Roronoa Zoro is among the most popular One Piece characters. From the very beginning, it was clear that Zoro was destined for greatness, and he has proved that he is the most talented swordsman in the series. Zoro aims to become the Strongest Swordsman in the World, which is a highly coveted title.
So far, Zoro has fought and conquered some of the biggest names in One Piece. His victory against King provided him with a massive confidence boost, which will come in handy in his fights after Wano as things indubitably get harder. So Zoro needs to be at his best if he wants to achieve his goal.
6 Kaku
Kaku and Zoro have a lot of history. The two met in Water 7, then fought in Enies Lobby. The Straw Hat swordsman prevailed after a grueling fight. As a result of his loss, Kaku was kicked out of CP9, but it didn’t take long for him to get promoted to CP0 along with Rob Lucci. Kaku is a masked assassin, which means he is one of the strongest CP0 members.
Zoro faced Kaku again on Egghead Island, but they couldn’t finish their duel due to Stussy’s interference. Considering they have already fought twice, it is highly likely that they will do so again for the third and final time. It will be interesting to see the circumstances under which the fight happens.
5 Shiryu
Shiryu is one of the Ten Titanic Captains of the Blackbeard Pirates. He joined the crew during the riot in Impel Down caused by Blackbeard and Luffy. Shiryu is a maniac who loves torturing and murdering people. For this reason, he was also locked inside Impel Down by Magellan, only being released when Blackbeard infiltrated the place.
Shiryu is an expert swordsman, and his strength has been compared to Magellan’s. Some time after the time skip, Shiryu ate the Suke Suke no Mi, which gave him the power to turn invisible and land critical strikes on unsuspecting opponents. It is inevitable that the Straw Hat Pirates will fight the Blackbeard Pirates at some point, and Shiryu is most likely to fight Zoro.
4 Fujitora
Fujitora is a Navy Admiral who joined the organization during the time skip. He may be a blind man, but he is far from weak. As an Admiral, Fujitora is an expert at using both Kenbunshoku and Busoshoku Haki. On top of that, Fujitora has access to the Zushi Zushi no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows him to control gravity.
He can use it to bring down meteors from the sky and cause widespread destruction. Fujitora can also increase the gravitational force over a certain area, leading to the creation of a massive hole in the ground. Fujitora and Zoro crossed blades in Dressrosa, but it was evident that the Straw Hat pirate was not ready to take on an opponent of such caliber. Fujitora and Zoro can be seen fighting in One Piece Opening 17, which adds more fuel to this speculation.
3 Benn Beckman
Benn Beckman is Shanks’ right-hand man. He is a man of few words, unlike his loquacious captain. Benn Beckman is considered by many to be on the same level as Shanks, which is rather untrue. However, he is still an incredible fighter, and he was able to momentarily stop Kizaru from moving.
Ben Beckman has a gun, yet he does not use it often in battle. He has a drastically different fighting style than Zoro, but fans have already seen the latter slicing bullets and whatnot. In the event that the Straw Hat Pirates fight the Red Hair Pirates, it is only fair that the second-strongest members fight each other.
2 Dracule Mihawk
Dracule Mihawk holds the title of the Strongest Swordsman in the World. Prior to joining the Shichibukai, Mihawk used to actively hunt Marines. This made him feared throughout the world, and the Navy had to take drastic steps to stop him. So they ended up giving him a place among the Shichibukai.
From the very beginning, Zoro has made it clear that his aim is to supplant Mihawk and take the title from him. Zoro fought Mihawk in the Baratie arc and was humiliated by the latter. Kuma sent Zoro to Mihawk’s residence, where he begged his rival to train him. Mihawk was surprised by Zoro’s request, but he accepted. Zoro learned a lot about swordsmanship and Haki under Mihawk. After two years of training, Zoro went back to his crew. While Zoro and Mihawk have not met since, there is no doubt that their clash will take place in the final arc, and at that time the student will surpass the master.
1 St. Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro
St. Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro is one of the Gorosei. He is the Warrior God of Finance, implying that he takes care of everything that is related to money within the World Government. Like the other Gorosei, Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro is extremely loyal to Imu and will do everything in his power to protect the true sovereign from any harm.
Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro possesses a sword, and many fans believe that it is the Shodai Kitetsu, making it a Saijo O Wazamono grade weapon, implying that he is a great warrior. In the event that the Gorosei do get involved in the fighting, Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro may end up becoming Zoro’s opponent.
