- John Turturro’s cryptic interviews and visual clues suggest Irving might meet a tragic end.
Severance season two has finally arrived after a long three-year hiatus and, as predicted, it has fans just as confused and on the edge of their seats as its first season. Due to its strange yet captivating narrative, the popular Apple TV + series has fans coming up with a whole host of wild and wacky theories, and one of them surrounds the death of one of Severance‘s most popular characters.
Starring Adam Scott, Zach Cherry, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, and Patricia Arquette, Severance season two aims to take viewers deeper inside the walls of Lumon Industries as Mark tries to understand why and where Ms Casey has disappeared to as he gets to work printing out Missing Person flyers, and what is the real story about those goats? So far, like in the first season, fans are left in the dark about what Lumon is actually up to with their severed employees and also what’s happening with Cobel as she fights to return to MDR so she can watch Mark complete Cold Harbor, one of the biggest Severance mysteries.

Severance Fans Think Irving’s Death Is Imminent Due To Foreshadowing Detail
Beloved Severance character Irving Bailiff, known as Irving B, has worked at Lumon long before the severed procedure went underway and, since he too decided to have his consciousness and memory divided, he has been keeping track of the work Lumon has their severed employees doing, keeping his research hidden in a trunk with his father’s Navy items. Viewers see Irving going through a really difficult time in season two due to his “outie” going in search of Bert in the outside world only to find that he had a partner, devastating both his work life and personal life. Now, fans think that he might be on the chopping block due to a foreshadowing detail found in an out-of-place bit of editing in episode one of season two.
In the sequence, Irving can be seen staring off into the distance as Milchick’s motorcycle cuts across his neck, making fans believe that this cut scene wasn’t an accident but rather a foreshadowing detail. Fans also point out that Irving’s head can be seen on a platter, presumably prepared by Milchick, casting even more doubt on Irving’s fate in the show. Severance has truly gone to town on their visually imaginary this season, so this theory does have some meat on its bones, but to lose such a fantastic character would be a devastating blow to the show’s fanbase. One commenter pointed out that Irving seems to know too much due to his eerie paintings of Lumon and, because he lives on his own, the company could take advantage of this because no one would come looking for him.

Another poster pointed out that John Turturro, who plays Irving, had been quite cryptic regarding his return for another season in interviews, while a third fan went even further by suggesting that if Irving does get killed off, it could be at the hands of Bert, where fans could witness the “evil side of Christopher Walken’s character.” Season two is expected to run until the end of March with ten episodes, and thankfully, fans don’t have to worry about waiting for season three’s renewal as series director, Ben Stiller, has already confirmed its return.
Severance season two, episode 4 will be released via Apple TV+ on Friday, February 7, 2025.
