While it’s clear that it’ll be a while before the two properly reunite, it’s good to see that the two still have a strong relationship regardless.

Sylphie’s Routine

Mushoku Tensei II Ep7 Sylphie Morning

The episode begins with a quick run-down of Sylphie’s daily routine. She starts the day with a run around town to familiarize herself with the streets and roads, making sure to disguise herself so that no one recognizes her as Fitz. She attends classes with Princess Ariel, but often finds them boring due to having already learned most of the class’s contents from Rudeus. Nevertheless, she happily helps Ariel with whatever questions she has.

As Fitz, Sylphie joins Ariel and Luke as they walk through the streets of Ranoa. As they chat, Sylphie remembers that Luke is in fact related to Rudeus, and noting his philandering behavior, wonders if Rudeus will end up the same way even if he gets married. She quickly concludes that he will, considering his father was the same way. That night, Sylphie dwells on her relationship with Rudeus, and wonders if it’s possible that she might want something more.

A Shocking Tragedy

In the meantime, Rudeus has been making progress with Julie’s growth, having taught her some Human words and the ability to cast silently just like him. Zanoba’s relationship with Julie has also become quite close, to Rudeus’s surprise, and the two treat Julie like another student. Zanoba, in his fervor over figures, decides to teach Julie about Rudeus’s craftwork by showing him some of the figures that Rudeus has made over the years. Rudeus then asks about the Roxy figure he gave him, and Zanoba tries desperately to avoid giving a clear answer.

Unable to fool Rudeus, Zanoba gives in and reveals the Roxy figurine, smashed into pieces. Rudeus immediately flies into a rage, but Zanoba quickly explains that he was forced into a duel with Linia and Pursena where he had to wager his most prized possession. When he lost, the figure was destroyed. Realizing Zanoba was not at fault, Rudeus quickly changes the target of his rage to Linia and Pursena, confronting them at school the next day. Rudeus taunts them into fighting, and quickly beats them with a mix of martial arts and magic. He quickly has the two tied up in sacks and taken to his room.

There, Rudeus once again confronts the girls about why he bothered to pick a fight with them. The girls don’t understand why Rudeus would be furious with them, but Rudeus quickly explains by showing them the destroyed figurine, explaining that Roxy was essentially his goddess. He even goes as far as showing them his secret Roxy shrine, freaking pretty much everyone else in the room out. Realizing the depth of Rudeus’s obsession, Pursena and Linia begin putting the blame on each other, while Rudeus and Zanoba continue to get worked up over the broken statue. In the heat of it all, Rudeus realizes that he could actually fix the figure pretty easily on his own, meaning he lacked a suitable punishment to force on the girls.

A Proper Punishment

Mushoku Tensei II Ep7 Linia and Pursena punishment

Rudeus decides to consult Fitz about the matter, telling him everything that had happened. After getting over the initial shock of Rudeus keeping two girls confined in his room, Fitz agrees to help Rudeus out. Rudeus and Fitz head back up to his room, only to find that Linia and Pursena were left alone for so long that they ended up wetting themselves. After helping them clean up, the girls agree to defer to Rudeus from now on, calling him “Boss.” Despite this, Rudeus doesn’t feel any actual respect from them, and Fitz feels the same way.

Fitz decides to punish them by using magical paint to draw on their faces. He explains that the paint becomes permanent if an incantation is said, and that he’ll use the incantation if Linia and Pursena don’t listen to Rudeus. He then tells them that he’ll erase the markings once they’ve worn them for a day. As Linia and Pursena leave, Linia asks Rudeus who taught him how to fight, and Rudeus tells her he was taught by Ghislaine, who he realizes is essentially Linia’s aunt. Learning this, the girls seem to have a newfound respect for Rudeus, and leave for the night.

Fitz remains in the room, and Rudeus asks about the specifics of the magical paint he had used. Fitz admits that all of that was a lie, and the paint could be removed quickly and easily. Fitz spends some more time with Rudeus in his room, and eventually Rudeus gets curious about Fitz’s face, which is always hidden behind sunglasses. Fitz asks Rudeus if he wants to see his face, but ends up declining at the last second, claiming that it was Ariel’s orders that his face be hidden. Fitz ends up leaving Rudeus’s room after that as Rudeus continues to deal with the conflicting feelings he has for Fitz.
