The newest episode of Mushoku Tensei pulls us two years into the future, with Rudeus still looking for his mother while adventuring under the name Quagmire. As Rudeus continues to suffer from impotence, receives a surprising offer that is just too good to refuse.
This episode sees Rudeus still reeling from his broken relationship with Sara while struggling to figure out what to do with his own life. This invitation offers Rudeus a chance to focus his mind on something else, and if the Man-God is to believed, will cure all the problems he’d been currently dealing with. Rudeus is about to enter a new chapter of his life, and there’s little doubt that he’ll come out changed by it all.
Two Years After
The adventuring party Stepped Leader heads out to take out a team of luster grizzlies, with Sol and Rudeus taking part. The group easily exterminate the grizzlies, but are blindsided by a sudden attack by an injured red dragon. The party begins to panic, but Rudeus quickly dispatches the dragon with his magic, crushing it in an instant. As the party celebrate while bringing back their haul, Sol invites Rudeus to officially join their party. Rudeus refuses the offer, however, as he plans on leaving soon in order to keep looking for his mother.
Some time after, Rudeus goes to eat breakfast at a local pub after doing his usual muscle training. There, he has an unexpected meeting with the elf adventurer Elinalise Dragonroad, although he does not know who she actually is until she introduces herself as a former comrade of Paul and Roxy. Elinalise tells Rudeus that Paul has discovered that Zenith has been discovered in the labyrinth city of Rapa, located on the Begaritt Continent. Relieved to finally know where his mother is, Rudeus plans to leave immediately, but Elinalise stops him. Because winter will bring harsh blizzard storms with it, she recommends that they wait until spring to head out. Rudeus is somewhat hesitant to just wait around, but accepts her suggestion.
Life With Elinalise
Rudeus continues his daily life, albeit with the addition of Elinalise, who is now living right next to him. Rudeus learns very quickly of Elinalise’s promiscuous activities, especially with those very activities keeping him up at night. Rudeus’s love life, in the meantime, has come to a complete standstill thanks to his impotence, and after having to deal with the issue after two years, Rudeus has come to give up on the idea of ever falling in love ever again. Having said that, Rudeus still has plenty of sexual desire, which only makes Elinalise’s antics worse on his mental condition.
One day, Rudeus comes out of his room to find Sol coming out of Elinalise’s. Sol is one of the many men that Elinalise has been sleeping with around town, and her sheer number of conquests makes Rudeus wonder exactly how she can keep so many men on her hooks. One of her methods is immediately revealed to Rudeus when she hands Sol payment for sleeping with her, insisting that he make sure that he never gets serious about her. Rudeus continues to put up with Elinalise’s nighttime activities, even though it’s clear that they definitely bother him.
A Wonderful Opportunity
One day, Rudeus receives a letter from the Ranoa University of Magic inviting him to enroll at their school as a special student. As a special student, he would be exempt from lessons and tuition and be free to research whatever he wanted. Rudeus is at first leery of such a wonderful opportunity, but it soon becomes clear that the offer is likely legitimate. Elinalise believes that it would be a good way to pass the time while Paul and the others search for his mother, but Rudeus disagrees. To him, getting his family back is his biggest priority, and while he’d like the idea of going to the university, he can’t take the offer when his mother is still missing.
Some time later, Rudeus meets with the Man-God again in a dream. The Man-God, like Elinalise, suggests that Rudeus go to the Ranoa University of Magic, but Rudeus once again refuses, claiming that finding his mother is more important. The Man-God then tells Rudeus that if he goes to the university and investigates the Fittoa Teleportation Incident, he’ll be able to recover from his impotence. Rudeus immediately jumps at the chance to cure his condition, saying his farewells to the other members of Stepped Leader and heading off to Ranoa with Elinalise. After a long period of travel, the two finally arrive in Ranoa, where Rudeus is set to meet some of the most important people in his life.
