When it was announced that JJK was getting an epilogue, fans were desperately hoping that they got some information on the Gojo clan, and it is safe to say that they finally have what they wanted, in a way. While this clan still remains to be full of mysteries, fans now know an additional member of this clan, who also happens to be its current acting head.

The previous head of the Gojo clan was none other than Satoru Gojo himself. Satoru was introduced to the fans at the very beginning of JJK, and he went on to become one of the most important characters in the franchise. In fact, Satoru was the face of the franchise, and quite easily the most popular character worldwide. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that he was the best character that the series had to offer, and everything about him, from the way he carried himself, all the way to his immense strength, was absolutely mesmerizing for the fans. It also boded well for him that he was the head of the Gojo clan.

It is unknown exactly when Satoru became the head of his clan, but, due to his incredible power, that is, the ability of the Six Eyes, and at the same time, the cursed technique of the Limitless, he was essentially invincible. Having the greatest power of all meant that he could do whatever he wanted as the head of the Gojo Clan, and of course, his parents got certain benefits as well. In many ways, held the position of the most important person in the series, given that he had the strength to kill just about anyone on a whim, if he wanted to.
Thankfully, Gojo was not evil, and only wanted a revolution to fix the rotten order of the Jujutsu Society. Unfortunately, things changed greatly when Satoru Gojo died in the Shinjuku Showdown arc of JJK. His death came in the battle against Sukuna in chapter 236, which meant that now, the members of the Gojo clan were an easy target for the other clans, and at the same time, their influence was slowly reducing as well. Fans were wondering as to what exactly happened to the Gojo clan following Gojo’s death, and Gege did not provide any answers in the original story. Now, however, the answer is clear. Many years into the future, the Gojo clan still exists as a powerful group, and it appears that their new acting head had had something to do with it.
How Yuta Became The New Acting Head Of The Gojo Clan
Yuta And Gojo Share A Distant Ancestor
Much to the surprise of the fans, the new acting head of the Gojo clan is revealed to be none other than Yuta Okkotsu. In the new epilogue that was published recently, along with the release of the final volume of Jujutsu Kaisen, it was essentially confirmed that Yuta Okkotsu is the acting head of the Gojo clan. When Panda stopped functioning in the year 2035, he was stored in the facility of the Gojo clan. By this time, Yuta had already assumed the position of the acting leader of the clan which means that in the 17 years following the conclusion of JJK, Yuta went on to assume tremendous power, and at the same time, influence within the Gojo family.

It doesn’t surprise the fans that Yuta ended up becoming the head of the Gojo clan. For one, both of them share the same ancestors. This was mentioned himself in the original story, and fans know that Michizane no Sugawara is a common ancestor for both of them, which means that there is a strong tie that they share.
Gojo even hinted at Yuta being more talented than him in certain ways, which might have been brought out by him to the absolute fullest at the end of the story.

Fast forward to the year 2080, Yuta is apparently an old man. In fact, fans even got to see Yuta’s grandchildren, and they are certainly very exciting characters to watch. By this time, Panda was in the storage unit, where Yuta’s grandchildren went exploring. Much to their surprise, Panda still moved, and it was revealed that despite Panda stopping functioning in 2035, he still moves occasionally. Panda found it hard to believe that the kids were Yuta’s grandchildren because of their personality being the complete opposite of his. Regardless, it was certainly exciting to see Yuta rise to this high position.

It is hard to say whether the fans will see more of the Gojo clan in the future of JJK or not. For one, fans don’t know if Jujutsu Kaisen will get more one-shots and epilogue chapters. But, if it does, then, the character of Yuta Okkotsu is most definitely going to be elaborated upon. In that case, fans will see the dynamics at play behind the Gojo clan, and what exactly happened after the conclusion of the Shinjuku Showdown. It will also be interesting to see how Yuta acquired this high position within the Gojo family, and how strong he ended up becoming at the end of things.
Gege hasn’t revealed any plans of continuing JJK at the moment, but he has mentioned clearly that he wants to continue as a mangaka. Whether that will be with a new story altogether or a continuation of JJK remains to be seen.
The only thing fans can hope for is that even if Gege starts a new series, occasionally, Gege decides to do one shots on the story, revealing to the fans exciting elements following the events of the Shinjuku Showdown arc.
The new epilogue that was released with the final volume of the series just went on and showed fans that there are still many mysteries in the world that need to be explored, and that the world still has a lot of potential.
The future of the Gojo clan, and the many other mysteries that fans want to know the answer to, depend on the author, Gege himself. All fans can do is hope for a continuation in some way or form. But, for now, the focus of the author is on getting proper rest and treatment for all his health related issues. If and when Gege is going to publish new JJK content, fans will most definitely find announcements about it in Shuiesha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 2025.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s Epilogue was released with its Final Volume. JJK’s Final volume is out in Japan on December 25, 2024. The English version of the Volume will be published at some point in 2025.
