Jujutsu Kaisen: Why Miguel Doesn’t Stand A Chance Against Sukuna

Miguel’s addition in the battle against Sukuna was met with a lot of hype from fans, but here’s why he can’t beat the King of Curses.

Highlights

  • Shinjuku Showdown arc in Jujutsu Kaisen is packed with intense battles and memorable moments, keeping fans on the edge of their seats.
  • Sukuna’s unstoppable power has left Jujutsu High struggling to find a way to defeat the King of Curses, even with new allies like Miguel.
  • Despite being a powerful sorcerer with a unique Cursed Technique, Miguel is no match for Sukuna’s overwhelming strength and abilities.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s Shinjuku Showdown arc has been going on for many chapters at this point and has seen some incredibly memorable moments. Starting with Gojo’s battle against the King of Curses, there hasn’t really been much of an instance since then where fans of the series can relax and catch a breather, since every single chapter delivers on the hype to make the upcoming one even more exciting.

Ever since Gojo’s defeat, Sukuna has singlehandedly been fighting and defeating the rest of Jujutsu High, to the point where the heroes are running out of fighters to face the King of Curses. The ending of Chapter 254 of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga saw the return of Miguel to the series and, despite the series building up his clash against Sukuna, there is a reason why his presence won’t make a difference to the villain.

Throughout the history of Jujutsu Kaisen, there has always been a single name that has struck fear into the hearts of everyone who has heard it. While the series is no stranger to powerful characters such as Gojo Satoru or Kenjaku, Sukuna has always been a character that was in a league of his own, spoken about in whispers and treated as more of a myth than an actual person.

Born in the Heian Era over 1000 years ago, Sukuna was originally a human being who got his start in life as a Jujutsu sorcerer. However, for undisclosed reasons, he eventually became evil and turned his back on his comrades, committing vile acts and eventually transforming into a full-blown Cursed Spirit who had such an incredible amount of Cursed Energy that he also became the strongest Jujutsu user of his time.

Any hierarchy other than strength is boring, if you ask me.

This legend came with quite a lot of evidence, as Sukuna’s power was so immense that no one could stand up to him anymore, letting him rule over the Heian Era with an iron fist. In his prime, he vanquished various other powerful characters as well as entire armies with his terrifying Cursed Technique and mastery over Cursed Energy, making it so that no one else could ever stand up to him. Upon his reincarnation into modern times, this trend continued.

Sukuna’s power was built up from the very start of the series, but only in Chapter 236 was it confirmed, as he took out the immensely powerful Gojo Satoru. After a hard-fought battle against someone who made every other character look weaker than a child, Sukuna eventually came out on top against Gojo with his unending knowledge and power with Cursed Energy.

Since then, Sukuna eventually regained the strength of his true Heian Era form. Taking on sorcerer after sorcerer, Sukuna has managed to defeat every single opponent that he has come across, proving that no one is equal to him. Now, after most of the cast of Jujutsu High has met their end at his hands, Miguel has just joined the fight and, despite Gege Akutami hyping him as someone who fought equally against Gojo, Sukuna is just far superior.

Cursed Technique

Prayer Song

Miguel is actually an incredibly powerful sorcerer and an expert combatant. Chapter 255 of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga revealed Miguel’s Cursed Technique, which is unique as it helps him in fighting off Cursed Spirits and bolsters his already impressive physical attributes. Prayer Song gives Miguel a specific beat that is etched onto his body and when he dances to this beat, his physical prowess is increased and Cursed Spirits are warded off.

He is quite a formidable foe, as he used his technique and the Black Rope to fight against Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and his eventual showing against Sukuna was actually quite impressive, all things considered, as he used dancing with his Cursed Technique to dodge all of the slashes that Sukuna fired his way. However, even with all the power that he has as well as the unique strength of his Cursed Technique, Miguel never stood a chance against Sukuna.

What a waste of talent!

While the outcome of their battle (at the time of writing) has not been seen, Sukuna is a monster who exists solely in his own realm. Even after killing Gojo and all of the other extremely powerful sorcerers that he has fought, he still hasn’t been shown using his full power or even all of the abilities that he has at his disposal. Due to this, no single sorcerer in the series can ever hope to be as powerful as the King of Curses alone.

The only damage that has been dealt to Sukuna was in his fight against Gojo, where he sustained critical injuries, but it was also a fight where he did not go all out. Despite being strained from that battle, he has killed some characters who are far stronger than Miguel, and even while in an incredibly weakened state, Sukuna is able to hold off Miguel, Yuji, Maki, Choso, and Larue. If the fight ever transforms into one with just him and Miguel, the King of Curses will reign supreme.

Jujutsu Kaisen can be streamed on Amazon Prime and Netflix.
