power was greatly diminished. When he eventually went Super Saiyan, the battle was over in a flash, which showed that a nerfed Super Saiyan 1 was enough to take down Tamagami 3. Because of this, it can be inferred that Goku, in his base form at the end of the Buu Saga, could easily defeat Tamagami 3.
It’s not outright stated that any of the Tamagami are stronger than the others, though many consider this to be the case as one goes down to the First Demon World from the Third. Still, though, Vegeta struggled a bit against Tamagami 2 initially but eventually unlocked his Super Saiyan 3 state, at which point the battle was already over. Concurrently, Majin Duu was able to defeat Tamagami 1 as well.
Oh come on! When did he learn to do that?!
The same thing regarding the strength of the Tamagami applies here, in the sense that Vegeta in his base form as an adult could have easily defeated Tamagami 2 at the end of the Buu Saga. However, the simple answer to everything changes when considering that the story itself claims that the Tamagami are stronger than even Majin Buu and Dabura.
Because of this, it can be inferred that the Tamagami are stronger than every villain before Majin Buu’s first iteration. Goku and Vegeta, in base, could only defeat the Tamagami due to the Zenkai boosts they received in the Buu Saga, which made their base and Super Saiyan forms so powerful by that point in the story. If the Tamagami fought any version of the villains before Majin Buu’s very first version, they would win against them but would easily lose to any of the versions of Super Buu and those who came after the arc ended.

As for now, the future of what Daima holds for these characters is a mystery, but this hasn’t stopped fans from speculating about what could happen. As stated before, although they do serve a bit of an opposition role, the Tamagami aren’t villains since they are just carrying out an ancient duty entrusted to them by their creator. Because of this, many believe that they will likely side with the heroes in the final battle against Gomah or Arinsu’s forces.
The way this plays out is unknown, but some fans have gotten interested at the possibility of having these 3 guardians somehow fuse into a singularTamagami who is incredibly powerful. Either they can do this themselves, through Neva’s magic, or even through the Join Bugs. Whatever it is, these characters will likely play a role in the future of Daima.
Dragon Ball can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
