It is safe to say that Horikoshi himself has enjoyed the journey of My Hero Academia to the absolute fullest. My Hero Academia’s ending happened earlier this year. Fans saw the Final War conclude, and this part of the story finally put an end to the Paranormal Liberation Front for good. This war featured major battles that included the most important My Hero Academia characters, and at the end of it all, the Heroes won. All For One was eradicated for good, and Shigaraki ended up dying, much to Deku’s regret. Most importantly, Deku lost the power of One For All, and at the same time, succeeded in bringing peace to Japan.

Horikoshi Reveals MHA Will Continue

My Hero Academia had one of the biggest stages at Jump Festa 2025, and it is safe to say that this series announced quite a lot of exciting projects here. But, the most important part that many fans might have missed was Horikoshi’s own message. At the end of this message, he mentioned that My Hero Academia is set to continue. Here’s what Horikoshi said in his message.

It’s December, and it’s gotten way colder now. I hope everyone is still as good as before!

My Hero Academia manga has ended. Thank you for cheering me on and reading the series all these years. And even if you weren’t cheering me on but reading the manga anyway, I will always be forever grateful.

Since the manga serialization has indeed ended, I’ve grown to love these characters a lot more than I thought, and it gives me a sense of emptiness to know that the series is finished.

However, I have a ton of light-hearted illustrations and “shouto” (katakana for the word ‘short) manga that I’m working on at the moment, and I’ve been spending blessed time doing that instead.

Ah, by “shouto manga” I don’t mean “Shouto Manga, aka Todoroki-kun manga,” I mean actual short manga panels.

I also revealed a new illustration for the Genga Illustration Exhibition that will be happening next year, and I just might be working on even MORE PLUS ULTRA illustrations. I hope you enjoy them when they are revealed!

The anime also still has one more season left. When Season 1 aired, I honestly had no idea that it would run for this long. And we’re going to have a Vigilantes anime too! I can’t wait to cheer them on with the rest of you as well!

Man, this message ended up looking like something I wrote in my schedule book.

I really want to look back at the series and share more thoughts about it, but I guess I’ll plan to put it in the manga volumes for Vigilantes later.

Anyway, let’s talk about future plans for the My Hero Academia series!

In short, My Hero Academia will still continue! Deku and the others will always do their best for you all and for me too, so I hope you continue to support them from here on out!

In times like these, please take care of yourselves and stay PLUS ULTRA!

Fans need to understand the nature of Horikoshi’s message. For one, it needs to be made clear that My Hero Academia, as a manga, is not going to continue. But, the series is not going to end here. There are going to be illustrations by the author that will excite the fans, and at the same time, there are going to be short comics as well. These short comics can be considered to be one-shots, and they are going to be focused on multiple characters, and will go on to take their story forward. There is no specific release date for these short manga, and all fans know is that Horikoshi will publish them at his own pleasure.

His first and foremost priority right now should be getting proper rest before he starts his new work, but, every now and then, he will drop a new chapter of My Hero Academia as well. It is highly likely that these chapters are going to add to the already-established ending of My Hero Academia, and give fans a proper progression of multiple character arcs. This is great news for all the fans of My Hero Academia, and it just goes to show that Horikoshi himself is itching to draw more of the series.

Fans should expect some My Hero Academia content in 2025, but when exactly they will get it remains to be seen. There are most certainly going to be announcements from Horikoshi in Shuiesha’s Weekly Shonen Jump when a new chapter is closed, and all this is exciting enough for the fans heading into 2025. All they need to do is patiently sit back and wait for more short comics, and potentially even movies in the future.

My Hero Academia Volume 42 is out in Japan now! The English version of the volume will be released in 2025.
