My Hero Academia chapter 421 dropped earlier today and was certainly an exciting chapter for the fans to enjoy. After the return of All For One, this chapter was always going to be incredibly exciting for the fans, especially because of Deku’s bad condition, as well as All For One’s growing power.

One of the most important aspects of My Hero Academia chapter 421 was when the Heroes that helped save the world popped out of a Warpgate. Knowing that Kurogiri was now on their side, all the heroes in Japan who were fighting previously returned to battle. All of them did a fantastic job, even though they were on death’s door already. Knowing that Deku was fighting by himself against the greatest enemy fall, they couldn’t just stay still. As they mentioned in the previous chapter, their bodies moved on their own, and they are all here, just as Deku is.
Imagine not taking a real stand here…Why even dream of being a hero then? What would the point be?
This is a beautiful message that Horikoshi sent to his fans, and it is one that moved all the readers to tears. It was an absolutely phenomenal way to put this message, and from there onwards, they did put in quite a shift in the battle against All For One. Deku himself was moved by how everyone was there to help him, and at the same time, this gave him quite some motivation to get back up once again, and head into battle right away. All For One, at the same time, was starting to grow more powerful. He realized that it was the pain of losing everything that made him stronger. However, the Heroes did not agree with his mindset.
This isn’t a surprise to anyone, and at the end of the day, all they care about is taking him down and going back to their peaceful and happy lives where they are allowed to be themselves once again. That is why Sero immediately jumped into battle, and, surprisingly, the Todoroki Family stepped in as well. Both Enji and Shoyo jumped into battle and delivered a powerful blow to All For One, opening up his defenses. However, this was not enough. Of course, the Heroes know that they have to stop his onslaught and open up a way for Deku to land a powerful blow on him, and that is precisely what appears to be the buildup from here onwards.
Deku Loses One For All
The One For All Has Been Lost Forever
Of course, Deku was always going to be a big part of My Hero Academia chapter 421, and the fans clearly saw him at the center of things. Deku clearly mentioned that he wanted to fight once again. However, just when Aizawa asked him about his recovery, Deku mentioned that he had lost the One For All for good. The Quirk does not exist inside of him anymore and it has essentially been destroyed after nine generations. All the vestiges that were inside of him do not exist either. All of them have now successfully passed on. One For All does not exist, however, Deku isn’t hopeless. The power of the One For All is still needed to end All For One, and that is going to be accomplished using the embers. For the fans who do not know, the embers of One For All are still inside of Deku.

I might not have had it for long, but it’s taken root in my quirkless self.
This isn’t the first time that the story has touched upon this concept. Once All Might transferred One For All to Deku, the Embers of One For All were inside of him, and he was still able to make use of this power for quite a while. It wasn’t until Kamino that the embers finally burnt out and that happened after he defeated All For One. Similarly, Deku has the embers of One For All inside of him, just like All Might, and he will make use of these embers to defeat All For One for good here. It is going to be a very difficult task for him. However, it is one that he must do, and he knows that he has a massive burden on his shoulders.
The entire world is putting their faith in Deku, and he knows the weight of that faith is immense. Still, Deku got up on his knees and once again, with the support of everyone, tried to run at All For One. From here onwards, fans will see the conclusion of the battle very soon and Deku will be the one who emerges victorious.
The Embers Of One For All
The Last Remaining Wisps Of The One For All Are About To Die
The idea of the embers of One For All is a very interesting one and fans might actually end up seeing Deku being quirkless once again. For now, the embers are inside of him. However, they won’t stay there forever. Deku will return to being quirkless at the end of this battle, and that will complete the cycle for him. This essentially means that Deku will be a hero without any quirks. However, at the same time, fans know that Deku is the Number One Hero at the end of the story.

How exactly that ends up happening is something the fans do not know. Perhaps, there is an open door for Deku’s Quirk to return to him. Or, there is some other way in which Deku gets to reach the #1 spot. At this point, fans do not know how this could be possible.
Regardless, it is certainly sad to see Deku not making use of the power that was entrusted to him by his idol, All Might. Still, fans know for sure that Deku is going to make the best use of the embers from here onwards and deliver a finishing blow that is likely going to be akin to the United States of Smash. Once that happens, the Quirk will likely pass on. In either case, fans are going to get a happy ending, with Deku as the savior of the entire world. How the Hero Agency changes from there onwards is going to be very interesting to see in the aftermath of the battle.
Sadly, the end of All For One cannot come next week, since My Hero Academia, along with all the other manga in Jump, is on break due to Golden Week. The story returns the week after, and that is when All For One will most likely meet his end.
