Six Paths Chakra and Powers play vital roles in the final battles of the series, and only the strongest of shinobi are able to make full use of them.
Although it is still not too well understood, Six Paths Powers and Chakra are terms that were used heavily towards the end of Naruto, proving vital in the eventual defeat of both Madara Uchiha and Kaguya Otsutsuki. It is likely that the term has some connection to Yin-Yang Release, the Ten Tails, as well as the chakra of Hamura and Hagoromo Otsutsuki — where the latter is known the world over as the Sage of Six Paths.

While this usage of Six Paths Chakra was only momentary, derived from Obito’s own chakra which had mixed with that of the Ten Tails when he was its jinchuriki.
Nevertheless, for this brief stretch in the story, Kakashi had access to Six Paths chakra, which augmented his already impressive arsenal of jutsu, as seen in his Kamui Shuriken, and Six Paths enhanced Lightning Cutter.
8 Nagato
The former leader and co-founder of the Akatsuki with his childhood friends Yahiko and Konan, Nagato was implanted with Madara Uchiha’s Rinnegan as a young boy, shortly after the elder Uchiha’s death, and was trained by the Sannin Jiraiya after the Second Shinobi World War. Following the death of Yahiko at the hands of Hanzo the Salamander, Nagato abandoned the peaceful ways of the Akatsuki and embraced the moniker of Pain.
Permanently maimed during the fight against Hanzo, Nagato implanted six corpses with black receivers, using them to create his Six Paths of Pain, each possessing their own unique Rinnegan ability. The paths were named the Deva Path, the Asura Path, the Naraka Path, the Preta Path, the Human Path, the Animal Path, and the Preta Path, with Nagato’s own body serving as the seventh, Outer Path.
7 Obito Uchiha
On becoming the jinchuriki of the Ten Tails, Obito Uchiha also gained access to Six Paths’ chakra and its associated abilities, including the power to use Yin-Yang Release and manifest Truth Seeking Balls. Initially, he unable to control this power, and each attempt at an attack resulted in his body mutating as the Ten Tails chakra overwhelmed him.
In time, he was able to assert control over this newfound power and direct it with far more precision. His body became virtually impervious to any form of ninjutsu and only senjutsu attacks worked against him, but he was unable to use Kamui in this state. Later on, after his demise at the hands of Kaguya, Obito’s spirit was able to inhabit Kakashi’s body and grant him access to both of his Mangekyo Sharingan and the Six Paths’ power that remained from his time as the Ten Tails’ jinchuriki.
6 Madara Uchiha
Although Madara Uchiha was able to manifest the Rinnegan towards the end of his life by injecting himself with Hashirama Senju’s DNA — thereby combining the chakra of Indra and Asura Otsutsuki to recreate Hagoromo’s chakra — he was only able to use Six Paths chakra after sealing the Ten Tails within himself to become its jinchuriki. Madara’s jinchuriki form was far more powerful than Obito’s, nearly equal in power to Hagoromo himself. He was able to fly, use Six Paths Senjutsu, manifest Truth Seeking Balls, regenerate fatal wounds instantly, or even survive bisection. Only those who had unlocked all the Eight Inner Gates, or were able to use Six Paths chakra, could hope to compete with him in this form.
5 Sasuke Uchiha
Following his conversation with Hagoromo, when he was on the verge of death, Sasuke was given the Six Paths Yin Power, which manifested as a dark, crescent moon shaped seal on his left hand. He was also able to augment his Chidori with Six Paths chakra, much like Kakashi did, turning its color darker, where it tends towards shades of black rather than the traditional light blue tones of Lightning Release jutsu.
Alongside Naruto’s Six Paths Yang Power, Sasuke can perform the Six Paths – Chibaku Tensei — a sealing technique capable of subduing even Kaguya Otsutsuki and the Ten Tails. In the process, the technique extracts the target’s chakra and seals away their Rinne Sharingan, and collects enough mass around the target to form a new satellite.
4 Naruto Uzumaki
Much like Sasuke, Naruto was also given the Six Paths Yang Power, as well as the ability to use Six Paths Sage Mode, a divine state that gave him a host of new techniques as well as the capacity to comprehend and mold chakra in its most fundamental form. When used in conjunction with his Nine Tails Chakra Mode, Naruto was able to fly, kick away Truth Seeking Balls, grasp how to manipulate chakra to heal injuries such as Kakashi’s eye, and even save Might Guy from the brink of death after he opened all the Eight Inner Gates.

Since he inherited the chakra and physical prowess of his father, Hagoromo Otsutsuki, Asura could use Six Paths Senjutsu and create a similar avatar of chakra, which he used for both offensive and defensive purposes. This form, known as the Six Paths: Kunitsukami, had three heads and six faces, and could manifest Truth Seeking Balls that he could mold into weapons and tools of his choice, to use both as offensively and defensively and nullify Nature Release based attacks.
With the aid of these Truth Seeking Balls, which grew in proportion to his Kunitsukami avatar, Asura was able to go up against the Complete Body – Susanoo of his elder brother Indra, dwarfing the landscape that acted as the setting for their conflict. Much like Hagoromo, Naruto, and Madara, Asura could also fly by virtue of his use of Six Paths Senjutsu.
2 Hamura Otsutsuki
Hamura’s chakra bore a lot of similarities to Hagoromo’s own, and had all the properties of Six Paths Chakra. The younger of Kaguya’s sons could also use Six Paths Senjutsu like his older brother, allowing him to fly and manifest Truth Seeking Balls. He was also able to use the Six Paths Yin Power, which, in conjunction with Hagoromo’s Six Paths Yang Power, was employed to seal their mother Kaguya with the Six Paths – Chibaku Tensei.
Hamura’s chakra was inherited by the Hyuga clan and the Otsutsuki clan of the moon, and those who possessed it could touch or destroy the Tenseigan, due to being immune to its techniques. Finally, Hinata’s own chakra adopted a much darker color when it was combined with Hamura’s displaying an effect similar to that shown by Kakashi and Sasuke when they used their Six Paths Powers.
1 Hagoromo Otsutsuki
Renowned in history as the Sage of Six Paths, Hagoromo’s chakra is innately tied to Six Paths Powers in their many forms, and he was able to use virtually all of them. He was the one responsible for Naruto gaining access to Six Paths Senjutsu and Sasuke manifesting a Rinnegan. Additionally, he also gave the duo the Six Paths Yin and Yang Powers, which allowed them to seal Kaguya, just like Hagoromo and his brother Hamura originally did.
Much like other Six Paths Senjutsu users, Hagoromo could fly, manifest Truth Seeking Balls, and use Yin-Yang Release. The most important use of this ability lay in his Creation of All Things Technique, which he used to create the Tailed Beasts from the chakra of the Ten Tails. As one of the most powerful characters in the original Naruto series, Hagoromo’s chakra has been all but presented as the source of Six Paths Chakra and its associated techniques, and his own title is also the origin of the term itself.
