Sasuke Uchiha is one of the greatest shinobi in all of Naruto, growing to become a tremendous aid to his rival and the current Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki. As the head of the Uchiha Clan and a renowned presence in Konoha, many know of Sasuke’s monumental power and the techniques in his vast arsenal. With the jutsu he acquired from his clan and the many improvised techniques learned from observing others with his Sharingan, Sasuke has a remarkably wide range of attacks available to him at his disposal.

It’s only a given that one of the few surviving members of the Uchiha clan would boast some of the strongest powers in existence, with Naruto being the only person in the series who can best him in a battle on equal ground. The sheer number of moves this beloved character can pull out in battle makes him a force to be reckoned with, and any ninja trying to take him down will be in for the battle of a lifetime… that they’ll probably not survive if Sasuke gets serious.

Updated August 7, 2023 by Ritwik Mitra: Sasuke is one of the strongest characters in anime history. This young boy wanted to seek out his revenge on an elder brother whom he believed to be the sole perpetrator behind the genocide of his clan for the longest time… only for the truth to come out after Itachi fell in his fight against his younger brother.

Following the reveal of this truth, Sasuke aimed to get stronger to take down the Kage himself, putting him on a collision course against Naruto as both ninja pulled out the strongest moves in their arsenal to take each other down.

23 Lion Combo

Sasuke using the Lion Combo in Naruto

Lion Combo is one of the first techniques Sasuke uses to expand his suite of attacks. It’s a technique he sees after reading Rock Lee’s movements with his Sharingan.

While Sasuke sparingly uses this technique after the Chunin Exams, it proves that this survivor of the Uchiha Massacre has a lot of tricks up his sleeve. His taijutsu is on par with the very best and keeps on developing over the course of the series.

22 Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu

Sasuke using Fire Style Fireball Jutsu in Naruto

This jutsu is something that Sasuke works on quite a bit as a kid to impress his father. It’s a powerful technique that unleashed a huge fireball from the lips of a user to damage their foes.

There’s a reason why Kakashi is genuinely impressed after seeing Sasuke pull this technique off during the mission to take the bells from him. It’s a high-level technique that not many genin have the capacity to master.

21 Shadow Clone Jutsu

Sasuke using the Shadow Clone Jutsu in Naruto

After the end of the main series, Sasuke reveals that he’s managed to learn one of Naruto’s techniques as well. Perhaps this is a consequence of the Uchiha acknowledging his rival and finally using his techniques without any spite.

However, unlike Naruto’s mastery of this technique, Sasuke can only spawn a handful of Shadow Clones. Any more would lead to him spreading out his chakra pool way too much to be of any use.

20 Summoning Technique: Snake

Naruto Sasuke Summoning Aoda Snake Jutsu

While Sasuke is capable of summoning many creatures and weapons, objectively his most ferocious summons are his two snakes. During his battle against Deidara, Sasuke summoned Manda, a snake known as one of the Ryūchi Cave bosses that had previously been summoned by Orochimaru. Sasuke controlled Manda using a genjutsu, and only after Manda was released did the beast succumb to its injuries.

His personal summon, Aoda, is a snake that first appeared during the Fourth Great Shinobi War and is pledged to Sasuke. Aoda differs greatly from Manda in that he’s more reserved and appears to hold Sasuke in high regard. Sasuke’s daughter, Sarada, would later go on to meet Aoda, who would display his loyalty to Sasuke’s family by protecting Sarada from the fearsome snake Garaga — who would become the summon of Naruto’s son and Sasuke’s apprentice, Boruto.

19 Fire Style: Great Dragon Fire Jutsu

Sasuke using Fire Style Great Dragon Fire Jutsu in Naruto

Fire Style jutsu can be quite powerful in the right hands. The Uchiha specialized in this technique, and it’s easy to see why Sasuke is such a master of this style and can wield it effectively in combat. This jutsu manipulates fire to take on the guise of a dragon that can absolutely incinerate foes. Only the most skillful opponents will be able to escape the wrath of this technique.

18 Cursed Seal Of Heaven

Sasuke's Cursed Seal of Heaven in Naruto

When Sasuke gets the Cursed Seal from Orochimaru, he starts using it in a bid to gain a boost of power against Naruto during their fight. While the released state is certainly quite powerful in its own right, the second stage is when things get truly interesting. In a bid to stop Naruto in his tracks once and for all, Sasuke unleashes the transformation of this Cursed Seal to transform into a heinous creature.

This change allows him to fight on equal ground against a version of Naruto that is covered in the Kyuubi’s chakra cloak, eventually getting the better of him with a Rasengan-Chidori clash for the ages that finally allows him to escape the Hidden Leaf to go train under Orochimaru.

17 Chidori

Naruto Sasuke Uchiha Chidori Lightning Release Jutsu Boruto

At its base, Chidori is an exceptionally reliable Lightning Release jutsu that Sasuke has taken as his own after learning to use it from his team 7 sensei, Kakashi Hatake. The basic form of this jutsu sees the user generate lightning in their hand as they thrust their arm forward, generating lethal damage and, if strong enough, piercing through their target.

Sasuke has developed many Chidori variants with varying properties. This includes imbuing his chokutō with his Chidori to create a lightning katana, generating many small bolts, forming a large horizontal beam that easily pierces targets (which he used on his future wife, Sakura Haruno), many dark Chidori, and even one so powerful it resulted in the loss of Sasuke’s left arm.

16 Chidori Stream

Sasuke using Chidori Stream in Naruto

The Chidori is one of Sasuke’s trademark techniques that he works on quite a bit after leaving to train with Orochimaru. This lets him develop several high-level techniques that can decimate opponents.

The Chidori Stream is a technique that turns this offensive technique into a defensive one as well. Not only is Sasuke protected from most attacks, but he can also weave this stream to hit multiple enemies in one go.

15 Sharingan

Naruto - Sasuke Uchiha's Sharingan

The Kekkei Genkai of the Uchiha clan is a Dojutsu that is incredibly powerful, allowing its user to read their enemy’s movements and anticipate their moves, making them extremely hard to deal with. Suffice it to say, Sasuke has no problem mastering this power after attaining it, being able to use his dojutsu to unleash a volley of pain on his enemies in no time at all.

In fact, his Sharingan becomes even more powerful after defeating Itachi and realizing just how much his brother loved him. This realization causes the Mangekyo Sharingan to manifest, letting him access a whole suite of powers that lets him power through his enemies in no time flat.

14 Demonic Illusion: Shackle Stakes Technique

Naruto Sasuke Demonic Illusion Jutsu Genjutsu Itachi Illusion Sharingan Akatsuki

Using his Sharingan to entrap his victims in a genjutsu, this technique sees Sasuke imprisoning his target in an illusion where they continually experience sharp spikes being stabbed through their bodies. Akin to all genjutsu, the spikes themselves are not real, instead playing on sensory illusions to inflict mental strain on the victim.

The main purpose of this technique is torture, and it has only been executed by the two Uchiha brothers. Given that the jutsu draws power from the Sharingan, it holds tremendous power over other genjutsu and is much harder to break out of. Only people who are extremely adept in dealing with genjutsu can even think about breaking this all-powerful genjutsu.

13 Rinnegan Genjutsu

Sasuke uses genjutsu on Sakura

Being an Uchiha, Sasuke has a natural affinity towards genjutsu, which he has shown by using genjutsu on several opponents throughout the series. His aptness for this particular type of jutsu further increased when he awakened the Rinnegan.

After gaining the Rinnegan, Sasuke was able to cast genjutsu on a very high level and was able to put all of the tailed beasts under his genjutsu. Furthermore, Sasuke was also able to cast Sakura on genjutsu with this power.

12 Sasuke’s Space-Time Dojutsu

Sasuke using his Space Time Dojutsu

The Rinnegan turned out to be a massive boost for Sasuke as he went on to gain access to several more powers. For example, in Naruto, Sasuke was able to use Amenotejikara, which allowed him to switch places with an object in an instant.

In Boruto, though, he debuted a new unnamed power unlike any he had shown before. Dubbed the Space-Time Dojutsu, this skill enables Sasuke to open a portal anywhere. Opening a portal requires a great amount of chakra, so there’s a limit to how many times he can open a portal. With this ability, Sasuke was able to travel freely through several dimensions.

11 Deva Path

Sasuke uses Deva path's power

The Deva Path is one of the strongest abilities of the Rinnegan, and as a Rinnegan user, Sasuke has access to all the various powers of the Rinnegan including the Deva Path. With the power of the Deva Path, Sasuke can utilize the forces of attraction and repulsion to his advantage in battle.

The techniques cannot be used simultaneously, so Sasuke needs to take a break before using it again — which prevents the ability from becoming too overpowered. Sasuke used this ability in his fight against Naruto, where he razed the surroundings to the ground.

10 Scorch Release: Halo Hurricane Jet Black Arrow Style Zero

Sasuke and Naruto attacking together

This technique is the result of the combined attacks of Naruto and Sasuke, friends and rivals working together. Sasuke uses his Blaze Release and then combines it with Naruto’s Wind Release: Rasenshuriken, with the result being a Scorch Release attack.

This wind from the Rasenshuriken boosts the flames, which results in a fearsome attack that engulfs the target with black flames. It’s both powerful and incredible to look at, with the sheer damage inflicted by this move being pretty massive in its own right.

9 Blaze Release: Chidori

Sasuke using Blaze Release Chidori

Chidori is an incredibly strong attack on its own. Sasuke learned the technique in Part I and at the time, he was able to use it twice a day. Since then, Sasuke has improved by leaps and bounds, with the Chidori becoming his signature technique throughout the series.

Currently, he has a lot more chakra, which allows him to execute moves that are much stronger than their normal counterparts. One such move is Blaze Release: Chidori. In this technique, Sasuke enhances the regular Chidori by adding Blaze Release to it, enhancing its power even more.

8 Kirin

kirin sasuke uchiha lightning release

Developed by Sasuke himself, Kirin is a Lightning Release technique that draws on the power of natural lightning to bolster the amount of damage given. Controlling the lightning with his chakra, Sasuke was able to generate an attack so powerful it managed to destroy a mountain.

A rarity of this technique is that it doesn’t solely rely on chakra, instead taking power from natural resources (the weather). As such, a major downside of this technique is that its power levels are reliant on the environment, with the alternative being artificial storm clouds generated by other jutsu that may require chakra usage. Nevertheless, this technique has immense potential for very little chakra, making it an ace for Sasuke despite its one-time use in battle.

7 Susanoo

Naruto Sasuke Uchiha Susanoo Sharingan Jutsu Uchiha

The Susanoo is an immensely powerful ability exclusive to users with a Mangekyō Sharingan in both eyes, said to be one of the most powerful abilities overall. As an extension of the user, the Susanoo is created from the user’s chakra and forms around them as a giant, humanoid being. There are numerous techniques Sasuke has emulated through his Susanoo that are simply stronger versions of his other jutsu, including his Chidori and his Fireball Jutsu.

Because of the amount of chakra needed to release a Susanoo, the ability causes immense strain on the user, particularly their eyes. The trade-off is substantial, of course, since the Susanoo delivers remarkable damage while simultaneously acting as a protective layer for the user.

6 Sharingan

Sasuke's Rinnegan In Naruto

When Sasuke is stabbed by Madara, most people assumed that he would breathe his last in this moment. However, this wasn’t the case, with the Sage of the Six Paths coming at an opportune moment to revive both him and Naruto, letting them know the truth about their destiny while giving them the powers they need to win the Shinobi War once and for all.

In Sasuke’s case, the Sage gives him the ultimate dojutsu combination, allowing him to use the Rinnegan and augment his abilities by combining it with the powers of the Sharingan. These eye techniques are extremely strong and can make its user the ultimate shinobi, which is why it’s easy to see why Sasuke became such a massive threat with both these dojutsu.

5 Blaze Release: Kagutsuchi

Naruto Sasuke Uchiha Kagutsuchi Jutsu Sharingan

Blaze Release: Kagutsuchi draws on Sasuke’s Amaterasu by manipulating the generated black flames into different forms using shape transformation. With this technique, Sasuke can gain both improved offensive and defensive properties: the black flames can form a barrier around him with the ability to protect and injure opponents with their spikes, and they can combine with his Chidori to strengthen it.

When using his Susanoo, Sasuke can increase his defenses by encasing it in the flames or by using the flames to grant his Susanoo flame-manipulated weapons. Additionally, in accordance with Sasuke being adept in kenjutsu, Sasuke can use this technique to wrap around the blade of his chokutō, increasing its potential.

4 Amenotejikara

Naruto Boruto Sasuke Amenotejikara Momoshiki Fight Rinnegan Jutsu

Able to manipulate space and time itself, Sasuke uses the Rinnegan in his left eye to move between spaces as a result of the Sage of the Six Path’s blessing. The technique has many uses as Sasuke can either use it to escape enemy attacks by temporarily jumping into a different space or ensnaring enemies in traps by switching places with them.

In the fight against Momoshiki, Sasuke allowed himself to be trapped by Momoshiki’s chains, following up by swapping places with him to allow Naruto an easier hit. Sasuke himself does not need to look at the object he intends to swap with to successfully switch places, and in adulthood does not need to wait for his Rinnegan to recharge to move.
