The Yonko are four of the most powerful pirates in all of One Piece. They are blessed with ridiculously strong Devil Fruits, and monstrous Haki. Due to their sheer might, the World Government tries not to interfere with their business.

For a Yonko, it is not difficult to take over a country and claim it as their own territory. Sometimes people of a weak country willingly associate themselves with a Yonko to ward off any potential threats. After doing so, they fall under the control of the Yonko, who often use it as their base of operations. With that in mind, here are all the known One Piece islands that are under the protection of the Yonko.
6 Fish-Man Island
Fish-Man Island is one of the few territories that many Yonko have taken under their protection. Since it falls on the way to the New World, most pirates make a stop on the island before moving forward. Pirates, being pirates, didn’t always respect the hospitality; in fact, many of them needlessly attacked the natives of the island.
The denizens were troubled by the continuous raids by pirates. At one point, Whitebeard placed the territory under his flag. Due to his reputation, pirates stopped causing any trouble. After his death, Big Mom struck a deal with Jimbei and became its guardian. Finally, when Luffy came to the island, he proclaimed Fish-Man Island his territory.
5 Totto Land
Totto Land is a cluster of several islands located in the New World. It also serves as the main setting for the Whole Cake Island arc. It was the territory of Big Mom, and she ruled as its queen. She established the place in order to unify all the races of the world. Despite Big Mom’s mood swings, Totto Land was a relatively peaceful place.
The people living on Totto Land had to pay a small portion of their soul as a form of tax. Big Mom appointed her kids as ministers of the smaller islands, which ensured that no rebellion would break out. After Big Mom’s defeat, the duties may have been passed on to Charlotte Katakuri, the strongest Sweet Commander.
4 Wano
Wano is a place with a rich history. The craftsmen of this proud nation created the indestructible Poneglyphs. Aside from that, Wano is also home to master swordsmiths, who have made Ame no Habakiri, Enma, Shusui, etc. Years prior to the beginning of the story, Wano closed its borders to the rest of the world for unknown reasons. The country remained away from the eyes of the world, but that changed when Kaido took over forcibly and made it his territory.
Kaido terrorized the people of Wano and turned most of the country into a wasteland. Oden tried to take back his country but was killed by deceit. 26 years after his death, the Straw Hats made their way to Wano and, with the help of others, liberated the country. Kozuki Momonosuke currently rules Wano. The country is also affiliated with the Straw Hat Pirates.
3 Elbaf
Elbaf is the home of giants, and for this reason, it is considered the most powerful country in the world. The giants of Elbaf are strong warriors who can vanquish hordes of pirates effortlessly. However, they aren’t entirely infallible, as proven by Linlin’s rampage, in which she single-handedly caused widespread destruction.
The Straw Hats have yet to step foot on Elbaf, which is why there is not much information available about the island. In the Egghead arc, it was revealed that Shanks was in Elbaf with his entire crew. The people enjoyed Shanks’ company and treated him like a hero. Shortly afterward, Shanks saved the country from the Kid Pirates. This strongly implies that Elbaf is Shanks’ territory. It is unknown why Shanks took an interest in the country, but it will be revealed in the upcoming arcs.
2 Hachinosu
Hachinosu, also known as Fullalead, is the territory of Blackbeard. The island was previously controlled by Wang Zhi, a former member of the Rocks Pirates. Hachinosu served as the birthplace of the Rocks Pirates, which would explain why Wang Zhi wanted to control it.
Blackbeard ousted Wang Zhi and gained charge of the island, but he did require help from Koby. It was dubbed the Rocky Port incident, and it earned Money the title of “Hero.” Blackbeard plans to turn Hachinosu into a World Government-allied nation. Considering his cunning nature, it is safe to assume that he has an ulterior motive.
1 Sphinx
Sphinx is a poverty-stricken island that is the hometown of Edward Newgate. The World Government abandoned the island because the people could not pay the Heavenly Tribute. Over time, the place became lawless, and the people turned on each other. The people who stayed on the island made a hidden village to avoid any threats.
After Whitebeard became a big-name pirate, he kept sending resources to the people. While the island was never officially under Whitebeard, there is no denying that it enjoyed the same privileges that other Yonko-led territories do. After Whitebeard’s death, Marco took the responsibility on his shoulders and became the protector of Sphinx. He also uses his Devil Fruit powers to heal the people of the island.
