The overwhelming majority of isekai anime focuses on two main genres; action and fantasy. But as this genre grew and matured, more and more series began to incorporate other genres into their isekai stories. One of the most popular ones has to be isekai+comedy. There have been several great series in this genre mix, such as How Not to Summon a Demon Lord, Reincarnated as a Vending Machine, and Uncle from Another World, just to name a few.
However, one of the best isekai comedies has to be KonoSuba: God’s Blessing in This Wonderful World. And now, in the spring of 2024, a new season of KonoSuba is finally upon us. From how much of the light novel will be adapted to the crazy antics that you’ll find in season 3, here’s what to expect from the new season of KonoSuba, according to the light novel.

Megumin is a fan-favorite character in Konosuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World, and here are some interesting facts about the character.
Where the Last One Ended and the New One Begins
Before it became famous for its anime, KonoSuba was originally a light novel of the same name, written by Natsume Akatsuki with illustrations by Kurone Mishima. This series was adapted into manga in 2014 and turned into anime in 2016, with the second season aired in 2017. In 2019, KonoSuba was also adapted into a feature film called KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! Legend of Crimson.
From Light Novel to Season 1, Season 2, and a Movie
Just like any other novel to anime adaptation, there are scenes or minor storylines that are lost during the process of translating the words in the book to the animation on the screen. But for the most part, KonoSuba’s anime adaptations are relatively faithful to its source material.
Furthermore, the anime has been consistent in the amount of content from the light novel that they adapt to every season of the anime. Two books for a full season. The first season was adapted from the first and second volumes of the light novel. The second season was adapted from volumes 3 and 4. The movie was the adaptation of the fifth volume.

From Light Novel to Season 3
Based on the pattern established by the previous seasons and the feature film, it is safe to assume that the third season of KonoSuba will adapt the sixth and seventh volumes of the original light novel. Not only that, it is also highly likely that the number of episodes will be identical to the previous seasons, which is around 10 episodes. The first half will cover volume 6, while the other half will focus on volume 7.
Introducing Princess Iris Stylish-Sword Belzerg
As Kazuma and his quirky party members continue their journey as adventurers in this new season, they will encounter several new characters that will become a huge part of their journey. Out of several new faces that will appear in this new season, the most stand-out one has to be the first princess of the Kingdom of Belzerg, Iris Stylish-Sword Belzerg.
The Royal Tsundere
Character Name | Iris Stylish-Sword Belzerg |

First Appearance | KonoSuba Light Novel Vol. 6 |
Release Date | August 21st, 2018 |
Despite her bizarre tendencies and her profession as an adventurer, Lalatina Ford Dustiness, more commonly known as Darkness, is still technically a daughter of a noble family. That’s why it comes as no surprise that she, and her party, receive an invitation from the royal family. Much to their surprise, when this ragtag group of barely competent adventurers arrives at the royal palace, the one who awaits them is Princess Iris Stylish-Sword Belzerg.
Iris is a petite girl who may appear cold and indifferent at first. But once she feels comfortable with somebody, she becomes a curious girl who will use her cuteness to get what she wants. She is a royal Tsundere and Kazuma is her first victim. The interaction between them is hilarious, shocking, heartwarming, and cringing, all at the same time.
A New Trope
Character Name | Claire Sinfonia |

First Appearance | KonoSuba Light Novel Vol. 6 |
Release Date | August 21st, 2018 |
Every major character in KonoSuba fits into certain kinds of anime tropes. Aqua is an overconfident airhead, Megumin is an over-the-top tsundere, and Darkness is a helpless masochist. And now, with the addition of Princess Iris, this series finally unlocks another super popular trope, which is a tsundere little sister. The clash between characters who hold different anime tropes is one of the reasons why KonoSuba is so popular. And now with the addition of Iris, their interaction will only get more fun and chaotic.

9 Best Isekai Anime Like KonoSuba
Fans of KonoSuba will love what the following isekai anime have to offer, as they feature similarly comedic and light-hearted humor.
Funnier, Crazier, and More Unhinged Than Ever
Compared to other series in this genre, KonoSuba excels in creating hilarious character interaction which always leads to bizarre situations that happen either through their weird shenanigans or a series of unfortunate incidents. Their strange brand of humor is the reason why the fans flocked to every episode of this series. The new season will turn all of those things into eleven. Everything will be funnier, crazier, and much more unhinged than ever. Here’s a taste of what you can expect to see in Season 3.
Kazuma’s Castle Life
After the group’s brief meeting with Her Royal Highness Princess Iris, Kazuma will get a chance to spend some time in the Royal Palace. Truth be told, an unhinged person like Kazume is the last person who should live in such a classy and important place.
That’s why the time that he spent in the castle is undoubtedly one of the funniest parts of the story. From Kazuma’s heartwarming interaction with Iris to his cat-and-mouse routine with her trusted advisors and his funny off-the-cuff quip with the people who live in the castle, there will be so many hilarious moments during Kazuma’s stay at the Belzerg castle.
Body Swap and Thief Apprentice
Another stand-out moment that you can expect to see in season 3 is the time when Kazuma accidentally swaps bodies with a certain character. This is by far the most chaotic and hilarious situation in this arc.
Another notable moment is when Kazuma becomes a thief apprentice and is forced to go on a sudden night raid. Though not as action-packed as the battle scenes in the previous seasons, this is the part where Kazuma finally gets the chance to showcase his magic and physical abilities.
Those are some of the fun things that you can expect to see in the third season of KonoSuba. The new season is scheduled to be released on April 10th as part of Crunchyroll’s Spring 2024 anime lineup. So be sure to watch KonoSuba when it’s available.
