My Hero Academia’s Heroes have some pretty unique and interesting quirks. These are the strongest of them all.
The world of anime is extremely vast, but only a handful of series have managed to achieve success on a global scale, and over the past five years, My Hero Academia has become one of those series. It takes place in a world where most of the population has some type of quirk (superpower), and it focuses on Izuku Midoriya – a quirkless teenage boy who is given a quirk by his personal hero, All Might.
There are a lot of powerful quirks in this universe, and not everyone uses them for good; in fact, there is an entire league of criminals who are dedicated to villainy. Since villains exist, Heroes do too, and they all possess quirks that are both powerful and versatile, but some of these Hero quirks are more powerful than the rest.
Updated on March 17, 2023, by George Voutiritsas: My Hero Academia debuted in 2014, and it has gone on to become one of the more popular anime and manga series in the world. The series has one of the best power systems in all of anime, as the majority of individuals in MHA are born with their Quirks. As the story has progressed, fans have seen a number of unique and versatile quirks on both the Hero and Villain sides, and some of the best quirks happen to belong to Pro Heroes. The war with the Paranormal Liberation Front is over, and Season 6 is coming to a close, so it only seems fair to recognize a few more of MHA’s best Hero Quirks.

25 Somnambulist
Super Move:
Currently Unknown
Midnight died during the war with the Paranormal Liberation Front, but she went out fighting. She possessed the Somnambulist Quirk, which allowed her to put people to sleep. This occurred because she was able to produce a sleep-inducing aroma from her bare skin.
This Quirk worked better on males, which means that she could have technically beaten All Might in his prime. She used a feather fan during combat so that she could better spread her aroma, and her costume was designed to tear easily so her skin could be exposed.
24 Shield
Super Move:
Shoot Shield
Crust may have received very limited screen time, but at the time of his death, he was the No. 6 ranked Pro Hero in japan. Thanks to the Shield Quirk, he was able to create stone-like hexagon-shaped shields by growing them from his body.
He could expand his shields into larger shapes, and he would often use them to protect himself and others. This Quirk is great for defense, but it can also be used for offense. Crust could sharpen his shield’s edges to turn them into weapons, and he could perform ranged attacks by throwing them.
23 Voice
Super Move:
Loud Voice
Based on his appearance, Present Mic looks like comic relief, but when it comes to being a Pro Hero, he is a serious individual. His Quirk is called Voice, and it gives him the ability to increase the volume of his voice to such a degree that he basically unleashes a sonic scream.
This Quirk is strong enough to shatter glass and blow things away, and it can cause people’s ears to bleed from a distance. Thanks to Mic’s Directional Speaker System, he can aim his amplified voice in a specific direction.
22 Cement
Super Move:
Currently Unknown
Cementoss may look like a living slab of concrete, but he is indeed human, and he is actually one of the best teachers at U.A. high school. His Quirk is called Cement, and as its name suggests, it allows him to manipulate any kind of cement that he touches.
He can use this ability to restrain people, but he is mainly shown creating large slabs that can withstand a great deal of damage. He can manipulate the cement into any form or size that he likes, and there does not seem to be a time limit. Recovery Girl stated that this Quirk is one of the most difficult for other teachers to fight against.
21 Zero Gravity
Super Move:
Meteor Storm
Ochaco Uraraka is one of the most improved students from Class 1-A, thus making her one of the best female characters in My Hero Academia. She may not seem like a fighter, but she has a tactical mind, and she has trained in martial arts to better utilize her Quirk.
Zero Gravity allows her to nullify the effects of gravity on solid objects. This causes the objects to become weightless and float. She needs to touch objects with her fingertips, and she can release the effect by touching her fingertips together. This ability is great for restraining villains since they will keep floating, and she can move debris or use it as a weapon.
20 Hardening
Super Move:
Red Riot Unbreakable
Eijiro Kirishima is one of the students from Class 1-A, and he interned with Fat Gum after he received his Provisional Hero License. His quirk is called Hardening, and as its name suggests, it allows him to harden any part of his body. As a result, his body becomes rock-like and jagged.
This quirk gives Eijiro enhanced durability, but there is a limit to the amount of damage he can take before hishardening wears off. That being said, he has been able to strengthen his hardening through training. With this power, Eijiro can withstand most physical attacks and point-blank explosions.
19 Foldabody
Super Move:
Thousand Sheet Pierce
As the current No. 4 Pro Hero, Edgeshot is one of the best heroes in Japan, and he is the leader of a Pro Hero team called The Lurkers. He possesses the Foldabody quirk, which gives him the ability to make his body and limbs extremely long and thin.
Edgeshot can basically turn his entire body into a razor-sharp string, and this transformation occurs faster than the speed of sound. Edgeshot uses this quirk to move around very quickly, and he can use it to get into tight spaces. When attacking, he can pierce his opponents by folding his body into sharp shapes.
18 Dark Shadow
Super Move:
Black Abyss
Fumikage Tokoyami’s head may resemble that of a crow, but he is still very much human, and his quirk actually has nothing to do with it. His quirk is called Dark Shadow, and it allows him to produce a completely sentient shadow creature that is connected to his body.
Tokoyami can use this strong quirk topummel villains without having to get close to them, but Dark Shadow’s energy will drain quickly if it is exposed to very bright light. Through extensive training, Tokoyami’s control has improved to the point that he can now wear Dark Shadow like a suit of armor.
17 Arbor
Super Move:
Lacquered Chain Prison
There are quite a few anime characters with wood-based powers, and the current No.7 Pro Hero is one of them. His name is Kamui Woods, and his powerful quirk, called Arbor, allows him to enlarge and control his wooden body parts. He uses this power to create fairly durable tree branches.
These branches are meant to immobilize Kamui’s opponents, and he does this by surrounding and binding them. It is true that this quirk is extremely weak to fire, but when it comes to capturing villains, it is highly effective.
16 Gigantification
Super Move:
Canyon Cannon
Believe it or not, size does play a factor in battle, and that is why Yu Takeyama’s quirk is so effective. She is known as Mount Lady, and she is currently the No. 23 ranked Pro Hero in Japan. She possesses one of the best quirks in MHA, the Gigantification Quirk, and it allows her to grow to a gigantic size.
There is no middle ground with this ability though, as she can only choose to be her normal height or her giant height, which is taller than some large buildings. She can take on large villains like Gigantomachia, and all of her physical attacks are significantly enhanced.
15 Foresight
Super Move:
Currently Unkown
Sir Nighteye ran one of the best Pro Hero agencies in Japan, which is to be expected since he was once All Might’s trusted sidekick. Nighteye was a tall and lean individual, and thanks to his Foresight quirk, he was a very competent hand-to-hand fighter.
Foresight allowed Nighteye tosee another person’s future from a 3rd person perspective. In order to activate this quirk, Nighteye needs to touch and make eye contact with his target, but it can only stay active for an hour, and if it is used, it can’t be used again for 24 hours. This quirk may have a time limit, but it allows him to react to virtually any attack before it happens.
14 Fiber Master
Super Move:
Thread of Hope
Best Jeanist wears a comical amount of denim, but he also happens to be the current No. 3 Pro Hero. His quirk is called Fiber Master, and it gives him the ability to manipulate the threads of any piece of nearby fabric.
Tsunagu Hakamada’s quirk works best with denim, which is why he uses his own clothing to restrain villains. As long as his opponent is wearing some type of clothing, Jeanist can use his quirk to turn their own clothing against them, and this usually involves tightening string around their necks to knock them unconscious.
13 Whirlwind
Super Move:
Currently Unknown
My Hero Academia features quite a few elemental quirks, including the one used by Inasa Yoarashi, otherwise known as Gale Force. His quirk is called Whirlwind, and it allows him to freely control all the air around him.
This strong quirk gives Inasa the ability to create wind gusts that are powerful enough to move stones and other debris, and he can control these gusts with pinpoint accuracy. As far as offense is concerned, Inasa can produce whirlwinds that are strong enough to break solid ice or blow villains away. He can also use his quirk to fly.
12 Black Hole
Super Move:
Currently Unknown
My Hero Accademia makes it clear that Pro Heroes are meant to thwart villains, but the series also states that there are different categories of Heroes. Thirteen is one of several Pro Heroes who specialize in search and rescue emergencies, and her quirk is quite useful and powerful.
Thirteen’s Black Hole quirk allows her to recreate the suction effect of a black hole through her fingertips, and the force of the suction is so strong that it can even pull in light. She can use this quirk to clear debris and save trapped citizens, but she can also use it to capture villains.
11 Creation
Super Move:
Yaoyorozu’s Lucky Bag
Unlike most of the students in U.A. High School, Momo Yaoyorozu made it into the Pro Hero program through official recommendations. Momo possesses the Creation quirk, which allows her to create any non-living material or object from her exposed skin.
She can do this by transforming the molecular structure of her fat cells, but she can only create something if she understands its molecular structure, which goes to show that she is one of the most intelligent Heroes in the series. As a result, she can create any item or weapon that she might need in a fight or rescue operation.
10 Manifest
Super Move:
Chimera Kraken
Food-inspired abilities may not sound impressive, but they can be very effective when used the right way. Tamaki Amajiki is a Pro Hero student who goes by the name, Suneater, and he can manifest the physical characteristics of anything he eats thanks to his Manifest quirk.
If he eats Octopus, he can turn his fingers into tentacles which he can use to capture villains, and if he eats crab, he can generate claws that are strong enough to destroy metal weapons. What makes this quirk so useful is the fact that Tamaki can manifest and use multiple characteristics at once.
9 Heal
Super Move:
Currently Unknown
In terms of actual combat ability, Recovery Girl is one of the series’ weakest characters, but she still possesses one of the strongest quirks in MHA. It is called Heal, and it pairs well with her medical expertise. Like the name suggests, it allows her to heal others, and she does so by amplifying the human body’s natural healing process.
She can only activate this quirk by kissing the injured person, and the actual healing process is dependent on the patient’s overall life force. She may not be able to do anything about missing limbs, but she can heal broken limbs and bones in just a few seconds.
8 Explosion
Super Move:
AP Shot
My Hero Academia has a lot of side characters, especially on the Pro Hero side, but Bakugo really stands out because of his relationship with Izuku Midoriya. Bakugo is known for being crude and short-tempered; in fact, some could say that he has an explosive personality, which fits in perfectly with his quirk.
He possesses the Explosion quirk, and this allows him to create explosions by igniting the nitroglycerin-like sweat that secretes from his palms. This quirk can do a lot of damage, but Bakugo can also use it to evade attacks by propelling himself at high speeds, and he can also create a shockwave that functions like a shield.
7 Fierce Wings
Super Move:
Currently Unknown
Wing Hero: Hawks is currently My Hero Academia‘s No. 2 Pro Hero, and part of the reason why people like him is because he’s a smart Hero who promotes a carefree and good-natured attitude. His quirk also happens to be very versatile, as he can use it to fight villains and save civilians who are in danger.
Fierce Wings is a powerful quirk that gives Hawks a pair of large, bright red wings, and he can telekinetically control the movement and nature of each individual feather. He can harden these feathers in order to turn them into a sharp sword or sturdy shield, and he can use them to grab onto people and bring them to safety.
6 Permeation
Super Move:
Phantom Menace
When All Might was searching for a successor for One For All, the top candidate was Mirio Togata. Mirio possesses the Permeation quirk, which allows him to become intangible to the point that he can pass through solid matter. When he is completely intangible, light, air, and even sound can pass through his body as well.
Thanks to this quirk, Mirio can phase through walls and the ground, and it happens to be extremely useful in combat. Physical and elemental attacks can safely pass through Mirio’s body, and he can unleash an instantaneous combo that takes advantage of his quirk’s side effect, which causes him to repel forward when his body becomes solid again.
