- Antares, the King of Dragons, seeks destruction without mercy, using betrayal to achieve his goals.
Countless villains exist in the anime world, some of whom eventually see the light and reform or retrace their steps to become better people. However, when it comes to villainy, there are also those whose plans have no depth whatsoever. They simply take and plunder for power and to oppress the weak, not even because they imagine a greater landscape for humanity or their race as a result.

Kim Chul
An A-Rank Hunter Consumed By Arrogance
Close
- Debut Appearance: Chapter 58 (web novel); Episode 13 (anime)
This A-rank Hunter was known to be extremely proud and arrogant. Kim Chul considered everybody beneath him in the Hunter ranks as useless. After unfortunately encountering a Red Gate, Kim Chul quickly but pretentiously discarded C-rank Hunters and below, leaving them to die, as he felt he did not need to carry “baggage.”
While Kim Chul was an incapable leader and quickly led his teammates to their deaths, what makes him irredeemable is that even after discovering Sung Jin-Woo’s group was alive, his first instinct was not to join them but to attack and kill them instead. This was even while they were battling monsters, and it ultimately led to his death.

Kang Taeshik
A Psychopath With A Twisted Sense of Morality
Close
- Debut Appearance: Chapter 30 (web novel); Episode 3 (anime)
Being a B-rank Hunter and an inspector for the Korean Hunters Association meant that Kang Taeshik had to hide his deviousness and psychopathic tendencies. However, it could only be hidden, not removed entirely, as Kang Taeshik took to killing people as a serial killer, all while justifying it because most of his victims were condemned prisoners.
Unfortunately for this psychopathic murderer, he came across Sung Jin-Woo and had to assassinate him as he (Sung Jin-Woo) had discovered Kang’s true nature. Even upon his death, Kang Taeshik never felt remorse for his actions, only pure disdain for his killer, even cursing him in his last moments.

Hwang Brothers
A Deadly Duo Driven By Greed
Close
- Debut Appearance (Hwang Dongsuk): Chapter 18 (web novel); Episode 5 (anime)
- Debut Appearance (Hwang Dongsoo): Chapter 36 (web novel); Episode 7 (anime)

While the older but weaker of the brothers, Hwang Dongsuk, the C-rank lizard Hunter, would do anything for riches and financial gain, including luring and killing weaker Hunters, it was surprising to see the S-ranked younger brother, Hwang Dongsoo, do the same. Despite being all-powerful and having few individuals capable of even challenging him, he still found it very satisfying to kill the weak.

Goto Ryuji
A Ruthless Visionary Who Overplayed His Hand
Close
- Debut Appearance: Chapter 106 (web novel)
One would expect Japan’s greatest Hunter to have visions for world peace, but Goto Ryuji, along with the bigshots in Japan, only seeks world dominance. To achieve his goals, even in the presence of external threats like the bugs on Jeju Island, Goto Ryuji is perfectly fine with leading the Korean Hunters to their deaths, and he even planned to use the ants to annihilate Korea’s fighting force.
Moreover, he felt no compassion for his fellow S-rank Hunters when they died, only blatant hidden disgust and superiority. In his overconfidence and overestimation of his abilities, Goto Ryuji went on to face the Ant King and died while barely being able to put up a fight.

The Architect (Kandiaru)
A Puppeteer Of Chaos And Despair
Close
- Debut Appearance: Chapter 2 (web novel); Episode 1 (anime)
After reaching and surpassing the ranks of a National-Level Hunter, Sung Jin-Woo became highly respected wherever he went. However, few know the horrors he went through to get there. At the crown of those horrors lies Kandiaru, the boss of the Double Dungeon, also known as The Architect.
The Architect was completely loyal to the Monarchs and partnered with Ashborn to find him a vessel in exchange for immortality. For various reasons, Sung Jin-Woo was chosen to be The Architect’s “player” and suffered when becoming a proper vessel. Ultimately, The Architect was betrayed by Ashborn, but the suffering he wrought on Sung Jin-Woo would not be forgotten. After all, Sung Jin-Woo was to be nothing more than a sacrifice.

Frost Monarch (Sillad)
The Tyrant With A Vendetta That Knows No Limits
Close
- Debut Appearance: Chapter 200 (web novel)
Of all the Monarchs, Sillad was the one person who completely failed to respect Sung Jin-Woo, even after he fully awakened to Ashborn’s power. As the person responsible for killing Chairman Go Gunhee, Sillad had completely cut off any possible ties that could allow Sung Jin-Woo to even think about sparing him.
He was bloodthirsty, bullied the weak, and always tried to kill Sung Jin-Woo, regardless of whether the circumstances were in his favor or not. Moreover, he rallied more Monarchs to join him in killing Sung Jin-Woo together, solidifying himself as a major thorn in the new Shadow Monarch’s side. This was all because he refused to accept a human as a Monarch.

In his situation, one would think Legia would be happy to come across a fellow Monarch who could aid in his release, human or not. However, seeing Sung Jin-Woo was a human, Legia underestimated him and decided to deceive him so he could kill him. The cunning and bloodthirsty behavior Legia displayed despite being captured for eons was unmatched.

Antares
The King Of Dragons Who Sought Total Annihilation
Close
- Debut Appearance: Chapter 228 (web novel)
As the King of Dragons and a Monarch, particularly the Monarch of Destruction, Antares’ sole purpose is to destroy. Despite being all-powerful and one of the strongest Monarchs, Antares is not above mercilessly massacring Hunters and normal humans simply to lure out his adversaries.
Destroy everything! For that is the sole mission of our existence!
He is also very capable of using underhanded methods to win against strong foes, as seen with how he encouraged Baran and Rakan, two Monarchs, to betray Ashborn during the Great War. As a Monarch, Antares welcomes a good fight and loves to kill, destroy, and conquer.
