In Dragon Ball Super, the team that got the closest to beating Goku and the rest of Universe 7 is Universe 11’s Pride Troopers. This group of powerful warriors is Universe 11’s pride and joy, so much so that all of Universe 11 members who participated in the Tournament of Power came from this group. However, ever since the Tournament of Power ended and all the universes went their separate ways, not much has been seen of the Pride Troopers.
The design of the group is influenced by other Super Sentai teams, like the Ginyu Force or the Power Rangers. They even do trope-y extravagant poses followed by an explosion of colorful smoke behind them. However, unlike the Ginyu Force or even their Dragon Ball Daima counterpart, the Gendarmerie Force, the Pride Troopers are generally more serious in tone.

The Story of the Pride Troopers
Guardians of the Universe (11)
The Pride Troopers is a group of warriors spanning the entirety of Universe 11, with the goal of fighting for justice. Whenever evil appears, the Pride Troopers dispatch a group of its members to deal with it. When and how the Pride Troopers came to be is still a mystery. The organization is practically ancient and existed even before Belmod became Universe 11’s current God of Destruction, which was about 240,686 years ago, according to Dragon Ball Super manga chapter 28, “The Gods of Destruction From All 12 Universes”.
Only ten members were shown in the Tournament of Power since ten is the limit of participants per universe. However, the actual number of members in the group is far greater, as they have several bases scattered throughout Universe 11, with a planet known as Netfiss being one of them.
“For those who invade sovereign worlds, we offer zero leniency… heed my words. As long as we stand guard, the brilliant light of freedom will never be extinguished!” – Top after beating a monster with Dyspo and Kahseral

Meet the Troop
Close
The Pride Troopers’ only known members are the ones who showed up in the Tournament of Power. Considering they were handpicked by Universe 11’s God of Destruction himself, it’s a safe bet to say these warriors are the strongest the organization has to offer.
- Top: Despite not being the Pride Trooper’s strongest, Top is, nonetheless, the current leader of the group. He is also next in line to be Universe 11’s God of Destruction and is undergoing personal training with Belmod. Top has a strong sense of justice and often gives speeches about what he thinks is righteous.
- Jiren: Also known as Jiren the Gray, he is not only the most powerful Pride Trooper, but also the most powerful being in the entirety of Universe 11. Even Belmod is said to be weaker than Jiren. Like Top, Jiren acts for justice, although he’s not as flashy as the rest of the troops and barely speaks.
- Dyspo: The speedster of this superhero team. He blitzes his enemies with rapid attacks, and his large ears can hear even the tiniest of muscle movements, allowing him to predict his opponent’s next move and react accordingly.
- Kahseral: The Pride Troopers’ general is an expert at ki-manipulation, and his techniques involve turning ki into weapons like sabers and smoke bombs. He’s very compassionate towards his comrades and cheers them up when he notices something is wrong, like how he did with Top before the Tournament of Power Started.
- Cocotte: A humanoid girl with long, dark pink hair. Her specialty is creating domes of ki that can either trap an opponent or defend herself and her allies.
- Vewon: This member looks like he has the head of a dinosaur and the body of a human. His most notable move is the Justice Whip, which is a whip made of ki used to restrain targets.
- Tupper: A humanoid with teal skin, and acts as the team tank. Tupper can change his weight and petrify his skin to make himself sturdier.
- Zoire: A small creature with two horns, Zoire’s main move is the Justice Spin, where he rapidly spins, creating a whirlwind that can deflect ranged attacks and damage opponents.
- K’nsi: A short guy with blue-green skin and pointy ears. K’nsi shapes his ki into threads, which he can use to tie up a target to pull them closer or restrict their movements. They can also be primed to explode like mines when someone gets too close.
- Belmod (former member): While not shown in the anime, Toyotarou, Dragon Ball Super‘s illustrator, created a bonus sketch that revealed Belmod was once a member of the Pride Troopers. This was before he became Universe 11’s God of Destruction. He left to become a Destroyer because he had a disagreement with Gicchin, Jiren’s mentor. Gicchin believed in the importance and power of teamwork, while Belmod believed in individual strength.
Gicchin was possibly also a member of the Pride Troopers, but neither the manga nor the anime really confirm this. Jiren’s mentor taught him everything he knew about fighting and was the one who suggested he join the Pride Troopers.

The Origin of the Pride Trooper Members’ Names
The Pride Troopers are almost all named after kitchen utensils. The only known exception is the ex-Pride Trooper Belmod, who is named after the alcoholic drink Vermouth, in the same way all the other Gods of Destruction are named.
- Top: Is just “pot” spelled backward. In Japanese, his name is “Toppo”, and if you swapped the positions of its katakana, it would spell “potto”, the Japanese pronunciation for “pot”.
- Jiren: Based on the word “renji”, which is Japanese for “oven”.
- Dyspo: A pun on “disposal”.
- Kahseral: His name is a close soundalike to “casserole”, a large cooking pan.
- Cocotte: No spelling changes needed. A Cocotte is the French counterpart of a Dutch oven.
- Vewon: His name in Japanese is “Buon”, which is based on “obun”, the Japanese pronunciation of “oven”.
- Tupper: His name is derived from “Tupperware”.
- Zoire: Pronounced as “zoi-ray”, and is a play on “reizoko”, the Japanese word for refrigerator.
- K’nsi: His name is an anagram for “sink”.
