Talking about and comparing the Devil Fruits is just an old pastime for One Piece anime and manga fans alike. Discussions based around comparing the strength of different Devil Fruits or friends arguing about which Devil Fruit they’d pick if they had the choice. Devil Fruits are just so unique and versatile as a popular Shonen concept that there’s no concrete answer.
Canonically, the more creative a DF user is with their power, the stronger they tend to be. This means that the skill ceiling for each fruit is almost entirely based on the individual, but the skill floor is much more rigid. Logia’s have the highest floor, but Paramecia’s have the highest ceiling, and so forth. But which Devil Fruits are the most overpowered in One Piece by default, and why? Let’s take a look.
Updated on October 5th, 2023 Jake Buchalter: After the massive success of the One Piece live-action Netflix series, so many new people are getting into the modern Odyssey story that is One Piece. And, across all 1000+ chapters of this incredible tale, there have been quite a few absurdly powerful Devil Fruits shown. From people able to turn into literal lightning to characters that can modify the ages of those around them, the sheer number of wacky powers One Piece author Eiichiro Oda has introduced is unbelievable. So, let’s take another look through the strongest powers seen so far across the series and talk a bit more about them.
24 The Clank-Clank Fruit: Douglas Bullet
Devil Fruit Name | Devil Fruit Type | Devil Fruit User(s) | Awakening Status |
---|---|---|---|
Gasha Gasha No Mi | Paramecia | Douglas Bullet | Awakened |
First up is a Devil Fruit that’s so absurdly strong they had to keep it in the movies only, the Clank-Clank Fruit. At first, it might seem like this Devil Fruit is basically the One Piece version of Magneto’s Mutant abilities. However, Douglas Bullet’s powers aren’t restricted to metal, just inorganic objects, and his knowledge of mechanics allows him to create complex machinations such as gigantic mechs capable of destroying entire islands. With this Devil Fruit, Douglas Bullet:
- Made the Pirate King himself, Gol D. Roger, acknowledge his strength and abilities.
-
Beat down
the entirety of the Worst Generation
in a few short moments. - Basically absorbed the entirety of inorganic matter on an entire island and made himself into an incomprehensibly gigantic controllable golem.
- Was able to awaken his Devil Fruit to expand the range of his abilities to an absurd degree.
Overall, without enough materials near him, Bullet is still scary as a fighter, but his Devil Fruit is massively nerfed. But, there aren’t many situations where this would actually happen, and as such Bullet’s Devil Fruit is just obscenely strong even in the hands of someone who isn’t using it well.
23 The Brain-Brain Fruit: Dr. Vegapunk
Devil Fruit Name | Devil Fruit Type | Devil Fruit User(s) | Awakening Status |
---|---|---|---|
Nomi Nomi No Mi | Paramecia | Dr. Vegapunk | Unawakened |
Moving on to one of the Devil Fruits that was only revealed in the last year or so (at the time of writing this), the Brain-Brain Fruit wielded by the famous Dr. Vegapunk. For decades, fans of One Piece had speculated that Vegapunk had some sort of Devil Fruit associated with intelligence, and now it’s been confirmed. And, while the actual abilities and side effects of the DF are a bit more comical than anyone was probably expecting (AKA his gigantic head and always outstretched tongue), this is still a terrifying power. With this Devil Fruit, the user can:
- Store an indefinite amount of information in their head.
- Recall this stored information at any time and with ease.
- Grow the size of their head to an equally indefinite amount as their brain (though this is more of a downside than anything else)
- Use this stored information to advance technology and society by leaps and bounds.
While this Devil Fruit is one of the only ones to be shown with no direct offensive abilities, the doors that this power opens are infinite. With this power, Vegapunk has invented hundreds if not thousands of highly advanced creations, has advanced the study of Devil Fruit abilities to a level that was thought to be impossible, and has even separated his brain from his body and created 6 ‘clones’ of himself that all sync wirelessly with his ever-expanding brain matter.
22 The String-String Fruit: Donquixote Doflamingo
Devil Fruit Name | Devil Fruit Type | Devil Fruit User(s) | Awakening Status |
---|---|---|---|
Ito Ito No Mi | Paramecia | Donquixote Doflamingo | Awakened |
Donquixote Doflamingo’s String-String Devil Fruit is probably one of the best examples in One Piece of a Devil Fruit user propelling their abilities to overpowered levels through sheer creativity alone. From the name of this Devil Fruit, most people wouldn’t think something that gives someone control over string would be all that strong. However, with it, Doflamingo:
- Swung across the ocean by using strings to swing from cloud to cloud.
- Controlled the actions of an entire island using his strings to control people like puppets.
- Create clones of himself made entirely from string.
- Cut through all sorts of different things using both super thin (and super strong) string as well as superheated string.
- Created a gigantic prison in the form of a string birdcage.
- Kept himself going after sustaining massive injuries by using string to sew said injuries closed.
While Luffy is a fantastic example of someone who made the most of (used to be) an underpowered Devil Fruit, Doflamingo is probably an even better example of this same concept.
21 Imu’s ‘Unnamed’ Devil Fruit
Devil Fruit Name | Devil Fruit Type | Devil Fruit User(s) | Awakening Status |
---|---|---|---|
Unknown | Unknown | Imu | Unknown |
And for another very recent inclusion, it felt apt to include someone’s abilities that are most likely the result of a Devil Fruit, though this hasn’t been confirmed quite yet. Imu was only revealed as one of the ‘big bads’ of One Piece in the last couple of years, and no one saw their powers at all until quite recently during a meeting between Nefertari Cobra, Sabo, the Five Elders, and Imu.
While there isn’t nearly enough information for anyone to make an informed decision on what Imu’s Devil Fruit ability likely is, it’s something that One Piece fans have been having so much fun coming up with theories on. There are all kinds of theories out there already such as Imu having the Water-Water fruit, Sea-Sea Fruit, World-World Fruit, Shadow-Shadow Fruit, or Nightmare-Nightmare Fruit, and all of these theories have at least a little bit of ground to stand on. However, regardless of what the actual power is, One Piece fans can say with certainty that Imu’s abilities are incredibly powerful since it’s likely their abilities that destroyed all of Lulusia in that iconic yet horrifying catastrophic strike.
20 The Fish-Fish Fruit Model – Phoenix: Kaidou
Devil Fruit Name | Devil Fruit Type | Devil Fruit User(s) | Awakening Status |
---|---|---|---|
Uo Uo No Mi, Model: Seiryu | Mythical Zoan | Kaidou & Momonosuke Kozuki | Unawakened |
Ah, the iconic Dragonic Devil Fruit that proved to the world that Zoans aren’t anything to scoff at. The Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu or Fish-Fish Fruit, Model: Azure Dragon is Kaidou’s Devil Fruit, given to him long ago by Big Mom. There’s a classic Chinese myth about the ‘Dragon Gate’ at the top of a river that many Carp swam up, and if one made it to the top they would turn into a dragon. This is where the whole Magikarp and Gyrados Pokemon connection comes from, and why Kaidou can turn into a big-horned dragon even though his fruit is based on the model of a fish.
It’s pretty obvious that this is one of the strongest Devil Fruits seen so far in One Piece, as well as the largest Zoan-type transformation. With this Mythical DF, Kaidou can:
- Transform into an Eastern-inspired Dragon the size of a small town, a Half-Hybrid form that most Zoan users have, and another Hybrid form that seems to rely more on the DF than Kaidou’s human side.
- Create Flame Clouds that allow Kaidou to essentially fly as well as cause other things he puts on top of them to float as well.
- Breathe fire, condense it into a beam of fire called Blast Breath, launch fireballs, and even summon lightning from the sky.
- Cover himself in his draconic flames (that he’s immune to) so that no one can touch him.
- Send gusts of wind so compressed and so fast that they’re capable of slicing through most anything.
- Summon tornadoes of sharp wind using his long body to create them.
- Crush an entire city with his gigantic full Zoan form.
-
Withstand almost any attack
as long as it doesn’t use Conqueror’s Haki
.
So with all that, of course, this is one of the most powerful Devil Fruits out there. Just by himself, Kaidou can replicate, to a certain degree, the powers of other Devil Fruits such as Ace’s flames, Enel’s lightning, and even the way that Doflamingo achieved ‘flight’ by using clouds.
19 The Sing-Sing Fruit: Uta
Disclaimer: This entry has slight spoilers for One Piece: Film Red
Devil Fruit Name | Devil Fruit Type | Devil Fruit User(s) | Awakening Status |
---|---|---|---|
Uta Uta No Mi | Paramecia | Uta & Previous User Who Sealed Tot Musica | Unawakened |
And then there’s Uta, the main ‘new’ character introduced in One Piece: Film Red and her Devil Fruit abilities are absurd, especially among the Paramecia DFs. The Uta-Uta No Mi or Sing-Sing DF is a Paramecia Devil Fruit that, through the power of song, transports the consciousnesses of anyone who hears it into a dream world where the DF user has complete control.
In this dream world, the DF is basically a god and can do whatever they want. Aspects of the DF that are especially absurd are:
- It stops people from leaving once they’re in the dream world, the only way they can escape (outside of an absurdly complicated method the movie relies on) is either for the user to fall asleep or voluntarily release everyone.
- In the dream world, the user can manipulate reality at will and is completely unable to be killed.
- Regardless of how powerful her opponents are, once they’re in the dream there’s no getting out unless Uta wants them out.
- Because it works on hearing, the only way to avoid getting caught up by the Uta-Uta No Mi is to avoid hearing it, similar to Sugar’s Doll DF working with touch, or Hancock’s Love Fruit working off of sight. There are only a few known DF users that can directly counter this Fruit, with the primary example being the Calm-Calm Fruit that Rosiante Donquixote once held.
It’s honestly the type of DF that would break the already fragile power scaling if it was ever introduced into the mainline story.
18 The Scroll-Scroll Fruit: Raizo
Devil Fruit Name | Devil Fruit Type | Devil Fruit User(s) | Awakening Status |
---|---|---|---|
Maki Maki No Mi | Paramecia | Raizo | Unawakened |
This is another Devil Fruit that needs a bit more information on how it works, but even with the information currently known, the Scroll-Scroll Devil Fruit that Raizo uses in Wano has absurd amounts of potential. With this DF, the user can summon “scrolls” of any size and length and telekinetically manipulate them in the air to ‘catch’ or ‘absorb’ things into them, similar to the Scrolls used in the Naruto series that could hold objects, Ninjutsu, or even summoning techniques. It’s not fully clear what the requirements or constrictions on what Raizo can store with these scrolls are, but so far he has used them to hold:
- A gigantic amount of water that Zunesha once expelled.
- Fire itself.
- Kaidou’s own Blast Breath attack.
- Drawn copies of Raizo (likely drawn by Kanjuro).
Basically, as long as what he’s absorbing is non-organic, it’ll work. Of course, this means he’s strong against projectiles and elemental attacks but weak against physical punches and kicks. Now, Raizo uses this DF pretty well, but let’s just mention a few other things he could do with it to become truly terrifying:
- He could chase a storm and then capture it in a Scroll to release on his enemies.
- He could go to a volcano and capture the magma.
- He could brew some acid and capture it in a scroll.
- And lastly, because the Scrolls seem to capture the momentum of whatever is caught in that last instant, Raizo could even have someone shoot a cannon at him, capture the cannonball, and fire it later at whoever he wants.
17 The Strong-Strong Fruit: Jesus Burgess
Devil Fruit Name | Devil Fruit Type | Devil Fruit User(s) | Awakening Status |
---|---|---|---|
Riki Riki No Mi | Paramecia | Jesus Burgess | Unawakened |
Up next is a Devil Fruit that was introduced recently, even further than the 1000 chapter mark in chapter 1063 specifically. It’s been long known by the fans that Blackbeard is a Devil Fruit fanatic. Now, he’s seemingly using that knowledge of all Devil Fruits to get the DFs that are the perfect fit for all of his crew. As a result of this, after hunting down the perfect Devil Fruits, Jesus Burgess is now in control of the Strong-Strong Fruit.
Sadly, fans have only barely begun to see him using this Fruit. But when he did, Burgess literally lifted an entire mountain with ease. The only downside is that this Fruit is ‘too much of a perfect match’ for Burgess that it doesn’t really require him to innovate or adapt and grow stronger that way as Luffy did. But, Oda might surprise the fans and utilize the concept of ‘strong’ in some creative ways like how he does with other seemingly simple DFs like the Glare-Flare Fruit, and here are just a few ways he could do so:
- Other than just literally ‘strengthening’ his physical power, the Strong-Strong Fruit could also mean that his immune system is now ‘stronger’, allowing him to fight off any disease or affliction.
- Additionally, this could also mean his organs are stronger, allowing him to have Superman-levels of Super Breath. Other examples could be that he now has stronger versions of all five senses as well.
- And, there are even some conceptual ways his DF could materialize such as giving off such a ‘strong’ presence that people are naturally afraid of him (which isn’t much different than usual) or a ‘strong’ state of mind so he would be highly resistant against any sort of mental attack.
It’s entirely up to Eiichiro Oda as to how this DF develops but fans are pretty certain this is one of the strongest Devil Fruits out there.
16 The Warp-Warp Fruit: Van Augur
Devil Fruit Name | Devil Fruit Type | Devil Fruit User(s) | Awakening Status |
---|---|---|---|
Wapu Wapu No Mi | Paramecia | Van Augur | Unawakened |
Another DF that was revealed in the action-packed 1063rd chapter of One Piece is the Warp-Warp Devil Fruit that is now in the hands of Van Augur. Now, Van Augur was already the sniper of the Blackbeard crew and could hit a seagull from miles away with ease.
Quite frankly, while the Warp-Warp fruit does seem perfect for a sniper, it sort of takes away from his marksmanship more than it adds to it. The assumption currently is that Augur will be able to ‘warp’ his bullets to where he needs them to hit, which means he doesn’t even have to be a good sniper anymore. Still, the fact that he is one likely means that he’ll utilize his skills and superhuman eyesight in some truly terrifying ways. Nothing is confirmed about the Fruit yet, but here are some of the scariest ways it could be potentially used.
- If Augur doesn’t need to touch who or what he’s warping, then he could send the Blackbeard crew anywhere in the world in an instant or warp whatever DF target Blackbeard is hunting right onto their ship.
- In a fight, Augur can just warp his bullets into his target, or even potentially warp the target so that they’re directly in his line of fire.
- There’s no confirmed weight limit for his warp abilities yet, so he may even be able to warp entire islands if needed.
- Again, in a fight, he could even warp the allies of whoever he’s fighting in front of them so that they hurt their friends every time they try and attack Augur.
Frankly, this Fruit just screams overpowered, and it’s likely that Oda will introduce some pre-planned restrictions to it whenever Van Augur pops back up in the story.
15 The Sick-Sick Fruit: Doc Q
Devil Fruit Name | Devil Fruit Type | Devil Fruit User(s) | Awakening Status |
---|---|---|---|
Shiku Shiku No Mi | Paramecia | Doc Q | Unawakened |
And last up for the Devil Fruits revealed in chapter 1063 there’s Doc Q’s Sick-Sick Devil Fruit. This Paramecia Devil Fruit quite literally turns Doc Q into a walking disease machine, as the guy can now freely ‘invent’ and infect those around him with diseases that produce a variety of different effects. Again, this is another Fruit with very little information on it, but at a glance, it seems to be the stronger version of Ivankov’s Hormone DF and similar to Ceaser Clown’s Gas DF.
The only aspect known about this Devil Fruit so far is that Doc Q can ‘invent’ the disease, it can spread just like a standard contagious disease would, and with intense enough Haki can be fought against and resist it. The Haki aspect does seem like a pretty good counter for this Devil Fruit, but there is still a myriad of other ways it could be used:
- Doc Q could use this fruit to infect the Blackbeard Pirates with a disease that massively benefits them with minor consequences (for example 10x Strength but they’ll have a high fever and be drowsy).
- With proper preparation, the Blackbeard Pirates could quite literally infect the entire ocean with a disease using Van Augur’s warping ability or the News Coo that delivers the newspapers.
- Because Doc Q can seemingly ‘invent’ what the disease does, it opens the door for diseases that can paralyze opponents, turn the water in their bodies into ‘seawater’, cause instant death, and so on.
- It’s likely that Doc Q can also choose how a disease is spread, meaning that he might even be able to make a disease spread by inexplicable ways such as word of mouth, eye contact, or even just a standard airborne infection.
Again, like Van Augur, because this seems too overpowered at first glance, it’s likely that it has some harsh restrictions such as having to follow actual medical science with the disease effects or the whole Haki countering system.
14 The Marine Admiral’s Devil Fruits: Kizaru, Aokiji, Akainu, Aramaki, Issho
Devil Fruit Name | Devil Fruit Type | Devil Fruit User(s) | Awakening Status |
---|---|---|---|
Pika Pika No Mi | Logia | Kizaru Borsalino | Unawakened |
Hie Hie No Mi | Logia | Aokiji Kuzan | Unawakened |
Magu Magu No Mi | Logia | Akainu Sakazuki | Unawakened |
Mori Mori No Mi | Logia | Aramaki Ryokugyu | Unawakened |
Zushi Zushi No Mi | Paramecia | Issho Fujitora | Unawakened |
The most powerful Devil Fruits belong to the most powerful characters, obviously enough. Characters like the Four Emperors (old ones or new ones), the Seven Warlords, and even the three (four after the timeskip) Marine Admirals. For the first half of One Piece, these admirals were Borsalino The Yellow Monkey, Kuzan The Blue Pheasant, and Akainu The Red Dog.
But, after the Marineford War timeskip where Akainu was promoted and Kuzan left the Marines, new Admirals with Fujitora The Purple Tiger, and Aramaki The Green Bull, came into play. Here’s the reputation each of these five Admirals and their Devil Fruits has:
-
Kuzan with the
Chilly-Chilly Fruit
, can freeze anyone in an instant, create unique weapons out of ice, and even turn portions of the ocean itself into ice. -
With the
Glint-Glint Fruit
, Borsalino is light itself, able to move faster than anyone, shoot lasers from any part of his body,
create light clones of himself
, and pierce even the most durable of materials. -
Akainu is a weapon of mass destruction using the
Mag-Mag Fruit
, able to sink entire islands, kill men with a single magma touch, and is the one who managed to best Kuzan in a 1-on-1. -
Fujitora is blind, sure, but he holds domain over the concept of gravity itself thanks to the
Stomp-Stomp Fruit,
making him able to fly, summon meteors from outer space, crush his opponents under infinite amounts of weight, and more. -
And lastly, Aramaki was shown the latest, only revealing his
Woods-Woods Fruit
powers after the end of the Wano arc. With this Logia, Aramaki has complete control over plant life which lets him use roots to drain liquid from others, spawn giant flowers that spin and let him fly, or even ‘regrow’ himself from a sapling when he’s destroyed.
With four Logia’s and one absurdly strong Paramecia, these Devil Fruits are basically unparalleled among their peers, or at least they are for now.
13 The Rumble-Rumble Fruit: Enel
Devil Fruit Name | Devil Fruit Type | Devil Fruit User(s) | Awakening Status |
---|---|---|---|
Goro Goro No Mi | Logia | Enel | Unawakened |
It’s a good thing Enel went to the moon because if he hadn’t this guy could have terrorized the rest of the first half of the Grand Line without finding another natural enemy like Luffy. Enel is one of the first Logia-type DF users introduced in the series, using the Rumble-Rumble Devil Fruit, an SFX meant to symbolize the sound of thunder. And while basically every Logia is overpowered by default, Enel is naturally intelligent and creative enough to utilize his already strong DF in some truly unique ways:
-
He combined his electric powers
with his Observation Haki
to massively expand its range. - Enel used the heat of electricity to mold metal as well as electromagnetism.
- Multiple times Enel summoned lightning or electric blasts of varying voltage levels, sometimes even in the millions.
- He used Sky Island technology (like Nami’s Clima-Tact) to manufacture Storm clouds that amplified his powers.
- The guy restarted his own heart using his powers like a defibrillator.
- And lastly, he powered his gigantic ship with his abilities and literally flew to the moon.
He even moves as fast as electricity, which granted, is not nearly as fast as light-speed like Kizaru has, but Enel is way more versatile with his fruit in general, which is what makes him so fearsome.
12 The Tremor-Tremor Fruit: Edward Newgate
Devil Fruit Name | Devil Fruit Type | Devil Fruit User(s) | Awakening Status |
---|---|---|---|
Gura Gura No Mi | Paramecia | Edward Newgate & Marshall D. Teach | Unawakened |
The Tremor-Tremor Devil Fruit might have a silly-sounding name, but it is by far one of the most fearsome and destructive DFs in the Grand Line. It’s a Paramecia-type Fruit, turning Edward ‘Whitebeard’ Newgate into a Tremor Human.
To be blunt, Whitebeard was able to cause and manipulate vibrations with his bare hands in order to create massive earthquakes of devastating proportions anywhere of his choosing. He could encase his weapon with the Tremor ability, or he just punched the air which would then ‘crack’ like glass and create these tremors where he wanted. With this Devil Fruit, Whitebeard:
-
Put himself on equal footing with Roger (
not including their Poneglyphs collected
or actual travel distance). - Conquered a seat for himself among the Four Emperors of his time.
- Beat Akainu within an inch of his life.
- Earned the title of ‘The Strongest Man In The World’.
- Almost flipped Marineford entirely using his abilities.
- And lastly, he basically singlehandedly destroyed Marineford in order to save Ace.
So, it should be immediately obvious why this Devil Fruit is powerful even at a basic level, which is why it’s so scary in the hands of a low-life like Blackbeard.
11 The Bird-Bird Fruit, Model – Phoenix: Marco
Devil Fruit Name | Devil Fruit Type | Devil Fruit User(s) | Awakening Status |
---|---|---|---|
Tori Tori No Mi, Model: Renikkusu | Mythical Zoan | Marco | Unawakened |
The Mythical-Type Zoan fruits truly are in a league of their own, and at times seem much better than most Paramecia DFs and even a few Logia ones. And, Marco’s Bird-Bird, Model: Phoenix Devil Fruit is an even more unique case than the few other ones seen in One Piece, as his DF makes him mechanically ‘immortal’. In terms of combat, the Phoenix DF is basically just a much stronger version of a hawk or other bird-like Zoan fruit, as seen by how Marco is able to hold back both King and Queen in their Awakened forms.
But, the real magic of this DF is in Marco’s blue flames, which:
- Don’t burn, hurt, or spread like real fire.
- Instantly heal any injury he takes in his Zoan form, even ones that would be immediately fatal.
- Give stamina and slow healing to others, even gigantic groups of people
- Can be summoned in his human form to heal himself or others.
- The flames that are given to others don’t spread and don’t heal nearly as fast, but they do stick with the person until they’re healed or they run out of stamina.
- Finally, it’s used like punches by sending flames out at such a high velocity that hurts opponents with its ‘force’ and velocity.
It’s likely not the strongest ‘combat-oriented’ Zoan fruit out there, but it’s by far one of the most interesting and versatile ones, which is great, considering he’s one of Luffy’s allies.
10 The Dark-Dark Fruit: Marshall D. Teach
Devil Fruit Name | Devil Fruit Type | Devil Fruit User(s) | Awakening Status |
---|---|---|---|
Yami Yami No Mi | Logia (Special) | Marshall D. Teach | Unawakened |
Marshal D. Teach, otherwise known as Blackbeard, is the most commonly used historical ‘evil pirate’ used in media. That said, Oda’s rendition of this classic character is pretty unique, as this version of Blackbeard is very similar and also the exact opposite of Luffy in many ways.
Both of them have immense goals, but Blackbeard is willing to bury himself in darkness to reach the peak, while Luffy would rather die than do that. That right there is why he’s such a perfect fit for the Dark-Dark Devil Fruit. Now, the concept of what ‘darkness’ means changes from person to person and it’s clear that this fruit has some extra effects the other Logia don’t have. There are a number of special abilities this DF gives, such as:
- The power to suck in, store, compress, and expel whatever was absorbed.
-
The ability to ‘pull in’ the Devil Fruit powers of people around him, nullifying their powers and
letting him hit Logia-types without Haki
. It literally turns them into a normal person while he’s touching them, making it seem like they never even had a DF power in the first place. - Pull his opponents to him with an immense ‘gravity’ they usually can’t fight against.
- And can even store items or people inside the darkness for sneak attacks or espionage.
That said, it has a lot of weaknesses as well, since Blackbeard can’t turn into darkness to nullify damage like other Logia. Still, in the hands of a true scumbag like Blackbeard, it’s unquestionably one of the strongest Devil Fruits in the series.
9 The Gas-Gas Fruit: Caesar Clown
Devil Fruit Name | Devil Fruit Type | Devil Fruit User(s) | Awakening Status |
---|---|---|---|
Gasu Gasu No Mi | Logia | Caesar Clown | Unawakened |
Caesar Clown is the prime example of a Devil Fruit user who was lucky enough to find the perfect power to match their personality. If someone uneducated had the ability of the Gas-Gas Logia-type Devil Fruit, they would probably only utilize it to maybe 20 percent of its potential.
But, that 20 percent would still be a lot more powerful than plenty of other Devil Fruits. Caesar, on the other hand, is incredibly twisted and incredibly intelligent, which means he knows plenty of creative ways to use all the different gases in the natural world to some horrifying ends, such as:
- Creating a flaming sword using Hydrogen.
- Filling an area with unstable gases and then using his Castanets to trigger an explosive reaction.
- Built a whole new type of lethal gas from scratch and then pulled that gas into his own Logia-gas body to increase his power.
- Concentrating flammable gas into a small compressed area and then throwing a match at it.
- Or creating a vacuum in an area of choice, literally suffocating anyone in it.
Now…if only Caesar was even the slightest bit trained in combat and not quite as cowardly, he would probably be unstoppable.
8 The Venom-Venom Fruit: Magellan
Devil Fruit Name | Devil Fruit Type | Devil Fruit User(s) | Awakening Status |
---|---|---|---|
Doku Doku No Mi | Paramecia | Magellan | Unawakened |
Throughout the entirety of One Piece, there have been a few Devil Fruits that seem a bit deceptive in their abilities compared to other DFs in the same category. One of these Devil Fruits is Charlotte Katakuri’s Mochi-Mochi Devil Fruit (which was later explained due to his DF Awakening). The other is Magellan’s DF, the previous warden (now vice-warden) of Impel Down who has the Doku Doku No Mi or Venom-Venom Fruit, turning him into a Poison Human.
It’s basically a one-hit-kill type of Devil Fruit, depending on what poison Magellan uses. And, more than that, the term Poison can apply to a ton of different compounds, similar to the Ceasar Clown’s Gas Fruit. For example, these would all count as Venom:
- Mustard Gas
- Tear Gas
- Cyanide
- Nerve Gas
- Alcohol
- Mercury
- Or even Pesticides
And there are so many more. Where Whitebeard can only create earthquakes with his DF, Magellan can summon copious amounts of different poisons with completely unique effects.
7 The Soul-Soul Fruit: Charlotte Linlin
Devil Fruit Name | Devil Fruit Type | Devil Fruit User(s) | Awakening Status |
---|---|---|---|
Soru Soru No Mi | Paramecia | Mother Carmel & Charlotte Linlin | Unawakened |
Next up is the Devil Fruit that Big Mom Charlotte Linlin herself uses, the Soru Soru no Mi. It’s another Paramecia-type fruit that allows Charlotte to manipulate literal souls to her heart’s content. With it, Linlin:
- Created a nation of islands where most inanimate objects are alive with parts of the souls of the island inhabitants, and all these Homies (as they’re called) follow Linlin’s orders.
- Give birth to three unique Homies (now four) using parts of her own soul, each one having a variety of fearsome abilities.
- Steal years’ worth of time from people, as long as they’re afraid of death at the time Big Mom attempts the stealing.
- It can even stop natural disasters by infusing souls into them like Mother Caramel first did to create Pandora.
- Linlin can also infuse her own body with souls, turning her bones into homies that are then ordered to ‘restructure themselves’ so that she can heal from damage, in a roundabout way.
Honestly, there’s too much to explain her DF concisely, but just know that it’s one of the most open-ended DFs in terms of the ways it can be used creatively, which is exactly why this super-powered grandma is so powerful.
6 The Op-Op Fruit: Trafalgar D. Law
Devil Fruit Name | Devil Fruit Type | Devil Fruit User(s) | Awakening Status |
---|---|---|---|
Ope Ope No Mi | Paramecia | Trafalgar D. Water Law | Awakened |
Trafalgar Law is one of the biggest rising star characters in the neverending story that is One Piece. There’s just something about his design and DF ability that caused the fanbase to latch on to him something fierce.
A lot of that popularity probably has to do with his adorable Panda-themed hat and edgy personality, but most of it comes from his Devil Fruit ability, the Ope-Ope No Mi, or Op-Op Fruit. This DF is by far the most versatile in the series, giving Law the ability to do some insane things, which is likely why he’s being targeted by Blackbeard. To name just a few of the things he can do:
- Create these dome-shaped operating ‘Rooms’ of many different sizes where Law can cut, manipulate, or modify anything inside without touching it, though Armament Haki seems to play a factor in this.
- Teleport by switching himself or his target with another object at the places he wishes to teleport to.
- Shock people using his Radio Knife ability or destroy them from the inside with his Gamma Knife.
-
Switch people’s personalities/consciousnesses, like a
Freaky Friday
sort of situation. - Scan people within his Room to see items they’re hiding or their overall condition.
- Fire his sword like a gun using his Injection Shot to stab an opponent and absurdly high velocities.
- And lastly, the Op-Op Fruit is capable of performing an operation that makes the target young forever (aka immortal), but at the cost of the DF user’s life.
Like a lot of DFs on this list, the Op-Op Fruit is so strong mainly because of its versatility, and after Law Awakened this DF in Wano the ability has become even stronger and has eliminated most of its weaknesses, though the new K-Rooms he creates apparently take a massive toll on his stamina.
5 The Flower-Flower Fruit: Nico Robin
Devil Fruit Name | Devil Fruit Type | Devil Fruit User(s) | Awakening Status |
---|---|---|---|
Hana Hana No Mi | Paramecia | Nico Robin | Unawakened |
Too much of the fanbase is sleeping on the Hana Hana no Mi or Flower-Flower Fruit, held by Nico Robin, the archaeologist of the lovable Straw Hat crew. Remember, Nico Robin is not a fighter, she’s someone who had to turn to assassination and espionage in order to survive. So, the mere fact that she’s able to fight so well with her powers given her limited combat training should show just how powerful a DF this is. Using it, Robin can:
- Infinitely bloom any part of her body, or even her entire body anywhere she wants.
- Create clones of herself that can be damaged, but have no impact on Robin herself (seemingly).
- Spawn an uncountable amount of hands or feet together to create giant versions of her hands and feet for attacks
- Make wings out of hands to glide.
- Use her knowledge of Fish-Man Karate she used from Koala to utilize their impact-based attacks from anywhere or with gigantic limbs.
- Or restrain opponents instantly by spawning arms on their own bodies and holding them down.
And, after the time skip and into the events of the Wano Arc, Robin has innovated her abilities even further and is now able to create full-on gigantic (and devilish) duplicates of herself to fight for her.
