Still, Yuji was able to learn quite a lot over the years, and become an impressive sorcerer. He developed powerful techniques, such as Divergent Fist, and with this amazing power, Yuji was able to fight against quite a few impressive sorcerers.
Following his training, Yuji was actually able to impress the fans quite a lot in the Kyoto Goodwill Event arc. He clashed against Todo and put up somewhat of a fight, and here, he grew once again when he fought alongside Todo against Hanami. In this fight, Yuji was actually able to hit four black flashes, which is nothing short of staggering. Once again, Yuji showed tremendous growth potential in this battle, and it was only the beginning for him, as Yuji continued to grow tremendously following the events of this arc.
In the Shibuya Incident arc, Yuji once again showed incredible growth in battle. Not only was he able to fight against Mahito, overwhelm him in certain instances, and defeat him, but he also managed to hit a completely new level. In Choso’s very own words, Yuji had now become a Demon God, and that paints quite a picture of his immense growth. In the Culling Game arc, this skill of Yuji was taken to the next level, and he once again, was shown to develop greatly.
In fact, it can be said that by this time in the series, Yuji could actually hold his own against Special Grades easily, and that was quite impressive. In fact, when Sukuna switched from Yuji to Megumi, fans got to see him quite in an exciting fight against him, and even tank his powerful slash-based attacks. From there, Yuji continued to grow, and during the timeskip of this series, which, although short, was also significant, Yuji leveled up even more, and fans got to see his strength in a completely new light when he fought against Sukuna in the Shinjuku Showdown arc.

It was clear to fans that Yuji would gain some amazing abilities as he fought Sukuna, and that is exactly what ended up happening.
Right off the back, the very first skill that fans saw Yuji utilize after returning from the timeskip was reverse cursed technique. This is an incredible power that allows one to heal themselves by multiplying negative energy with itself, and giving birth to positive energy, which heals.

Gaining reverse cursed technique was the first step for Yuji to reach the next level and hit the expectations that Gojo had set for him. Secondly, Yuji was able to gain Blood Manipulation, which is a powerful cursed technique. Although he hasn’t mastered this ability just yet, eventually, he will become a very powerful user of this ability, and he will be able to surpass all those who have been seen using it. Right now, Yuji can use powers such as Piercing Blood, which is impressive on its own.
Above all, Yuji recently hit a powerful black flash against Sukuna, and even before being hit, Sukuna knew that he was going to be utilizing this amazing skill. Right now, it can be said that Yuji is among the very best sorcerers in the JJK, and that he has the potential to be the strongest sorcerer in his prime.

The question of whether Yuji can surpass the likes of Gojo and Sukuna is a very intriguing one. For one, he is not on their level at this point in time. In fact, he might not be on their level for quite a while. However, given the tools that he is blessed with, it is certainly possible for him to reach that level of strength.
For one, fans know that Yuji has access to Blood Manipulation, and now that he has unlocked his true potential, he will be able to take this cursed technique to the very next level, and potentially even unlock skills like Domain Expansion. Furthermore, Yuji also has access to incredible reverse cursed technique, which will now be boosted as well, thanks to his Awakening. On top of that, Yuji is capable of hitting black flashes almost at will. In Shibuya, it was as if Yuji was hitting these amazing blows at will, and perhaps his awakening would help him do that as well.
If that is the case, then Yuji will become the first sorcerer in history to hit black flashes at will, and that makes him a terrifying opponent for anyone. Above all, there is a chance for Yuji to actually unlock Sukuna’s very own powers, which has been hinted at in the story on many occasions. If that ends up happening, then, undoubtedly, Yuji will be the strongest sorcerer in his prime, far passing even the likes of Gojo and Sukuna.
