The former number one hero and the Symbol of Peace All Might (real name Toshinori Yagi) is a major character in the world of My Hero Academia. All Might possessed the quirk One For All, and with it, he became the most prominent hero in Japan. With his arch-enemy being All For One, All Might gave all he had to defeat him. In the first battle between All Might and All For One, All Might was gravely injured, which led to his deteriorating health. While he still saved people with a smile, he could no longer muster as much strength for long periods as in his prime. After finding Izuku Midoriya, All Might chose him to be his successor and passed on his quirk to him. Eventually, All Might confronted All For One again, and this time he defeated him, but at the cost of using up the last embers of his quirk.

After passing on the One For All quirk to Midoriya, All Might became effectively retired. He lost his powers, and his stamina also took a hit as he became weak. His level of strength was vastly different from what it was previously, as All Might’s stamina and strength were lower than those of a healthy average male. Moreover, his stomach injury prevented him from performing basic combat feats, and the Pro Hero Endeavor took his place as number one.

All Might’s Current Status

All Might in My Hero Academia

Although All Might accepted his loss of power and dwindling health, his weakness became apparent and frustrating to him. Living a life as the crippled ex-number one hero, All Might found his powerlessness extremely frustrating and supported Midoriya and the other heroes to help. While Endeavor took his place, the chasm that the symbol of peace left after his retirement was apparent to all. Although Endeavor gave it his all as the new number one hero, the swirling dangers the heroes faced made All Might regret his powerlessness, as he felt responsible for the extreme burden on the heroes and his students.

After All Might completely lost his quirk, he could do nothing but play the role of a supporter in the lives of others. As manga readers know, the final war arc has taken an interesting turn as All For One used the quirk-destroying bullet on himself, which Dr. Kyudai Garaki modified to rewind his deteriorating age rather than destroy his quirk. Fortunately for the heroes, the side effect of the drug is that All For One will keep rewinding until he becomes nothing. Despite the time limit of All For One’s current status, he has achieved his physical prime, which allows him to use every single quirk at his disposal to its fullest potential. This proves particularly troublesome for the heroes who try to stop him.

With All For One on his way to Tomura Shigaraki, All Might decides that it is time for him to join the battle. The retired hero is seen carrying hero equipment, which he plans to use in his battle against All For One. While he might be quirkless, All Might is certainly not taking on All For One powerless.

Will All Might Die?

all for one all might my hero academia

All Might plans to face All For One using hero equipment, but with All For One in his physical prime and All Might without his quirk, the heroic outcome seems unlikely. Despite All Might’s determination, All For One has demonstrated his immense power time and time again.

While there is a possibility that All Might may win this battle, it is widely speculated that he will not survive. Additionally, although Izuku Midoriya proved that fate can be altered, the late hero Sir Nighteye predicted that All Might would meet a gruesome end at the hands of an evil villain. It appears that this prophecy may soon come to fruition.
