While the epilogue chapter doesn’t fix every issue with JJK’s ending, it certainly does add quite a lot of exciting content, and gives fans a glimpse of various character relationships and how they built up after the ending of the Shinjuku showdown. Fans got a glimpse of Nobara meeting her family and how this meeting developed, and at the same time, Yuji and Ozawa continuing their friendship as well. Most of all, however, fans also got a glimpse of Yuta’s family, and there are massive hints about him having ended up with a Maki after the Shinjuku Showdown arc.

- JJK’s epilogue dropped with Volume 30
- Fans saw JJK characters once again after the ending
JJK’s final volume was absolutely massive and not just because it was the last piece of the puzzle that completes Gege Akutami’s Magnum Opus, but also because fans are getting a new epilogue chapter with it. Those wondering about what happened a few years into the future following the conclusion of the story now have something to read and enjoy. The announcement about JJK’s epilogue was made during Jump Festa 2025. It was made clear to the fans that JJK would get a 16-page epilogue with the final volume, and that it would focus on certain characters. These characters were revealed to be Nobara, Ozawa, Panda, and finally, Uraume. At the time, it wasn’t clear to the fans as to how this epilogue would develop.
After all, giving fans so many POVs in just a 16-page chapter seemed quite difficult to accomplish on paper. However, it is safe to say that the author accomplished it well. While each of these small segments could have been a chapter on their own, fans are delighted that, at the very least, they are getting something before the series officially wraps up forever.
Do you still like snow, Itadori-kun? – Ozawa
JJK chapter 272 opened with the epilogue of Ozawa, and fans saw her meet with Yuji, whom she is in love with. It is unclear as to what the author was building towards here, but, what can be said is that it is implied that these two characters could end up together in the future. This certainly is exciting for the fans, but in the grand scheme of things, Ozawa is a very irrelevant character, so, while exciting, it was not the most intriguing part of the story. Quite easily, fans were shocked upon hearing about Panda’s story, which takes place many years into the future, at a time when Yuta even has grandchildren.

It is through Panda’s epilogue that fans find out about Yuta and Maki’s relationship. Essentially, Panda stopped functioning in the year 2035. By this time, he had hit his limit, and this cursed corpse was then stored in the Gojo Clan’s establishment, under the directive of the acting head of the Clan, Yuta. While a lot of fans expected a timeskip in JJK at some point, what they did not expect was that they would get another timeskip, this one leading them to the year 2080.
Don’t mess with them. These are Grandpa’s treasures. – Yuta’s grandchildren
About 62 years after the conclusion of the Shinjuku Showdown arc, fans found out that Yuta had now had grandchildren. These grandchildren were shown to the fans clearly, and it is safe to say that they carry elements of both Maki and Yuta. One of Yuta’s grandchildren is a boy, and he appears to be the older sibling, while the other one is a girl. The girl looks remarkably like Yuta, while the boy looks exactly like Maki, and in many ways, like Megumi as well.
Of course, these are the Zenin genes that shine strong and one absolutely cannot be mistaken about them.
Sadly, fans didn’t get to see either Maki or Yuta. However, just by looking at Yuta’s grandchildren, it is clear to see that he ended up having kids with Maki. Unfortunately, Yuta and Maki’s kids were not revealed to the fans, but, at the very least, the grandkids were certainly endearing to see.

Fans also got to see the kids play around within the storage space, where they found the Panda doll. At first, they believed that this doll was simply a stuffed toy. The older sibling made it clear that this is actually a cursed corpse and a very beloved treasure of Yuta. This corpse then started moving, and it was revealed to the fans that occasionally, Panda can and does move and talk. Panda then spoke to the grandchildren of Yuta, and essentially implied that they did not act anything like him at all. This was certainly a comedic segment of the story, but at the same time, a shocking one as well. Fans only wish that they got a glimpse of Yuta and Maki as well, and that certainly would have been even more exciting.
What Happened To Rika?

Of course, when fans think of romantic partners for Yuta, Rika comes to mind. But, given that Rika is Cursed Spirit, fans knew that at the end of things, these two would not truly end up together. That said, it appears that Rika is involved in whatever relationship ended up budding between Yuta and Maki. This is clear from the fact that Yuta’s granddaughter is wearing his ring necklace, and given that it was there to protect Yuta at one point, it seems that Rika’s necklace is there to protect his granddaughter now. This makes even more sense when one observes the fact that she’s the child who resembles Yuta the most.
It appears that Rika ended up becoming the protector of the family after the conclusion of the war. This means that the child of Yuta and Maki was protected by Rika, and at the same time, their children are now being protected by her as well. It wouldn’t be a surprise at all if Yuta and Maki’s child was named Rika, but, of course, that is just pure conjecture on our part.
Still, it is absolutely incredible to see that Rika is still around and doing her job of protecting Yuta’s legacy. Hopefully, if JJK were to ever continue, fans would get a glimpse of an old Yuta, and with him, Maki as well.
For now, this is all fans have pertaining to these characters, and, unfortunately, this part of the epilogue was only two pages long. Had the author done an entire chapter on these characters, perhaps they would have seen both Yuta and Maki in old age, and potentially even their child. But, for now, fans simply have to be happy with what they got.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s Epilogue was released with its Final Volume. JJK’s Final volume is out in Japan on December 25, 2024. The English version of the Volume will be published at some point in 2025.
