The manhwa might be emotionally deep, and engaging, and Jin-Woo’s struggle is far more relatable than it should be (since he is not particularly a hero, but an anti-hero) and that is thanks to the incredible voice acting in the series. Kudos to Taito Ban and Aleks Le for giving their all to make sure the Jin-Woo’s most painful moments sound realistic.

Sometimes, even the best artists are struggling since they need to pursue certain goals (aka Deadlines) and they stick to the importance of transmitting the action in a limited frame. Thus, some of the storytelling potential, particularly that related to world background design and worldbuilding is lost in the process.
But the studios responsible for the anime of Solo Leveling decided to go full guns-blazing and overcharged every scene with thousands of little details that make the world feel even more alive than what it seems to be in the manhwa. The purpose of adding more visual context is to enhance the storytelling experience, something that could be difficult to accomplish in a webtoon due to space constraints, but that the anime does magnificently.

Nothing hits harder than a terrible loss, and even when fans of Solo Leveling were prepared to witness some of the cruelest moments of their favorite series, watching it happen live rather than on webtoon slides are far more effective.
Every endearing moment, Jin-Woo’s relationship with his sister and mother, his struggle to keep fighting despite losing his humanity little by little – all of that and more is transmitted with much more impact in the anime than in the manhwa.
