Superman has been the headline for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s post-Snyderverse DCU, with the new Man of Steel set to be the first project from the new franchise to hit theaters. Starring David Corenswet in the lead role and featuring a fairly large number of prominent DC characters that are also set to make their DCU and live-action debuts, the film has even been confirmed to usher in the return of the iconic Fortress of Solitude to the on-screen Superman mythos. All in all, things have been looking up for the film and viewers have been paying close attention to anything even tangentially related.

With the film months away from its premiere, no related content has made as big a splash as the While the Superman trailer has been an instant wellspring of user-generated content, including getting the Smallville treatment in a fan edit, one specific tribute to the footage stands out as even more a labor of love than any other. Social media user Trevor Carlee on X posted a remade version of the trailer, trading out the high-end visuals for footage made entirely with Lego. Incredibly, the Lego version is almost a one-to-one remake of the original trailer, to the delight of other fans on the platform. This included epic attention to detail such as including injuries, certain effects and more.
The trailer, which got lots of the trailer’s more interesting details down to a T, including the Man of Steel’s iconic (albeit not always kosher) red trunks, also piques the interest of DC head honcho and Superman writer/director James Gunn, who responded to the clip on X.
Gunn has been a major force on social media long before taking on the mantle at DC Studios, and since then has been a wellspring of information and clarification for fans and casuals alike. His endorsement of the post helped it reach even more fans, many of whom enjoyed the clip and applauded the skill of the production in the comment. Many of the comments also point out the incredible speed involved, with the creator managing to finish and publish the near-perfect recreation in less than a week. Per a reply from the original creator to one such query, the trailer was done in six days flat from the very moment the trailer dropped.
After the doom and gloom that fans had to endure for several years across multiple projects with the Snyderverse’s version of Superman, the bright colors and apparent optimism are some of the most important lessons that Superman (2025) should learn from the celebrated 1978 version. The trailer managed to capture all that with its visuals, framing and even the slightly controversial retooled score, and the LEGO version somehow managed to hit all the same notes. With a level of dedication, attention to detail, and work ethic that even a total stranger to the world of animation can appreciate, Trevor Carlee’s work is the perfect example of just how excited fans are for the coming release and how dedicated a fanbase still exists around a character that some claim is past his prime and undeserving of top billing in the new DCU.
With Creature Commandos setting up good things for the DCU, the stage is set for Superman to really start the live-action section of the franchise with a bang. The reactions and love the trailer has garnered so far certainly seem to suggest continued success for Gunn and Safran as they delve into the premiere Gods and Monsters chapter of their reboot.
Superman is set for theatrical release on July 11, 2025.
