My Hero Academia has become so popular that it has received three movies so far, with each of them being incredibly unique and fun for the fans to watch. Now, finally, My Hero Academia is getting yet another movie and there is already quite a bit of stuff that fans should know about it so far.
My Hero Academia Movie 4 Announcement
My Hero Academia movie 4 has finally been announced and fans are incredibly excited for what is to come in the future of the series. The announcement of a new movie was hardly a surprise to the fans. My Hero Academia is popular enough for it to get more movies and it is possible for this series to get yet another movie after movie 4. Despite that, the announcement of a movie is always filled with incredible excitement and something that manages to keep the fans on the edge of their seats.
In this week’s Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine by Shueisha, an announcement was made that confirmed that My Hero Academia movie 4 is in works. The announcement was made in jump issue #36-37 2023. While there were rumors of My Hero Academia getting a movie prior to this, a confirmation only arrived last week. Needless to say, fans are very excited about My Hero Academia movie 4 and cannot wait to see what Horikoshi has in store for them. Currently, the movie is only tentatively titled My Hero Academia the movie and this might change moving forward. More information on the movie is to follow very soon.
The Involvement Of The Author
When an anime or a manga series gets a movie, one of the very first questions that come to the minds of the fans is whether the author is involved in any way. Movies where the author has some sort of a role are, more often than not, much better than movies without them. Only the author knows how to bring his own characters to life and what plotlines to write about them in a particular media. While Horikoshi certainly brings his character to life in the manga, he doesn’t have the same control over movies often.
In the previous movies, Horikoshi has had some involvement, however not as much as he is going to have in the upcoming movie of My Hero Academia. According to what has been revealed so far, My Hero Academia movie 4 is going to have an original story created by none other than the author himself. This is incredible news for the fans and it means that the movie will have more of a ‘My Hero Academia’ feel to it than any other movie so far.
Furthermore, it has been revealed that My Hero Academia movie 4 is going to follow the characters’ ‘original plans’ by Horikoshi. What exactly this entails has not been made clear just yet. It could, perhaps, mean that the events of the movie will follow character arcs that the author had originally drafted but later tweaked to fit his manga. Given that authors change their ideas all the time while continuing to write their stories, it is plausible that Horikoshi tweaked several of his character arcs and now, he’s using the original ones in this upcoming movie. At the same time, it was also revealed that the upcoming movie is going to follow the same timeline as the TV anime, which means it is likely going to be set after the event of the Paranormal Liberation War, that is certainly something that has the fans excited.
The Premise For The Movie
Not much has been revealed about My Hero Academia movie 4 just yet, however, fans do know, at the very least, that the movie is going to be set in a way where it fits with the TV anime. This means the movie will most likely be set before the Final War Saga of My Hero Academia and after the Paranormal Liberation War.
The movie could very well be set during a time when Deku leaves U.A High School, or, perhaps, slightly after that. The only thing that fans know right now is that the upcoming My Hero Academia movie will be set in a ‘collapsed society.’ No further explanation has been given to the fans just yet, which means there is a lot of room left for speculation at this point in time.
Having a collapsed society means that it is possible for the villains to have overrun the country after the Paranormal Liberation War. How exactly this would fit with the original anime arcs remains to be seen, given that there isn’t much of a time jump between where the anime is now and what comes after. However, what fans do know is that this is based on Horikoshi’s original plans and doesn’t necessarily have to follow what he has currently been doing in his story. Perhaps, Horikoshi intended for a collapsed society at first but later on, changed his mind for some reason. Fans will likely get to explore this collapsed society and how Heroes would likely still be trying their best to preserve what little remains of it. The premise for the movie seems to be very interesting and it will be even more intriguing to see what characters play a major role in it, other than Deku, of course.
What Fans Can Expect
There is a lot to be excited about for the fans when it comes to My Hero Academia movie 4. Of course, the biggest question that any fan has right now is related to the canonicity of the movie. While the movie is certainly not going to be canon, it might fit in well within the timeline, as has been mentioned in the announcement. That means the fans can treat it as supplementary to the anime, however, not necessarily canon. It must be remembered that, at the end of the day, this is the author’s original plan and not what the story has become currently. Nonetheless, it is going to be something incredible for sure and fans are going to enjoy this movie, given that My Hero Academia doesn’t really have many opportunities for movies left, as the manga is coming to a close very soon.
Some fans are worried that the production of My Hero Academia movie 4 is going to affect the quality of season 7 of the series. After all, some animators do go on to work on the movie, leaving something to be desired when it comes to the quality of the anime. This has happened before with My Hero Academia and could potentially happen again, however, if the schedule is nice and nothing is rushed, fans should have nothing to worry about, and a lot to be excited about.
