Realistic The Last of Us Season 2 Ads Swarm Bangkok’s Subway

Summary

  • Season two of HBO’s The Last of Us is expected to see creative liberties taken in adaptation.
  • Bangkok’s metro train station featured a realistic ad for the show, hinting at sinister aspects.
  • The latest trailer reveals new scenes and weapons, promising a violent and traumatic journey for viewers.

HBO’s The Last of Us season two makes its way to eagerly awaiting fans’ screens this year, but before it does, the highly anticipated show has had time to make a pit-stop at Bangkok’s bustling metro train station to mark yet another incredible advertising campaign in the run-up to its returning season debut. The live-action series, based on Naughty Dog’s highly praised sequel, The Last of Us Part 2, will see Pedro Pascal make a comeback as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie in what will likely be its most explosive narrative yet.

However, fans of the second game might be somewhat disappointed that certain aspects might not see the light of day in season two. Recently, the series’ co-creator, Craig Mazin, expressed that the next season may take some creative liberties in its adaptation of the sequel’s story. Going off of HBO’s The Last of Us trailers so far, some changes have already been noticeable, like Catherine O’Hara’s character who didn’t appear in the game, but she certainly has made an impact already regarding her conversation with Joel in what looked to be a therapy session.

HBO’s The Last of Us Takes Over Bangkok’s Subway To Promote Season 2

Ellie and Joel in HBO The Last of Us

As highlighted on The Last of Us News’ social media account, the post-apocalyptic TV series has completely infiltrated Bangkok’s busy metro train station in a realistic advertisement for its return in April this year. The beautiful yet horrifying campaign showcases an entire wall dedicated to the Cordyceps, with bulging mushrooms sticking out as they eerily spread over the concrete. There are also FEDRA flyers plastered in between overgrown vines and trees to give the realistic appearance that it’s been there a long time.

Maybe its most daunting feature is the spray paint that states, “Feel Her Love”, which is in reference to the Seraphites leader the group dubbed as the Prophet, whose actions led to the WLF’s leader, Isaac Dixon, deeming her too dangerous to keep alive. As such, he arranged for her execution. This is certainly an eerie message and a sinister environment for those train travelers who might not be too familiar with the game, or even the series, and could be wondering what the heck is going on. Regardless, the marketing campaign should give them a chance to do a bit of internet searching and, in turn, steer them towards the amazing HBO show in time for its return.

In HBO’s The Last of Us‘ most recent trailer, excited fans got to see a little bit more of what’s in store for season two. One scene, in particular, showcased a dance between Ellie and Dina that included a hidden detail from the game’s sequel. The trailer also contains a first look at a bladed sickle weapon, which belongs to one of the Seraphites from The Last of Us Part 2. If the most recent clips are anything to go by, viewers will need to buckle up for one hell of a violent and traumatic ride.
