That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime has established itself as one of the most iconic and beloved isekai anime ever made. Almost every fan of the genre loves the hero of this story, a charming and absurdly powerful slime named Rimuru Tempest. And now, about three years after the end of the second season, the fans can finally enjoy the third season of this fun series.
One thing’s worth noting though, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is originally a light novel, written by Fuse, that was later adapted into anime and manga. For the anime and manga adaptations, certain things were added or subtracted from the light novel to make it easier to consume in these visual formats. That’s why the anime version ended up more similar to the manga version, rather than the original light novel. As such, this article will be based heavily on the manga version. With that in mind, here are some of the things that you can expect from the third season of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.

That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime: Primordial Demons, Explained
The Primordial Demons are possibly the most powerful beings in That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime. Here’s a closer look at them.
The Birth of the Octagram
At the end of the second season, one of the demon lords named Clayman was killed by Rimuru. With his death, a new era has dawned upon this ancient group, which means a new name is required to represent those changes. And it is up to Rimuru to find a satisfying new name for this bunch of overpowered beings.
The New Face of the Demon Lords
Other than Clayman’s downfall, “The Harpy Queen” Frey and “The Beast Master” Carrion also decided to step down from their position as demon lords. They chose to serve under Milim instead. That means this group only has eight demon lords now, which makes the iconic name the “Ten Great Demon Lords” pretty much unusable.
Interestingly enough, the group’s name turns out to be quite an important issue to these demon lords, especially to the leader and the most powerful being in the world, Guy Crimson. As a newcomer who killed Clayman and started the chain reaction that caused the group to lose its members, and also because of Veldora’s big mouth, Guy ordered Rimuru to find a good name for the group. After pondering for a while, Rimuru came up with the name Octagram.
The “Octagram Demon Lords”, or “Octagram” for short. An eight-pointed star. How about that?

Demon Lords’ Territories
Other than the changes in the members and the group’s name, there’s also a matter of changes in territory. Every demon lord is responsible for their own territory. After all, they are pretty much the king or queen of their respective domain. For the newly formed Octagram, there are two major revisions in territory.
Firstly, Rimuru Tempest is now responsible for the entire Great Forest of Jura, including the territory of the former demon lord Clayman. Secondly, now that Frey and Karion have joined forces with Milim, their territories will also merge. Thanks to this, Milim becomes a demon lord with one of the largest territories in Octagram.

For reasons that will not be disclosed to avoid spoiling the story, Hinata and the Ten Great Saints are suspicious of Rimuru. Kingdom Building and International Relations
Now that things have settled down, both inside and outside the borders of Rimuru’s Jura Tempest Federation, it’s time for our playful slime to ramp up the development of his own capital, the sprawling modern city of Rimuru.
Dungeon, Colosseum, and Hospitality Industry
Rimuru wants to turn his capital city into a cultural, technological, and entertainment hub. To do that, he commissions all kinds of projects to his people. Two of the most ambitious ones are the massive Colosseum and the underground dungeon. The Colosseum will be the place for combat tournaments or any kind of shows or performances that require a large open space.
Meanwhile, the dungeon will have 100 different levels, with different kinds of rewards, challenges, and monsters in each level. Other than that, this fledgling Demon Lord also built a robust and unique hospitality industry in Rimuru that is based on Japanese cultures and cuisines.

The Tempest Founder’s Festival
Since the people of the Jura Tempest Federation are mostly monsters or other magical beings who possess remarkable physical and magical powers, it doesn’t take a long time to finish the construction of the aforementioned large-scale project. Once everything is ready, Rimuru will announce the first-ever Tempest Founder’s Festival. A massive multi-faceted festival designed to showcase the greatness of Tempest as a cultural, technological, and entertainment hub.
To ensure the success of this festival and to strengthen the bonds with the neighboring countries, Rimuru invites kings, queens, and leaders from various kingdoms and nations. Some of the most notable attendees are King Dwargo of the Armed Nation of Dwargon, Queen Elmesia of the Sorcerer’s Dynasty Sarion, and Champion King Youm of the Kingdom of Farmenas, among others.
Those are some of the things that you can expect to see in the upcoming new season of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, according to the manga. The current anime adaptation has closed the gap quite a bit with the manga version. So depending on how long the anime will be, it might go beyond the manga and follow the original light novel instead.
