  • Nejire Chan shows leadership skills in battle by reading the field and developing plans on the fly, making her a potential top hero.
  • While Nejire Chan’s Wave Motion quirk has downsides like vitality depletion, her ability to support allies and detain opponents is invaluable.

My Hero Academia comes packed with plenty of heroes and villains, all equipped with unique quirks to use in battle. Some of these quirks are better suited for the front of the line, capable of launching powerful attacks and defeating the enemy. In other cases, quirks can effectively avoid attacks and use them to navigate the battlefield. The power dynamic and dozens of quirks making up My Hero Academia make this anime so memorable, as heroes and villains fight to find their place in their societies and use their time to understand their quirks and make them more vital for the future.

While not all quirks are made equal, some heroes have a better understanding of their powers and have better control of them. Such is the case for Nejire Hado, one of U.A’s Big Three and a potential top hero in the making. Known by her alias, Nejire Chan, this hero has the potential to surpass some of the top heroes, having complete control of her quirk and a battle intellect that can match those of some of the best heroes of My Hero Academia. As part of the Big Three, alongside Tamaki Amajiki and Mirio Togata, Nejire is brought in to assist with the battle against the Shie Hassaikai raid, and her Wave Motion quirk can be a game-changer in battle.

Wave Motion is one of many emitter quirks in My Hero Academia, allowing Nejire Hado to convert portions of her vitality and create incredibly powerful shockwave spirals at her enemies. The shockwave spirals can be used to attack and defend, as Nejire can use them to fly around by dispersing a small amount of energy to lift herself off the ground. With this ability, Nejire Chan uses Wave Motion effortlessly to keep up with other heroes who can fly, and her control of the Wave Motion quirk makes it easier to use up as little vitality as necessary.

Despite being 17 at the time of her introduction, Nejire Chan exudes the confidence of a seasoned pro, mixed with the kindness and innocence of a child. Despite her happy-go-lucky approach, Nejire Chan is a fierce hero in battle, often concentrating on the battle at hand with laser focus and showing signs of a leader with her ability to read the field and develop plans on the fly. Her latent potential gives Nejire Chan a bright future, which is noted as the Number 10 hero, Ryukyu. Dragoon Hero “Ryukyu” takes Nejire under her wing, hopeful that Nejire Chan will surpass her and become one of the greatest heroes.

Nejire Hado’s Fighting Style With Wave Motion

My Hero Academia Season 6 episode 10 review Tenya Iida and Nejire Hadou

Nejire Chan’s Wave Motion uses many styles, not just for attacking villains on sight. While it may not be the strongest quirk in My Hero Academia, Nejire Chan’s cunning battle strategy allows her to gain the upper hand in combat. Despite Wave Motion’s slow speed after release, Nejire Chan can emit smaller pulses of shockwaves to get around the battlefield quickly, allowing her to get near the enemy and launch a barrage of close-range attacks. If Nejire Chan feels pressure and senses danger in her way, she has complete control of Wave Motion to distance herself while developing an alternative plan.

Since Nejire Chan can emit her shockwave pulses at any time, she can also use Wave Motion as a support attack to assist her allies and detain those opposing her. The versatility of her quirk allows Nejire Chan to concoct different strategies and ideas that help her side of the fight, matching with quick-thinking to avoid landing in sticky situations. It’s no surprise that she is a member of U.A.’s Big Three, as her ability to read the fight and use her quirk with relative ease matches the qualities of her fellow partners, Lemillion and Suneater. Together, the trio of heroes can make a near-unstoppable force.

Wave Motion’s Usage In Battle

my hero one's justice 2 roster

Nejire Chan’s introduction in My Hero Academia didn’t come until Episode 62 and was primarily featured in the Shie Hassaikai arc, so she hasn’t received much exposure. Despite her limited time in the series, Nejire Chan involves herself in a few moments that showcase her ability to be a compelling hero and work together with her allies. During the battle against the Shie Hassaikai army, Nejire Chan uses her Wave Motion to zip through the area and scan locations to advise her allies about the situation. Though her quirk doesn’t attack at high speeds, she can fly towards her enemies quickly and send a few smaller attacks to get the upper hand.

Wave Motion’s abilities don’t end with just a simple attack and mobility; Nejire Chan can also use her quirk to support others’ attacks. While Lemillion was taking on countless enemies at once, Nejire Chan sent a small burst of Wave Motion energy into the fists of Lemillion, granting him a significant boost in power of each blow. The teamwork between the two was My Hero Academia‘s way of showing off why these two members are a part of the Big Three, as Nejire Chan and Lemillion combined their strengths and gained momentum during the fight.

Since Wave Motion deals in a spiral pattern, Nejire Chan can also use it to detain her opponent. During the destruction of Jaku City, Nejire Chan joins the crew to save civilians and uses her quirk to move heavy objects around. While doing so, she could use Wave Motion to lift cars and rescue citizens by carrying them to safety. While attacked by a giant sludge-using villain, Nejire Chan sends her shockwaves to capture and detain the enormous creature, protecting those around her. In times of need, Nejire Chan has resorted to using 100% of her quirk to use the Nejire Flood attack, which involves twisting her hands in a spiral formation and releasing a flood-like energy attack.

The Downside of Wave Motion

My Hero Academia: 7 Best Gal Pals Nejire Hado and Ryuko Tatsuma Big 3

As with most quirks in My Hero Academia, Nejire Chan’s Wave Motion has downsides. Each use of Wave Motion chips away at her vitality, which means she can grow tired in extended battles. This puts Nejire Chan in a precarious situation, as remaining in a fight that extends past her quirk’s limits could put her in danger of facing attacks while being incapable of defending herself. Fortunately, her control over Wave Motion helps her know when she’s pushing toward her limits and when to ease off the quirk to preserve her vitality.

Nejire Chan’s other drawback is that her attacks aren’t strong enough to take out some of the stronger villains, so she takes a backseat in more intense battles, serving as a support. She does have Nejire Flood, which puts her attacks at 100% output, but launching the attack depletes her vitality at a higher rate. This makes the ultimate attack more of a last resort move, as performing it means she can’t participate any further. Regardless, the damage caused by the Nejire Flood may be worth risking it all in the heat of a fight.
