Komi Can’t Communicate has come a long way from where it started; it’s sad that it is ending after nearly a decade of laughter, tears, and great moments. Starting from 2016, it quickly became popular all around the world thanks to its comedy, realistic issues, and cute cast of characters. Last year, the creator of the series, Oda Tomohito, informed us that Komi Can’t Communicate would come to an end on January 29, 2025, by releasing either the 499th or 500th chapter, depending on if the author decides to split it or not. For fans, therefore, this is a mixture of good and sad news.
To offer a shoulder to cry on for the fans of the series as it reaches its end, Oda has a parting gift for readers: an entirely new unprecedented chapter to be added in the final volume. This special addition could be an appreciation of a relentless author to his readers, together with a sweet conclusion for the interesting character and her friends as well. This is the message that though everything nice comes to an end, life can still present people with a precious story—and in this case, the final one.

Komi Can’t Communicate tells the story of Komi Shoko, a high school girl who is well-loved by everyone for her looks and elegance. But she hides severe social anxiety behind the smiling mask, and thus it is almost unbearable for her to even try to communicate with other people. That is where Tadano Hitohito comes in; he is a gentle student from the same class as Horoki who witnessed her secret and started his first, albeit platonic, friendship with her. They set out a challenge of making friends with Komi, which may appear to be easy on the surface but is incredibly moving and relatively complex deep down.
Overall, it is for the simple reason that the manga manages to bring laughter and emotions to an optimal level. Each time that Komi is blushing, giving cute gestures of trying to speak, or her friends’ funny pranks, readers are eager to see her progress. The thing that makes this series different from others is not that it’s funny or entertaining or that the main character is an adorable girl, but the fact that the story resonates with its fans and is quite similar to actual life.

A Farewell That Feels Like a Hug
Because Goodbyes Are Easier With Love And A Lot Of Laughs.
The settings of Komi-Komi are indeed quite real for many people, and Komi’s growth is a ray of light in showing the audience that even the most introverted person can join society and make friends. Not to mention the other characters that breathe energy into the work, giving wittiness and coziness to each of the chapters. It is a great pleasure for me that Oda draws expressively, and the whole narrative is filled with Komi’s silent feelings; the pacing is perfect, and readers are likely to laugh, cry, and cheer. This shouldn’t come as a surprise; Komi Can’t Communicate gained popularity all over the world.
Of course, it’s sad to see Komi Can’t Communicate end, but it is also beautiful to see the end of a story that so many people have loved. What could be better than an exclusive chapter from Oda where fans get to spend one more time with their favorite characters? Therefore, have some tissues handy and get ready to say your emotional but happy farewell. Oddly enough, Komi might have had difficulties with words, but her story told so much, and it is for this that we will forever remember it.
