Loki was first mentioned during the Wholecake Island arc, where he was hinted at as being a kind person betrothed to Lola. However, in Chapter 1130, fans were treated to the greatest villain introduction in the history of One Piece, where Loki’s true appearance was shown, sending the entire fandom into a frenzy. It was explained that Loki was known as ‘The Accursed Prince’ due to how mischievous, evil, and troublesome he used to be in his youth.
I am the Sun God who will bring about the end of the world!
Eventually, Loki ate the legendary Devil Fruit of the Elbaf Royal Family, which supposedly turns the user into a ‘Sun God’, raising many questions among the fandom. Loki’s backstory is filled with questions, especially his eventual fight against his father, King Harald, where he ends up killing the King and effectively destroying the Royal Family of Elbaf in the process.

The most interesting thing regarding Loki seems to be his mysterious Devil Fruit. Ever since Wano, fans have known that Nika is the Sun God and the power of this mythical being has been granted to Luffy due to his consumption of the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. However, it seems that the giants of Elbaf have known another Devil Fruit to grant the user the powers of a Sun God which belonged to the Royal Family.
The rulers of the day always tend to fear Nika’s return.
What’s known so far is that Loki killed King Harald to obtain this fruit, which seems to go against everything that Nika stands for based on what everyone knows about him. The power and nature of Loki’s Devil Fruit is currently a mystery, but it’s stated that this fruit gives him immense power and makes him a Sun God who will destroy the world. For now, fans will just have to wait and see what comes of this fruit and the truth about what it will actually be like.

A Liberator Or A Destroyer?

Debut Date | January 20, 2025 |
One of the most shocking reveals in this arc has to do with Nika himself. Ever since Wano, fans have known Nika to be a great liberator who goes around the world freeing oppressed people and bringing a smile to everyone’s faces. However, Chapter 1136 showed a massive caveat to this as Jarul stated that in some texts, Sun God Nika was also known as a great destroyer who brought fear to the people who knew of him.
Who can say if he was the world’s savior or the great destroyer who brought it crashing down…
This was a landmark reveal as it opened up a ton of possibilities for the past and future of the series. It is currently unknown what the reason is behind Nika being a destroyer, but fans have already begun theorizing and coming up with various possibilities that range from the original Nika being a destroyer to there even being 2 different Sun God Devil Fruits, of which one gives destructive abilities. This works quite nicely with the theory of Loki’s fruit too.

This reveal goes hand-in-hand with the previous one, where it states that Nika is known as both a liberator as well as a destroyer. Fans have known about the cyclical destruction of the world that has occurred over the years since Vegapunk’s broadcast during the Egghead arc, where he revealed that the world is currently sinking and that this is an event that has taken place before.
Our world is going to sink into the ocean!
However, it was revealed in Elbaf that this has happened twice before, perhaps hinting at the cyclical nature of the planet and how everything repeats. The last destruction that is being referred to has to do with Joyboy’s time, when a massive chunk of the world disappeared underwater. The one before that is a complete mystery and opens up the possibilities of a past just as rich in lore as the Void Century but far older, where the original user of the Nika fruit was present.

Undoubtedly the biggest reveal in the arc so far has to be the confirmation of the longstanding theory of Shanks having an evil twin. Although this was teased back in Chapter 907, it was completely confirmed in Chapter 1137 that the new leader of the Gods’ Knights is the son of Figarland Garling and the twin brother of Shanks; St. Figarland Shamrock.
Long ago, the savage warriors of Elbaf dominated the New World. The World Government will bring them to heel no matter what!
His appearance on Elbaf along with another Gods’ Knight, Gunko, was to enlist Loki into their ranks after seeing Elbaf finally becoming destabilized and weak enough for the World Government to procure a hostile takeover of the one land that they had been unable to conquer for centuries. This opens up incredible possibilities for the future of the series as well as the potential fights awaiting not only the Straw Hats but also the rest of their allies going into the Final War.
