Fallout: 5 Factions Missing From The Show

The world of Fallout is home to many different factions. Here are some notable ones that didn’t appear in the first season of the show.

Highlights

  • The Fallout TV series effectively portrays key factions like Brotherhood of Steel and hints at potential appearances in future seasons.
  • The Followers of the Apocalypse offer humanitarian aid and protection to survivors, providing shelter and medical assistance in the wasteland.
  • The Minutemen faction represents unity and lawfulness in Fallout 4 and could add a source of conflict to the TV show’s storyline.

The Fallout TV series on Amazon Prime did a great job of exploring most of the important aspects of the games. Anyone watching the show without having played any of the games will instantly know how things work in the wasteland, what kinds of creatures have survived in the post-apocalyptic future, and the vital role Vault-Tec had in the survival of some of the last remnants of humanity.

However, a key part of the Fallout games is the many different factions that have formed in the power vacuum left after the Great War. The show did a great job at introducing The Brotherhood of Steel and hinting at the future of The Enclave. There were even a few nods to the New California Republic from Fallout: New Vegas. While it’s great to see these factions getting the recognition and time in the spotlight they deserve, some notable ones were overlooked during the first season. With a second season being greenlit, however, there is a chance that some of the Fallout factions that didn’t appear in Season 1 may make an appearance in Season 2.

The wasteland depicted in the Fallout games is often shown to be an unforgiving place full of few comforts. However, that does not mean that everyone who survived the dropping of the bombs was an evil monster. In fact, anyone who joins The Followers of the Apocalypse is far from corrupt.

Mostly referred to as just The Followers, this faction is a group of humanitarian soldiers. As a result, their main aim is to roam the wasteland and provide shelter and medical aid to anyone who needs it. The Followers are a pacifist organization, but that does not mean that they will allow anyone to willingly attack someone in their ranks who needs protection. Since this faction will willingly enlist former members of other factions, it is easy to see how some of the characters in the Fallout show could fit in with them.

Fallout: Best Characters In The Show, Ranked

Amazon’s Fallout series has introduced several characters that have already resonated with fans. These are some of the best.

Not much is known about this mysterious organization, and players must find and complete a series of complex puzzles to join their ranks. Their main goal is clear, though. While other factions in the wasteland are happy to use and discard machines and synths, The Railroad seeks to protect these robots as they deem their lives to be just as important as real humans. It may not provide the most significant of plot points, and the show has only shown a few robots so far, but it is easy to see how The Railroad faction may be the focus of an episode of Fallout in the future.

It should come as no surprise, but slavery ends up being a big issue in the post-apocalyptic wasteland seen in Fallout. Sadly, one of the main factions in the series, Caesar’s Legion, gets a lot of its power from enslaving huge parts of the wasteland and crucifying anyone who stands in their way.

When the Legion kidnapped a former member of The Followers, Edward Sallow, he was able to give this faction knowledge of survival and warfare. This advice allowed him to quickly rise through the ranks to become the dictator of the group, changing his name to Caesar. Under this new leadership, Caesar’s Legion managed to control a large section of the Mojave region and would have taken over The Strip if not for the player’s actions in New Vegas. As such, it is easy to see how a big group like this could become the villains of an entire season of the Fallout show.

The Institute

  • Debuted in Fallout 3

The Institute is a hidden scientific organization that played a small role in one of the quests in Fallout 3 before becoming one of the major factions in Fallout 4. It is comprised of a group of individuals who are motivated by inventing technology to help secure power for themselves in the wasteland, and their main weapons are a legion of robots known as “synths.”

Since The Institute is aloof to any other faction in the wasteland who do not share their goal of scientific progress, they often find themselves in conflict with other groups, particularly with The Brotherhood of Steel. With this in mind, it is easy to see how the faction could appear in the Fallout TV show. They could be a major enemy for Maximus to face or just something The Ghoul and Lucy encounter during their travels. Either way, this faction would undoubtedly be a great addition to the story.

Shortly after the bombs fell during the Great War, a government group tried to hold society together with rules and logic. Sadly, these individuals failed, and the wasteland became the lawless wild place it is in the Fallout games. However, some civilians still believe in the unity of the people of the wasteland, and they will always be around to help unite settlers or provide survivors with new shelter. This group is known as The Minutemen faction, and it has a large role to play in Fallout 4.

The Minutemen are depicted as one of the most lawfully good factions in Fallout 4, so it would be easy to portray its members well in the TV show. Some of the main characters may not agree with this faction, and others will openly accept their ideology. This is especially true for anyone who has lived in a vault. Taking all of this into account, this faction could be a great source of conflict in the show.
