Baroque Works is a currently disbanded criminal organization that was founded by Crocodile in One Piece with the purpose of taking over Alabasta. Each of its members used an alias, which was a number corresponding with their strength and future position in a conquered Alabasta, as dictated by Crocodile, who went by Mr. 0. Outside of Crocodile and his liaison, Miss All Sunday, the strongest members of Baroque Works were its nine officer agents.

These agents were partnered by gender, with each male officer having a female counterpart that complemented his own abilities. Ranked from weakest to strongest, these are the nine former officer agents of Baroque Works.

1 Miss Goldenweek

A Perfunctory Painter

  • Debut: Chapter 117 (Manga); Episode 70 (Anime)
  • Devil Fruit: None

Marianne, better known by her alias, Miss Goldenweek, was the teenage comrade of Mr. 3. She is a realist painter who dreams of becoming a “true artist” one day. She is shown to be somewhat apathetic to her enemies and prefers to relax rather than participate in battle herself. That said, she is shown later down the line to also care immensely for her colleagues and their wellbeing. She is the sole officer agent not to make any sort of use of a Devil Fruit.

She has the unique ability to hypnotize people with her paint, a technique known as Colors Trap. How exactly the target reacts to her paint overrides any other impulses they may have. Each corresponding color causes the target to act a different way, such as green inducing calm and yellow causing laughter. A simple-minded person, like Monkey D. Luffy, is especially vulnerable to the Colors Trap. Usopp was ultimately able to break Luffy from its influence by targeting the painted area.

While Goldenweek’s technique was ultimately able to hinder Luffy for a time, she showed no other combat ability and seemed unable to properly confront people on her own once they were uninhibited. Fittingly, she has since retired from combat, alongside the majority of her fellow Officer Agents.

2 Miss Valentine

Crushing the Competition

Miss Valentine from One Piece

  • Debut: Chapter 110 (Manga); Episode 65 (Anime)
  • Devil Fruit: Kiro Kiro no Mi

Mikita, also known as Miss Valentine, is Mr. 5’s partner. She is an excitably sadistic individual, shown to giggle frequently when causing harm to others, although she is also quick to anger when things aren’t going her way. She is a slender young woman, who has been compared to Twiggy, an English Model, thought by some to have inspired her design. Ironically, Miss Valentine’s Devil Fruit revolves around the rapid gain and loss of weight, although this appears not to change her physical appearance. She is capable of manually shifting her weight from 1 to 10,000 kilograms.

At her lighter weight, she is capable of floating on a slight breeze and can monitor the air in this form. She can also use explosions, such as those made by Mr. 5, to quickly elevate herself as she loses weight. Upon gaining weight, she can physically restrain or crush her opponents. She uses this in techniques such as her Crescendo Stone, which she used to not only restrain Usopp but torture him through the continual application of weight. Switching between both weights, she can quickly drop and bury or even possibly behead her foes.

Although she is more capable of combat than Mr. Goldenweek, this is only shown through her Devil Fruit powers. She was quickly overpowered by Vivi and Nami jumping her, which seemingly knocked her out upon impact.

3 Mr. 5

An Explosive Combatant

  • Debut: Chapter 110 (Manga); Episode 65 (Anime)
  • Devil Fruit: Bomu Bomu no Mi

Gem, also known as Mr. 5, is the lowest-ranked officer agent in terms of numbers. He is partnered with Miss Valentine. He is shown to be a deeply condescending young man. His Devil Fruit both causes explosions and gives him a level of immunity to them, as displayed when he can physically eat explosives. His arrogance is likely tied to the efficiency of this Devil Fruit.

Claiming to have never failed to complete a mission, prior to his fight against Luffy and Zoro on Whiskey Peak, he uses his explosives to make short work of most enemies. Even Dorry and Broggy, who are physically far stronger than him, can still be knocked out by the impact of his explosions. As he is able to make any part of his body explode, this also applies to his snot, which he launches to create explosive projectiles, a technique that notably disgusted Zoro when he cut it.

While he is at least capable of defending himself in direct combat, Mr. 5 is still a fairly weak fighter without his Devil Fruit. He was notably beaten by an angered Luffy and Zoro with relative ease.

4 Mr. 4

Strong But Slow

Mr. 4, a blonde man with thick lips, an orange scarf, and a bazooka

  • Debut: Chapter 160 (Manga); Episode 103 (Anime)
  • Devil Fruit: None (Owns bazooka with Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Dachshund)

Babe, or Mr. 4, is a towering man, who is a respectable 7’2 in terms of height and is also quite strong. Personality-wise, he is a fairly unintelligent but agreeable individual, who is partnered with Miss Merry Christmas. Along with Goldenweek, Mr. 4 is one of the two Officer Agents not to use a Devil Fruit. That said, he is in possession of Lassoo, a bazooka who gained sentience after somehow “eating” a Zoan Devil Fruit that gave it dachshund-like qualities.

In battle, Mr. 4 wields a 4-ton bat, which he uses to hit the gigantic explosive baseballs (which weigh as much as cannonballs) that Lassoo shoots. He is capable of further adding to his unpredictability by taking advantage of tunnels dug by Miss Merry Christmas. He temporarily forgets his slow nature to quickly and accurately hit back Lassoo’s balls across a series of tunnels.

Mr. 4, despite his physical strength, is held back by his lack of intelligence. Mr. 3, a far more tactical fighter, is actually confirmed by Crocodile to be less strong than Mr. 4, meaning this factor essentially costs him a higher rank. Furthermore, he is hampered by how much he relies on both Miss Merry Christmas and Lassoo to operate at maximum efficiency.

5 Miss Merry Christmas

She Can Dig It

miss merry christmas one piece

  • Debut: Chapter 160 (Manga); Episode 103 (Anime)
  • Devil Fruit: Mogu Mogu no Mi

✕ Remove Ads

Drophy, or Miss Merry Christmas, is a middle-aged woman known for her fast-talking and commanding nature. She tends to order around Mr. 4 and is the brains behind their partnership. Her Devil Fruit allows her to turn into a mole, making it one of two Zoan Devil Fruits among those used by Baroque Works, with the other used by Mr. 4’s gun. Her moniker of “Town-Collapser” implies she has previously caused significant damage as a mole.

Her mole form has numerous practical applications. She can use it to create a network of underground tunnels, which she can also quickly travel through. She can use these to stealthily get the drop on her opponents without causing too much suspicion in the process. Her claws also double as a fairly solid physical attack against her opponents, as they are able to claw through solid stone.

Miss Merry Christmas is a fairly capable agent, who is capable of both combat and more practical uses of her Devil Fruit as well. However, she is one of the lower-ranked officer agents for a reason, with that reason merely being that better ones exist.

6 Mr. 3

A Sophisticated Sculptor

Mr 3 aka Galdino

  • Debut: Chapter 117 (Manga); Episode 70 (Anime)
  • Devil Fruit: Doru Doru no Mi

Galdino, formerly known as Mr. 3, is a refined man who once worked alongside Miss Goldenweek. He is tactically inclined, preferring not to confront foes head-on if he can avoid it. To this end, he applies a ruthless form of pragmatism, seeming to care little for others outside of how they can benefit him at the moment. That being said, even if for his own convenience, he is shown to at least value those he partners alongside for their skills, even if he deems some of them unworthy of his respect. His Devil Fruit allows him to create wax, which he can sculpt into a variety of different shapes for various purposes.

✕ Remove Ads

His wax is effectively a Swiss Army Knife, having possibly the most diverse applications of any officer agent’s Devil Fruit powers. Essentially, he can sculpt it into a variety of different objects, with it being hard and well crafted enough to accomplish any given job. Like Miss Goldenweek, his ability makes use of his artistic vision, and he accordingly refers to various creations, such as his wax locks as “works of art.” Other things he has made out of wax include a safe house, false duplicates of himself, a skeleton key, armor, a shield, and an incapacitating device known as the candle set, which coats victims in wax and eventually kills them (although the one time he actually attempted to do this onscreen failed.) When partnered with Miss Goldenweek, he was also able to call upon her realist painting skills to add color to any given sculpture of his.

Galdino had the advantage of his subsequent escape from Impel Down showcasing the sheer variety of his Devil Fruit without his partner present. It’s no coincidence that he’s one of the few Baroque Works agents still active today. He is once again an underling to Crocodile in his new organization, Cross Guild.

7 Mr. 2 Bon Clay

Inmate Running the Asylum

One Piece Bon Clay

  • Debut: Chapter 129 (Manga); Episode 78 (Anime)
  • Devil Fruit: Mane Mane no Mi

Bentham, better known by his alias Mr. 2 Bon Clay, is a crossdresser, who is also a skilled martial artist. Notably, he is the only numbered officer agent not to have a partner. This is due to him effectively representing both genders. He is probably one of the most loyal characters in the series, attempting to do right by both his former partners in Baroque Works, and his former enemies, the Straw Hat Pirates. He was notably responsible for saving Luffy on multiple occasions. His heroic nature even touched the infamously selfish Mr. 3, who was genuinely sad when he thought his former comrade had died.

✕ Remove Ads

Mr. 2 Bon Clay’s Devil Fruit allows him to physically transform into anyone whose face he has touched. He can use this to throw off people by transforming into their loved ones, whilst subsequently surprising them with a sneak attack. He can also attack people with his steel-tipped swans. Unfortunately, he is somewhat disadvantaged by the fact that nearly every person’s body lacks the proper elasticity to pull off his techniques, meaning he needs to revert to himself before properly attacking them. That said, he can still use this technique to impersonate and subsequently act against the wishes of people in positions of power, such as Nefertari Cobra, the former king of Alabasta, and Magellan, the former Warden of Impel Down.

While he is simply a skilled combatant who doubles as a master of disguise, Mr. 2 Bon Clay is ultimately recognized by Crocodile as one of his biggest assets. Since opening the gates of Impel Down, so his comrades could escape, and subsequently surviving a fight with Magellan, Bentham has become the new queen of Newkama Land (Level 5.5), taking the spot vacated by Ivankov upon his departure.

8 Miss Doublefinger

Sharp To The Touch

Nami fighting Miss Doublefinger in the Arabasta Arc

  • Debut: Chapter 155 (Manga); Episode 103 (Anime)
  • Devil Fruit: Toge Toge no Mi

Zala, once known as Miss Doublefinger, is the highest-ranked female officer agent of Baroque Works. She also acted as the owner of Spiders Cafe, where she used the alias of Paula. She is partnered with Mr. 1, who shares her calm, relaxed temperament. Her Devil Fruit allows her to grow spikes from any part of her body.

Her body’s spikes will stab opponents upon impact and give her a potentially diverse array of options when dealing with them. While she can attack them outright, she can also simply let them take the fight to her, upon which they will also be stabbed. She can also use her spikes to dope herself, which physically increases her muscle mass and makes her an even more dangerous foe to deal with than before. She seems impossible to defeat at close range, as her spikes can effectively cover any part of her body.

✕ Remove Ads

Miss Doublefinger is one of the best officer agents due to how difficult she seems to actually attack head-on. However, she has since retired upon discovering her true dream; to remain the owner of Spiders Cafe. Opening up a new location, Zala and the other officer agents (save for Mr. 1, Mr. 2 Bon Clay, and Mr. 3) are all currently working there, continuing to realize their dreams in their own unique ways.

9 Mr. 1

A Blade Man, Not A Swordsman

One Piece Daz BoneZ Spiral Hollow

  • Debut: Chapter 160 (Manga); Episode 103 (Anime)
  • Devil Fruit: Supa Supa no Mi

Daz Bonez, once known as Mr. 1, is the highest-ranked male officer agent of Baroque Works. He is a stern yet mostly calm fighter, much like his former partner, Miss Doublefinger. He is Crocodile’s most loyal subordinate, being the only one to consistently remain with him after his initial defeat. He has since acted as something of a right-hand man to the secretive pirate. His Devil Fruit allows him to transform his body into steel blades.

✕ Remove Ads

Beyond his Devil Fruit, Mr. 1 shows skill as a martial artist, which allows him to be especially precise with his blades. He can also rotate said blades around his body, allowing him to shred upon impact. He was roughly on par with Zoro when the pair fought in Alabasta, although the latter managed to ultimately squeeze out a win. Mr. 1 notably does not consider himself a swordsman, which makes sense when one considers his own blades to be merely an application of his Devil Fruit.

As a direct follower of Crocodile, he participated in the Summit War and accompanied him on his journey across the New World. He subsequently joined Cross Guild, an Emperor-level mercenary organization that Crocodile founded to put bounties on marines.
