Monkey D. Dragon is one of One Piece’s most important characters and quite easily an individual that fans are most desperate to see. Dragon was introduced very early on in One Piece, specifically around the time of the Loguetown arc, however, his identity was only made known after the events of the Enies Lobby arc. Dragon has, since then, become incredibly important in One Piece, being the leader of the Revolutionary Army, but he is yet to play a massively important role.

Oda has chosen to save Dragon for the final saga of the story, just like Shanks, and fans know that sooner rather than later, he is going to make his move and shock all the fans. Based on Dragon’s involvement in the early parts of the final saga, it appears that his time to make a move is here in the Elbaf arc, and fans want to see him come to his country.

- The Revolutionary Army Has Laid A Siege On Marijoa
The Revolutionary Army are massive players in the final saga of One Piece, and that’s to be expected, given that Dragon’s revolution has finally matured now. As mentioned by Ivankov in the Impel Down arc, Dragon is leading a very calculated revolution, meaning that results matter more than a rush of emotions and that he’s only to make a move when he’s assured that he’s going to deal a decisive blow that assures victory. For the longest time, Dragon had been waiting to build his forces and gather more strength. Now, that’s finally happened. Right before the final saga of One Piece began, fans knew that it was time for the Revolutionary Army to strike at the core of Marijoa, and that’s exactly what happened. Dragon had decided by this time that it was the perfect moment to launch an attack on the Holy Land of Marijoa.
This attack was led by the powerful commanders of the Revolutionary Army, spearheaded by Sabo, the Chief of Staff, and joined in by the likes of Karasu, Lindbergh, and Morley. Together, they mounted an incredible offensive and struck the core of the Holy Land of Marijoa, shocking the World Government. Three major accomplishments were achieved on that day. The Revolutionary Army was able to destroy the Symbol of the Celestial Dragons —the Dragon’s hoof. They were also to free a ton of slaves in Marijoa, along with the strongest slave, Bartholomew Kuma. Finally, the Revolutionary Army was able to burn down the granaries and the food storage of the Celestial Dragons, and effectively use their forces to lay a siege on the Holy Land of Marijoa. With that, the Revolutionary Army has officially declared war on the Celestial Dragons, which means that the Final War for them has now officially begun and they are awaiting the response of the Celestial Dragons.

Dragon Believes The Real War Will Begin With The Holy Knights
While the Celestial Dragons are certainly going to respond to Dragon’s attack in one way or another, Dragon isn’t particularly concerned about taking the war to them. Instead, he wants to force the Celestial Dragons to use their force and come to their territory. According to the Dragon, the real war will begin once the Holy Knights descend from the Holy Land of Marijoa. This tells the fans that the Holy Knights are worthy opponents for everyone, including Dragon himself. Now that Dragon has made it clear that the Holy Knights is who they’re going to be fighting against soon, fans know what to expect from the Revolutionary Army in the final saga. A confrontation between these forces was set up already in the Egghead Arc and given that Dragon has been on the sidelines for so long, fans want to see the Revolutionary Army finally head into combat soon enough.

Fans are especially excited right now because the Holy Knights seem to be involved in this arc of the story. When Elbaf began, it was unclear as to who the final villain of this arc was going to be. Immediately after, Oda revealed two mysterious individuals to be the final villains of the arc, and they were later revealed to be members of the Holy Knights —Figarland Shamrock and Gunko, to be specific. Now that it is clear to the fans that the Holy Knights are finally mobilizing and that they’re the main group who will get all the focus in this segment of the story, chances of Dragon’s involvement in the Elbaf arc are very high.
Will Dragon Come To Elbaf?
Unfortunately, Dragon Is Unlikely To Come To Elbaf

Right now, fans are more adamant than ever before that Monkey D. Dragon is going to come to Elbaf to fight against the Holy Knights, as he said himself. After all, these are his own words so there’s absolutely no way that he could be wrong. While this train of thought is spot on in a way, it is flawed as well and even though it would be incredibly nice to see Dragon finally move and take part in combat, as well as meet his son, Luffy, it isn’t likely to happen in Elbaf. The reason behind this is simple, but multifaceted. The first thing fans need to keep in mind is that going to Elbaf doesn’t serve Dragon in any way. Dragon and the Revolutionary Army are currently stationed at Momoiro Island, which is quite close to the Red Like and the Holy Land of Marijoa on the side of Paradise. This is a strategic point for Dragon and his army as they can continue to maintain their siege. On the other side, in the New World, this siege is being continued by the memory of the Revolutionary Army. As such, maintaining a presence around Marijoa is essential for Dragon right now. Leaving to Elbaf will thin out the forces for Dragon and destroy all the hard work that he’s put in.
Secondly, Dragon, even if he wanted to move, cannot possibly make it to Elbaf anytime soon. Dragon is in the Paradise of the Grand Line, whole of Elbaf is in the New World. The journey from Egghead to Elbaf, which was supposedly very short, took Luffy two days. For Dragon’s forces to get to Elbaf from so far would likely take him a month. Unless Elbaf lasts for a month in the One Piece world, the chances for him to go there are low. That said, Dragon will most definitely fight in this arc and it is likely that some members of the Holy Knights will descend from Marijoa to break the siege. When that happens, fans will finally get to see Dragon in action, just not in the country of Elbaf.
One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus apps. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1138, is set to be February 2, 2025.
