After months of wait, Boruto finally returned with not just a brand new chapter, but a brand new series. The rebrand of Boruto from Boruto: Naruto Next Generations to Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is one that fans are certainly intrigued by. The new series finally debuted a few days ago and while the name of the series was new to the fans, the characters certainly weren’t. Fans were finally able to see their beloved characters once again after having waited months to see how the story progresses and how they develop over time.

The end of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations marked the beginning of the timeskip era and, in the first chapter of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, fans could see the timeskip come to an end, with 3 years having passed already and everyone having grown up, as a result. This only meant that new character designs would be on display in the new manga and fans got a proper look at quite a lot of characters, including their beloved Team 7.

Boruto Timeskip

Boruto’s timeskip began towards the end of the Omnipotence arc of the manga. In this arc, fans got to see Kawaki strengthen his resolve and finally decide to take matters into his own hands. Fans know already that he holds the utmost respect for Naruto Uzumaki, who he believes to be his benefactor. Realizing that Naruto’s life was in danger, Kawaki decided to seal him away, along with his wife and, at the same time, attempt to kill Boruto Uzumaki once again. The two met atop the Hokage faces and engaged in combat, however, were eventually stopped by Konoha ninja. This, however, did not happen before Boruto’s eye was slashed and closed forever.

As soon as Kawaki started to make a run for it, he quickly realized that there was no way out of Konoha for him, especially in his current state. That is precisely where Ada stepped in and chose to help him. Unknowingly, she ended up using the power of Omnipotence to make his wishes come true. Kawaki wished to switch lives with Boruto Uzumaki and be recognized as the son of Naruto. At the same time, he wished for Boruto to be the outcast that he was and be treated as the killer of the 7th Hokage. With that, Boruto had to run from the village and, eventually, Sasuke went with him in order to train him. That is precisely what marked the beginning of the timeskip in Boruto and, from here onwards, the series is only going to get more interesting.

Sarada Uchiha’s Character Design

Sarada Uchiha boruto two blue vortex

The manga immediately went on a hiatus after Boruto chapter 80 and finally, in August, it returned with Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. The first chapter of the series, titled Boruto, gave fans a glimpse of Konoha three years into the future after Boruto Uzumaki escaped from the village. All this time, Boruto was believed to be the traitor who killed the Seventh Hokage after he was taken in. Naturally, quite a lot of changes came about during this time and fans favorite characters certainly grew as well.

In fact, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 1 opened with Sarada Uchiha’s new character design. Sarada is currently 15 years old and she has certainly changed quite a lot during this time. Sarada now sports very short hair, and, at the same time, she now wears rimless spectacles. She wears a choker around her neck and her attire is simply a baggy jacket under which she wears a tube top. She also wears shorts, along with long heels, which is quite questionable for a ninja. Nonetheless, Sarada’s design is certainly very interesting and fans hope that she has grown in terms of strength as well over the years. Sarada was briefly seen in action in the chapter when Code attacked Konoha with his Grimes and fans also got a look at how he has grown over the years.

Mitsuki’s Character Design

Mitsuki boruto two blue vortex

Another character who fans got a glimpse at after the timeskip was none other than Mitsuki. Fans know Mitsuki to be the son of Orochimaru, although synthetically created. Mitsuki is believed to hold the potential to do what Orochimaru himself could not. He can surpass every single Sannin and reach unprecedented heights as a ninja. However, to guide Mitsuki on that path, Boruto Uzumaki’s presence is certainly very important. Mitsuki considers Boruto to be his sun and firmly believes in him. He is also very protective of Boruto, as has been seen on various occasions in the story.

However, with everyone’s memories being altered, Mitsuki now believes Kawaki is his sun and that is certainly unfortunate. In the first chapter of the new series, Mitsuki was seen with Kawaki, and the two were engaged in a conversation with each other. It appears that Mitsuki has grown quite a lot. He appears like a full-fledged adult and is very similar in appearance to his brother Log. He also wears a completely black top along with baggy trousers of a similar color. His attire is tied at his waist by a belt and he has let his hair run longer. Mitsuki holds a grudge against Boruto currently for attempting to kill Kawaki, and this is only because his memories have been altered. Although he has not been seen in action after the timeskip, fans know for a fact that Mitsuki will have grown quite a lot. After all, he is a medical marvel and one that fans will be absolutely delighted to see in combat.

Boruto Uzumaki’s Character Design

Finally, fans also got to see the character design of Boruto Uzumaki get revealed and it was certainly very interesting. Fans had already seen Boruto’s character design in the prologue of the series, however, it appears to have undergone some changes since then. For one, Boruto Uzumaki appears to have grown quite a lot. He is extremely tall at the moment. After his fight against Kawaki, his right eye remains closed. He also wears an open-collared shirt, over which he wears a cape similar to that of Sasuke Uchiha. He wears long black pants, tied at his waist by two belts, also similar to the ones that Sasuke wears.

He also wields a sword and, just like everything else about his outfit, it is also one that resembles Sasuke’s very own Kusanagi sword. Boruto also wears some accessories around his neck, such as the Uzumaki symbol and, at the same time, another one on his chest that likely is a tribute to his sister, Himawari. He also carries a Konoha symbol on his cape. Overall, his design is certainly fun but also quite a bit edgy.

As far as his strength goes, fans have not seen much just yet, however, the next few chapters of Boruto are sure to remedy that. Apart from him, fans also got a look at the character design of the leader of Team 7, Konohamaru Sarutobi. He appears to be largely unchanged in terms of physical appearances, however, his outfit has changed quite a bit. He now wears a loose jacket over his clothes, and appears to have ditched the Shinobi vest. Fans can only hope that they get to see more of him in the future of Boruto.
